Peaceful in Pesantren: The Involvement of Santriâ€™s Peaceful Environment and Personality Ade Hidayat

The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics of peaceful personality of adolescent Santri (Islamic students) and their peaceful environment. The subjects of the study are 57 respondents taken from two classes (both male and female classes) of the 11th grade in Madrasah Aliyah (Mualimin) Pesantren Persis 19 Bentar Garut, academic year 2015-2016. Quantitative research was used where the data was analyzed descriptive and correlational statistics. The result of the study showed that average achievement of peaceful personality is considered high in the aspects of intrapersonal and interpersonal peaceful personality. The number of Santriâ€™s perceptions on the condition of Pesantrenâ€™s (Islamic school) peaceful environment is also considered high. The factor of the environmental condition in Pesantren and home, according to the result of study, significantly influences the peaceful personality of adolescent Santri.

Although fun, active, enjoyable and creative learning as stated by Ministry of Education Affairs (2005) has been implemented on the basis of Education Unit Level Curriculum, there is no clear indicator for the implementation for such an approach. This article discusses fourteen indicators of active learning based on emergent theories. By understanding the indicator, it is hoped that the teacher are to create conducive classroom athmogphere. Thus, the students actively involve in the learning process, especially to ask questions and convey their ideas.

This study aims to develop a statistical module for the students of Islamic colleges and universities in South Tapanuli. Research and Development (RD) with Instructional Development Institute (IDI) model was implemented. This research consists of three stages, namely, the front-end analysis stage, the prototype stage, and the assessment stage. The results of the study showed that the statistical module that was designed was valid including content validity and construct. The result also showed the use of statistical modules in the learning process does not experience significant obstacles, in the practical sense of their use according to the assessments of observers and students and lecturers. It indicated that the statistical module has been effective which is shown from the results of observations on the implementation of the learning process, the results of interviews with lecturers and students, as well as higher student learning outcomes using modules in learning.

Paradigm shift in educational context support to instructional innovation, such as online learning, blended learning, and mobile learning. Researcher implemented the blended learning by using blog as portfolios for students. The purpose in this research was to identify the effects of using a blog in blended learning to improve collage studentâ€™s information processing skill in virtual environment. The facilitation given to college students in order to familiar with through search, collect, manages, and communicates information in digital age. Research subject is collage students in Development of Innovation Instructional Model course on period January-June 2017 at Educational Technology in Universitas Negeri Padang. This research used three instruments, consist of 1) the rubrics for identify information processing skill, 2) questionnaire for using blog folio, and 3) interview guided about advantages, challenges and obstacles to use a blog in blended learning. The result show that using blog folio can help collage students to improved information processing skills because they understood and tried the steps of that skill. Furthermore, they admitted by using blog folio can increased motivation, participation and give advantages.

Developments and changes in a language occur because of changes in social, economic and cultural. The interchange between a language to another language is unavoidable. Interchange between language must have happened, for example, in vocabulary. Interference is a language error caused by the tendency of bias pronunciation (speech) of a language to another language. This paper describes about interference between Indonesian to Arabic in several aspects of language such as sounds (phonology), grammar forms of words (morphology), syntax (syntax), vocabulary (lexicon), grammar meaning (semantics), and culture .

This article focuses on the importance of implementing holistic education in Muhammadiyah schools. The essence of education is to develop the full potentials of humanity covering the potentials of cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, creativity, and physical. The six potential humanities are a unity, which means a potential can be developed through another potential. Partial views of teachers on the potential of students have implications for non-intact practice of education in schools that make split personality on students. Muhammadiyah education as a part of the national education system is the mandate of the constitution to produce holistic man through education in Muhammadiyah schools. This article is based on research results at Muhammadyah Sleman Yogyakarta Elementary School.

Students’ Extracurricular Activities in Higher Education and Its Effect on Personal Development and Academic Achievement (Case Study In Islamic State University of Suska Riau) Amirah Diniaty; Annisa Kurniati

This study investigates the students’ extracurricular activities at Islamic State University of Suska Riau concerning the types and forms of their activities, background of the activity, benefits of extracurricular activities, and its effect on students’ self-development and academic achievement. 300 students who enroll at sixth semester in eight Faculties (Tarbiyah and Teacher’s Training, Sharia and Law, Ushuludin, Dakwah and Communication Sciences, Science and Technology, Psychology, Economics and Social Sciences, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry) were the sample of this study. The data were then processed statistically using percentages and regression of correlation. It was found that the type of extracurricular followed by the students were leadership (70%), those of whom had the motivation to add insight, knowledge and more critical thinking were (44.67%). Some students followed extra-curricular activity because of their solicitation or to follow the main stream (37%), some students did not get financial benefits from the activity (34.67%). Some other respondents felt that they could follow the extracurricular talents, interests and personal abilities (58.67%), and think about their future after graduating from the college (66%). Things need to be followed up by students and university staffs were the more active students who attend the extracurricular activities were the lower achievement ones. The using of media in learning is one of important aspects to be applied in learning process, the delivery of learning material is easy to understand, in addition to the provide more concrete learning, specially in the achievement of learning objectives. The aims of this study is to reveal the use of Media in Learning Fiqh in the Department of Islamic Education, Education and Teaching Faculty of IAIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, the informants of this study is consisted of lecturers who teach jurisprudence at the Department of Islamic education, the other jurisprudence lecturers, students and subsequently increased in accordance with the purposes of the data obtained. Data collected by using observation, interviews, and documentation, to the validity of the data obtained, it is conducted the triangulation during the research process. The research results revealed that the Use of Media in Learning Fiqh of the Department of Islamic Education in Teaching Faculty of IAIN Imam Bonjol Padang by lecturers already in used, such as using a doll to organize the corpse, shroud, perfume, coffin corpse and occasional lecturer use media electronics such as laptop. This was due to the limited facilities and infrastructure that provide in Department of Islamic Education, Tarbiyah Faculty of IAIN Imam Bonjol Padang, and the instability of electricity power, thus, the most frequently media that is used by lecturer is a whiteboard using the discussion method. Enhancing Islamic Studentsâ€™ Reading Comprehension through Predict Organize Search Summarize Evaluate Strategy Darmayenti Darmayenti; Martin Kustati

This paper is a report of an experimental research project conducted in a reading comprehension course for first-year students of the Adab Faculty of the State Institute for Islamic Studies Imam Bonjol Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia, during the academic year 2015/2016. The â€œPredict Organize Search Summarize Evaluateâ€ (POSSE) is one strategy that can enhance studentsâ€™ comprehension in reading. Two classes of Arabic and History students chosen through cluster random sampling technique were used as the sample of the research. Reading tests were used to collect the data which was given to both of classes on pre-test and post-test. The result of the research showed that the implementation of Predict Organize Search Summarize Evaluate strategy gave a significant difference in term of the students-learning outcome between the students who were taught through POSSE strategy and by traditional one. The finding of the study showed that teaching reading by using POSSE strategy gave significant effect towards studentsâ€™ reading comprehension. This strategy could improve the studentsâ€™ reading component on finding topic. It can be concluded that using POSSE Strategy has improved Indonesian studentsâ€™ reading comprehension. It is also recommended for English lecturers use POSSE strategy as one of teaching strategies for reading comprehension.

THE STUDENTS’ LANGUAGE LEARNING STRATEGIES IN READING AND SPEAKING Hidayat Al Azmi

Many types of learning strategies can be used by the language learners to make the learning process running well. However, in the doing the practice the students are identified have limited types of learning strategies and it makes them face many problems in learning. The aims of the study is to find the typical language learning strategies used by the English Department Students in speaking and reading in English. The result of the study showed that the level of the strategies used were still medium. Thus, the students of English Department are suggested to apply many strategies. it also hopes that the teachers are able to train sufficient strategy.
