This study aims to determine the Islamic review of one of the psychological studies on posttraumatic growth (PTG) in adolescent women with dating violence experience. This is a literature study with a descriptive analytic approach. The result showed that Islam forbid their people for dating, these means Islam prevent their people to do dating. However, in Islam survivors who experience dating violence considered as a person who facing a test. Islam offer the concept called “Hijrah” in order to foster a positive thought for a survivors. Hijrah means shifting from something bad to a kindness, from naughtiness to truth, also from everything negative to more positive. In Indonesia with a Muslim majority population, dating violence is the second highest case of violence against women. Similar to other traumatic events, dating violence causes negative impacts to the survivors. On the other hand, previous research says that there might be positive changes experienced by trauma survivors, such as posttraumatic growth (PTG).

Abstract

The strength of film as a medium that represents and constructs reality with the storyline which is symbolically packaged, through substance and full of socio-cultural values. This study is to describe the deconstruction of femininity and women's resistance meaning in the “Mother” movie. This research is a descriptive qualitative text research using main analysis of critical discourse by Sara Mills. The subject is the “Mother” movie, a thriller drama directed by Bong Joon-Ho. Collecting data at the text level, especially through documentation and literature studies, and furthermore, data is validated through FGD with experts who have experience and knowledge according to the object of research. The results explain the deconstruction of feminine values and women's resistance meaning in the “Mother” movie positioning women as objects. At this level, there is an objectification of women through the main character played by Hye ja, although another tendency appears which also positions women as subjects in the storyline. The emergence of physical and emotional aspects of femininity strengthens the objectification of women in the film. However, there is a dissection on femininity and resistance value in the film due to the emotional dynamics of the main character’s complex character. Finally, the existence of media as an industry and the power of messages makes the practice of media commodification depends on the owners, so it’s possible that the image of the female character in the film is used to represent a form of media power over the commodification of the message conveyed.

Abstract

Previous studies that have been conducted in relation to women’s work ethics in traditional society seem to inadequately generalize the holistic women’s work ethics of tradional society in general. This article was intended to explain another reality found in Tangkahen Dayak moslem society, Indonesia, that is different from general views telling that women in traditional society are not financially productive, have economics dependency to men, and tend to be lazy. This current study was set as qualitative study by using phenomenological approach. The data were selected through observation, interviews, and documentary study. It was found from the result of study that double role that is played by the women of Tangkahen Dayak Moslem have no impact to their productivity and their household chores. In fact, income those women earned from their work can sustain the economic condition of Tangkahen Dayak Moslem families. Thus, it can be concluded that not all women in traditional society have low work ethics. At this stage, social values and norms that are embedded in a society have major influences on realization of women’s work ethics. The social values and norms embedded in Tangkahen Dayak Moslem were found to be a major factor that is able to support and improve women’s work ethics. Accordingly, the general negative stigma about women’s work ethics in traditional society can be proven wrong by the reality of women’s work ethics in Tangkahen Dayak Moslem society. In other words, negative views about women’s work ethics in traditional society only occured in certain communities and can not be used to generalize all women’s work ethics in general traditional society.

Abstract

Online motorcycle drivers were one of the informal workers impacted by the Covid-19 for economic issues. The crisis effect was not only allied to physical, but also social and psychological aspects. Society was required to adapt and survive for facing unpredictable changes during this time. Any effort to overcome various problems in family life could not be separated from the agreement to divide several roles, following a gender harmony concept which encouraged the application of multiple parts and positions in family life with a balanced proportion based on each one’s interest to support mutual progress and realize gender equality and justice. This study was aimed to identify the implementation of a gender harmony approach for reinforcing online motorcycle drivers’ family resilience amid the Covid-19 pandemic era. Findings indicated that the drivers’ family resilience was strengthened by having double incomes due to providing more access for both husbands and wives to earn money. The value was also fortified by instilling several principles such as communication, commitment, and cooperation in both public and domestic works. However, one of the respondent’s families did not reflect a gender harmony relative because of having a double burden in the home that realized gender inequality and inequity.

Abstract

Child marriage has happened in several regions that apply a Patriarchal culture. It causes an increase in the Indonesian population. Besides, it also impacts when getting married at teenage age, such as the occurrence of domestic violence. It may be worst and may cause many deaths of children and mothers. In the concept of gender equality, the ideal marriage comes from the harmonious cooperation between husband and wife. Therefore, stopping child marriage is not easy. It is due to educational, social, economic, and cultural factors. This research uses a literature study with a qualitative approach that analyses the concept of feminist hermeneutics. The Qur'an does not directly mention the age limits for marriage, but An Nisa 'verse 6 gives a hint related to marriage. This research focuses on the comparative interpretation of the contextual male feminists’ criticism, namely KH. Husein Muhammad and KH. MA. Sahal Mahfud. The results of this research examine that child marriage according to KH. Husein Muhammad is still happening in society because of culture. Then, children should marry with the requirement that they have reached puberty and have mental and physical readiness in line with KH. Sahal Mahfudh suggestion revealed that mujbir's guardians might marry their children. However, it requires permission and approval from prospective adult women. It is very important because if the woman has no inner and outer consent, the marriage carried out will be very dangerous.

Abstract

This research examines gender relations and family communication patterns to maintain harmony in coastal and mountain communities in Aceh. This research is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Data collected by means of interviews, observation, FGD and documentation, informants 10 families in North Aceh District and 10 families in Central Aceh District. The validity of the data was obtained using source triangulation techniques and data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model analysis starting from data reduction, display and data verification. The results of the study show gender relations in mountain communities in the division of roles in implementing gender partnerships. Coastal communities differentiate the roles of women in the domestic sphere and men in the public sphere, and are adaptive to certain conditions. In the aspect of decision making, there are similarities, namely it is in the hands of the man (head of the family), although other family members are included in the deliberations. Family communication patterns in coastal communities are patterns of equality and separate unbalanced patterns. The pattern of communication in mountain communities applies a separate balanced pattern which is internalized in the manganese iyo tradition. This communication pattern creates an attitude of mutual understanding, openness and mutual trust which has an impact on the realization of harmony in the family so as to reduce the divorce rate.
