Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to reveal the relation of literature reading interest and the ability of appreciative reading to the ability of writing narrative of the eighth grade students of SMPN 32 Padang. Three hypothesis which were proposed have been proved. First, the students’ reading interest has positive impact to the ability of narrative writing. Second, the ability of appreciative reading has positive relation to the ability of narrative writing. Third, literature reading interest and the ability of appreciative reading have positive relation to students’ ability of narrative writing The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 32 Padang in the academic year of 2011-2012, which consists of 183 students. The sample of this research was 39 students which are chosen by using proportional random sampling technique. Research data was taken by using questionnaire, test, and performance. The result of this research shown that (1) students’ literature reading interest has significant relation to the ability of students’ narrative writing, (2) the ability of appreciative reading has significant relation (13,5%) to the ability of students’ narrative writing, (3) literature reading interest and students’ appreciative reading ability altogether have a significant relation (27,5%) to students’ ability of narrative writing. Based on this research, it can be concluded that students’ reading interest and the ability of appreciative reading are the factors which influence the ability of narrative writing of the eighth grade students of SMPN 32 Padang. Therefore, the researcher suggests that Indonesian language teachers should give more attention to students’ literature reading interest and may not ignore the ability of appreciative reading in order to improve the ability of writing, especially in narrative writing.   Kata Kunci: Minat Baca Sastra, Kemampuan Membaca Apresiatif, Kemampuan Menulis Narasi

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to describe the development process of contextual-based learning textbook on the subject of Indonesian language morphology process that is valid, practical, and effective in achieving the learning goal of students of Education of Indonesian Language and Literature Department Faculty of Teachers Training and Education Batanghari University. The type of the research is Research and Development/ R&D with 4-D research model that starts with defining step, designing, and then developing. This research uses quantitative approach. The data type of this research is quantitative data that consist of three types of data which are data validated by expert, data from practitioner’s assessments, and effectiveness data in form of learning results and student’s activities. Research result shows that contextual-based textbook that is being developed is valid in terms of the feasibility of the language, content, presentation, and graph with a score of 91,95 which falls into very valid criteria; it is practical in terms of ease of use with practicality score 95 by the lecturer which falls into very valid criteria and the practicality of student’s textbook is 80,53 which falls into the criteria of very practical; it is effective in terms of student’s learning results with average classical of 75,42 which is qualified as Good (B) and the activities of students got a score of 89,52 with classification active. Thus, this textbook has been feasible to use in supporting learning process in morphology subject especially Indonesian language morphological process in Education of Indonesian Language and Literature Department Faculty of Teachers Training and Education Batanghari University.   Keywords: learning textbook, contextual-based, morphological process

Abstract

Abstrak: Painglimo Awang story is a literary works of verbal. The narration of Panglimo Awang is a tradition of Malay culture that happens in Pasir Pengaraian. This research was written to describe the values contained in Panglimo Awang Narrative. This research is a qualitative research used descriptive analysis method of content descriptive analysis method  . The object of this research is a narrative text of Panglimo Awang  that  data was collected from spiritual messenger called Tukang Koba . this research data is all of culture and education values that contained in opening sentences, utterance and character of figure in narrative text of Panglimo Awang.The result of this research is presented in form of cultural and education values as following: (1) cultural values about the essence of relationship between human and community with indicatorsrespect each others, responsible and advise, (2) the values of religious education with indicators namely believe in god, sincere and grateful, (3) the values of education such as, toughness, responsible, and hard working (4) the values of education concerns by indicators like  polite, friendly, nation spirit, and forgiving. Those four cultural and educational values can be implemented in formal education, especially in learning Bahasa Indonesia.   Kata kunci: nilai-nilai, budaya, pendidikan, bukoba

Abstract

Abstract: Tunjuk Ajar Melayu by Tenas Efendi is A literature  that origined from the spoken literature.The aim of the research is to describe the structure and education value of  it. This research uses Descriptive Qualitative Method. The reasearcher takes one of 29 topics in Tunjuk ajar Melayu by Tenas Efendi that is ”Ketakwaan kepada Tuhan yang maha Esa. Data are collected by using the survey: observing, and interviewing. It is analyzed using reduction of data, providing of data, and final conclusion. The result of this research showed that the sructure of “Tunjuk Ajar Melayu” has the same character with the old poem such as expression consists of 2 lines until 7 lines per couplet, Poetry, Traditional poetry.The structure of the old poem consists of  the couplet, lines, and poetry. In the education values emphasizing on religous aspect ‘the piety of the god’ have 6 indicators.They are: 1) Believe in the God , 2) Obey to the God, 3) Avoid The God forbidden, 4) Thanking, 5) Having dedication, 6) Having all something heart and soul. Furthermore,this research can contribute to education of Indonesian language and literature, the old poem such as traditional poetry (pantun) and poem (syair). Abstract

Abstract: The background of the research is the low ability of the students in writting the role play text, where they can’t pass the minimum mastery criterion (KKM ) yet. Type of the research is  Classroom Action Research. It is done in two (2) cycles. The act of the teaching and learning process is done by using CTL approach as mention above. Each cycle is done by integrating some CTL components and observed by the observer. The steps of the research are plan, do, observation and reflection. The datas are qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data is collected from the observation and filed note while the quantitative data got from the result of students performance test. The conclusion  of the reasearch are( 1). There is an increasing of student’s activity in teaching and learning process after the first and the second cycle done.( 2). There is an increasing of students achievement result in wrttingrole play text  from 68,38 in pra cycle, means that only 40% of the students pass the KKM . It increase into 73,75 at the first cycle or 64 % of students pass the KKM. At  second cycle  the avarage  students value is 88,25, means that 100%  of the students can and pass the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research is issues in education sector, where values of character education were not poorly highlighted because of tendency toward academic or cognitive concerns. Education currently is more pursuing student’s graduation target. This research is purposed to develop values of character education that contained in Ahmad Fuadi novel “Rantau Satu Muara”. This research is qualitative with descriptive analysis method. This research is also using sociology literature approach. Data were collected by researcher where data was recorded and analyzed during periode of research to collect data from novel’s text, then it processed and further analyzed in detailed. Results of this research are values of character education in “Rantau Satu Muara” novel by Ahmad Fuadi which are contain values of character education there are religious, hard-driving, nationality, communicative/friendly, reading interest, and responsibility. Keywords: value of character education, novel “Rantau Satu Muara”, sociology literature review.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is form the background of several phenomenon. First, lack of encouragement from the teacher or the surrounding environment on the importance of reading. Second, limited means, such as the lack of availability of books in the library. Third, uninteresting reading materials and the students are not accustomed to read. Fourth, the lack of student awareness of the importance of reading. Starting from those phenomenons, this study aims to determine the contribution of reading interest short story and mastery of vocabularies to the student’s short story. The method that is used in this research is correlation analition. The hypothesis in this  research is contribution of reading interest short story toward writing short story is very significance, contribution in understanding toward writing short story, contribution reading interst short story and understanding join together in writing short story. So, overall reading interest short story and mastery of vocabularies to  the student’s ability at Grade X  MAN 1 Padang. Abstract

Abstract: The development of the national living in Indonesia for the last ten years, the character of the people in Indonesia (sources litbang compass 2012) was marked by many events that have a major impact on the degree of weaknesses of the character people in Indonesia. This fact indicates that the relevant literature into instructions to educate character education. The aim of the research; (1) describes the educational values ​​of the characters in a drama chidrentkerajaan burung by Saini KM; (2) describes the educational values of characters in achildren’s drama  Neng Nong by M. Udaya Syamsudin; (3) describe a comparison the educational values ​​of character inchildren’s dramasKerajaan Burung by Saini KMand children’s dramasNeng Nong by M. Udaya Syamsudin. The research was aqualitativeanalysis method and using mimetic capproach. The result of research shows; (a) thevalueofcharacter educationonfaith and devotion;(b) the values​​that emphasizeonhonesty, (c) Thevalueof character education stressed on brilliantine;(d) Thevalueof character education focuseson indicator ssuchaspatient, courage to sacrificeandhard worker;(e) Thevalueof character education straight on caring attitude. Abstract

Abstract: Based oninitial observationsin the field, the student news writing skills MTs Boarding School As-Salam Naga Beralih Kampar regency still low. This is caused by several factors, one of which is the selection of the learning modeling accuracies. Learning model used is still the main choice in lecture learning. Another factor that comes from the students was the lack of motivation to write the story because it was thought that writing astoryisa difficult activity. To correct this condition carried through Classroom Action Research Type Jigsaw Cooperative Learning Model. Purpose of this research class action (1) Describing the process of improving the student skill in writing news items in class VIII D of class VIIID MTs Boarding School As-Salam Naga Beralih Kampar regency increases trough Jigsaw cooperative learning model, and (2) describing the supporting factors improved writing skills class VIIID news MTs Boarding School As-Salam Naga Beralih Kampar regency increases trough Jigsaw cooperative learning model. Class room Action Research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle through the stages of (1) planning, (2) actions, (3) observation, (4) reflection. The subjects were students of class VIIID Boarding School As-Salam Naga Switch Kampar regency. The results of this study showed an increase in news writing skills class VIIID with respect to completeness of the content of the news (5w +IH), regularity of exposure, use of effective sentences, vocabulary used,the accuracy of using EYD, and attractiveness of headlines along with the formulation of several contributing factors in improving writing news class VIIID boarding School As-Salam Naga Beralih Kampar regency. Jigsaw cooperative learning model type is suitable for use by teachersin teaching students to write news. Teachers should choose appropriate learning steps in using the model of cooperative learning Jigsaw type new sin the learning process. Abstract

Abstract: Writing skill needs to be taught to students in schools so that they have the ability to make a good news item texts. However, based on preliminary observations found that the students' writing achievement is low. Based on the results of 38 students found only 24 students get minimum criterion score (KKM). It is due to the use of learning strategies and media. Therefore, this study was conducted to describe the process of improving the students writing skill of the news item texts and describing the factor that cause of improvement the students writing skill of news item texts through Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) of eight grade students in SMP Negeri 4 Tambang Kampar Regency. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle performed in 2 meetings, one meeting for learning and one session for a test. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative analyze based on the teacher’s and student’s activity while quantitative data based on the results of tests. News item texts through contextual modeling component aids can be used as a means to create students’ imagination related to the natural view that will be written into news sentences. The writing skill of the news item texts at grade VIII H Tambang, Kampar Regency gets improvement after using contextual modeling component. While the factor cause of improvement the student’s writing skill of the news item texts are (1) take the writing practice by continually (2) the news model texts that giving to the students (3) approach of learn that teacher uses, and (4) observation activity. So, such activity could create the learning efficiency and effectiveness. CTL approach demands on students actively and work in groups cooperatively to optimalize learning outcome. The results of formative test showed that in cycle I gained 2,3 % the percentage of minimum criterion score. The further percentage of minimum criterion score in second cycle is increased 11,2 %. The results of this study proved that the writing skill of the news item texts at grade VIII H Tambang improved after using through CTL approach.   Kata Kunci: Keterampilan Menulis Teks Berita, Pendekatan Kontekstual (Contextual Teaching and Learning)
