Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by increased blood glucose levels or hyperglycemia. People with DM are prone to developing sores on their feet. Such incidents have been attributed to three factors, namely the presence of sensory neuropathy, ischemia, and high plantar pressure. Therefore, it is critical to treat local wound infections early and aggressively. Wound treatment in Diabetes Mellitus patients can be done with non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is using honey. Honey has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory effects and increases fibroblastic, angioblastic and has a small water content to speed up the wound healing process. Objective: This research is to determine the effectiveness of honey in diabetic foot therapy. Method: This research uses a Systematic Review based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) to identify all published articles using relevant databases and keywords. Results: Based on 25 journals reviewed, the results showed that honey is effective for use as diabetic foot therapy. Conclusion: honey is a good alternative choice in treating diabetic foot wounds. Honey contains antibiotics which function as an antiseptic and antibacterial to protect wounds and can help treat infections that occur in wounds

Abstract

Pregnancy is a period from conception to childbirth, involving complex physiological and psychological adjustments due to significant hormonal and physical changes. One of the main symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy is nausea and vomiting, which hormonal changes, emotions, or anxiety can cause. This study aims to determine the effect of finger hold relaxation combined with ginger (Zingiber Officinale) aromatherapy on emesis gravidarum in first-trimester pregnant women in the work area of Puskesmas Embong Ijuk, 2024. The research method used is a pre-experiment with a one-group pre-test-post-test approach without control. The research sample consists of 24 first-trimester pregnant women with emesis gravidarum, selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used is the PUQE-24 questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. The analysis results show a significant difference between pre-test and post-test values (p-value = 0.000), indicating the influence of finger hold relaxation combined with ginger aromatherapy on emesis gravidarum in first-trimester pregnant women. Finger hold relaxation effectively reduces stress that can trigger nausea, while ginger aromatherapy acts directly on the symptoms of nausea through chemical pathways. This combined approach provides holistic treatment that considers not only physical symptoms but also the mental well-being of pregnant women. It is hoped that first-trimester pregnant women can apply finger hold relaxation combined with ginger aromatherapy as an alternative non-pharmacological therapy to treat emesis gravidarum.

Abstract

The absence of red blood cells in the body is known as anemia. Anemia during pregnancy increases the risk of postpartum hemorrhage in expectant mothers. The results of the initial survey at the Tanjung Langkat Health Center in March 2024 showed that there were 24 pregnant women and 5 pregnant women were found to have anemia in TM 3. Beetroot juice is one of the many strategies pregnant women can use to avoid anemia. This study aims to ascertain how beet juice affects pregnant women with anemia by raising their hemoglobin levels. An experimental quasy design is a type of experiment that does not fully control all external variables (as in a fully randomized experiment), but still attempts to test a cause-and-effect relationship. In the pretest and posttest one group method, there is only one experimental group that is measured twice, namely before and after treatment (intervention). Based on the results of the study, Giving pregnant women with anemia beet and lemon juice has the effect of raising their hemoglobin levels. The majority of expectant mothers who drink this juice see a marked rise in hemoglobin levels. To raise awareness and knowledge of pregnant women, more education is required regarding the significance of preventing anemia during pregnancy and the choice of foods and drinks that encourage rising hemoglobin levels.

Abstract

As pregnancy progresses, physical changes in the mother often lead to various complaints, one of which is back pain. According to data from the Ministry of Health in 2022, approximately 70% of pregnant women experience back pain due to changes in back muscles. This study aims to analyze the effect of prenatal yoga on back pain in pregnant women during the second trimester. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test structure involving a control group. The instrument used to measure pain levels was the Visual Analog Scale. Data collection was conducted from August to September 2024, involving 32 respondents. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods, specifically the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The study results showed that the average back pain score before the intervention in the intervention group was 4.75, while in the control group, it was 4.44. After the intervention, the average back pain score in the intervention group decreased to 2.31, whereas the control group only showed a slight decrease to 4.0, with a standard deviation of 0.816. Statistical tests indicated a significant effect of prenatal yoga on back pain in pregnant women during the second trimester (p-value 0.000). In conclusion, prenatal yoga positively impacts reducing back pain in pregnant women during the second trimester. It is recommended that prenatal yoga be widely implemented as an effort to alleviate back pain complaints in pregnant women
