Abstract

This research examines the management of extracurricular education early childhood. It is backed by that implementation of extracurricular activities on early childhood education face varieties of constraints in management. Therefore, extracurricular activities, early childhood education is supposed to be managed thoughtfully. The management of extracurricular activities are good and true will effect positively to the quality of early childhood education. The qualitative research methodology is library research. Method of data collection by collecting reference books the subject matter and book supporters. Data analysis techniques are content analysis. Results of the study show that the extracurricular management, early childhood education is implemented through the following four stages: (1) plan a needs analysis, types, background, goals, budget, materials, assessment tools, schedule, facilities and infrastructure, output criteria instructors, (2) organize the Division of duties, authority and responsibilities of the personnel of extracurricular activities, (3) carry out extracurricular activities appropriate planning and organizing, and (4) evaluate extracurricular activities.

Abstract

Demographic is one of the essential factors that may trigger the formation of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB). This study investigates the level of differentiation of lecturers’ OCB profile at State Islamic College Gajah Putih based on demographic factors. The response is taken from 79 people as research sample. The data was analysed using technical analysis of Non Parametric Statistical Analysis through the Mann Whitney Test and Kruskal Wallis to determine the level of significance of the difference based on independent samples. The results of this study showed that there is a significant differentiation of OCB from several demographic predictors such as gender, employment status, years of service with a significance value of 0.001, 0.008 and 0.034 respectively. While the factors of the degree of education, career position status, and marriage do not have a significant differensiation with the value of 0.147, 0.395 and 0.358 respectively. It can be concluded that there are several predictors of demographic factors that have different and significant levels of OCB, namely gender, employment status and years of service, while predictors of education level, career position status and marital status do not have significant differences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of e-learning policies at IAIN Kendari. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the data was collected through observation at the online page of https://elearning.iainkendari.ac.id, interviews and documentation. The results of PIECES analysis calculations in the application of e-learning are seen from several aspects, including: performance, information, economy, control and services are in the category of important with the value of 3.46%, 3.82%, 3.77%, 3.85% and 3.88% respectively. Regarding the aspect of efficiency, the value is 4.28% within the category Very Important. Whereas, the implementation of e-learning learning policies using Edward's theory was investigated from four aspects, namely: 1) communication that was conducted through the socialization of e-learning workshops; 2) resources including human/technician resources that were still very lacking as well as infrastructure with the addition of 80 Mbps bandwidth to five faculties, rectorates, libraries and postgraduate programs; 3) dispositions were given to the policy users, namely lecturers who were still less motivated in using e-learning, and 4) bureaucratic structure related to operational standards procedures that was designed in the form of e-learning guidebooks. The result found that e-learning implementation was in the category of important in the aspect of performance, information, economics, control and service, and in the category of very important in the aspect of efficiency. E-learning system at IAIN Kendari is acceptable for all academic civity, however they need personal motivation to implement and utilize it for classroom learning supported by speed internet access.

Abstract

This paper discusses the characteristics of transformational leadership in Islamic Elementery School (MI). It focuses on how the basic concepts of this kind of leadership are relevant to the 21st century education vision, on the what are the essential steps of a transformational leader on investigaties the strengths and weaknesses of transformational leadership in developing the quality of human resources in managing a school. This research used a qualitative approach with the main data of a literary study. The results of this research indicate that (1) the characteristic of transformational leadership through idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intelectual stimulation, and individual consideration (4I) are relevant to the vision of 21st century education. The characteristics are built in the form of life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, information, media, and technological skills, (2) the steps for a transformational leader to face the vision of 21st century education are described in the concept of 4I which is combined with 4C (critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, communication, and collaboration) towards 3 vision of education in the 21st century, and (3) the advantages of transformational leadership are in cost savings, high commitment, actualization of the potential human resources, and interpersonal communication, while the weaknesses are that it requires a relatively longer time, uneven empowerment, needs intense attention, and is difficult to apply to members in the number of units.

Abstract

This research focused on the experience of Muhammadiyah Junior High School I (SMP 1) in Depok Sleman Yogyakarta in improving students trust and choice to study in the institution through an education marketing strategy. How the strategy of marketing is developed and work for educational services and its implementation is highlighted in this study. Using a qualitative research this paper utilizes the marketing strategy theory approach to educational services. The data were collected through: (1) observation, (2) documentation, and (3) in-depth interviews with school principals, public relations staff, student affairs, parents and students. It was validated by using source and technical triangulation technique in a qualitative research. The results of the study indicated that: First, the marketing strategy of educational services in improving the educational services in SMP 1 Muhammadiyah Depok, involves: (1) internal, (2) external, and (3) interactive marketing strategies. Second, the implementation of marketing strategies in improving education services in SMP 1 Muhammadiyah Depok covers: (1) implementing market selection strategies by segmenting the market, targeting and positioning. (2) establishing the marketing mix by applying quality products from this junior high school, highlighting its geographical location, applying competitive prices, and carrying out promotional steps. Third, the supporting and inhibiting factors of the marketing strategy in the school were summarized in the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis.

Abstract

This research based development and progress educational world wanted increase power creativeness and innovation from educators today. Visualize of educator’s credibility competence not only seen from the speed finish lessons. But, which the process optimize management of facilities and infrastructures, so as create learning resources by environment of school. The research is the qualitative study by taking background in MIN Jejeran Bantul Yogyakarta. The research results show that management of facilities and infrastructures includes activities of planning, pengiventarisan, the use of, maintenance, the removal of, and accountability also improve educator’s creativeness and enrich scientific who can be integrated to learning would also take morality school tuition to better understand in concrete terms and protecting the environment around.

Abstract

To date, the management of educational empowerment particularly in madrasah (Islamic schools) is still struggling in finding its precise form. The madrasahs are commonly managed base on merely the managers’ personal experience, without proper scientific conception. This happens due to unhealthy condition in which the managers are repressed and burdened by complicated bureaucratic matters. On the other hand, they are also required to compete in ever growing critical society. The main purpose of this research is to obtain the description of the Islamic educational empowerment strategies based on the Total Quality Management perspective, particularly in light of the educational leadership toward the development of the Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (State Islamic Senior High Schools) in the Province of Yogyakarta. Three methods of data gathering are employed in this research, namely in depth interview, participant observation, and documentation. The results show that, in empowering the Madrasah Aliyah, the leaders 1) rely on personal experience obtained from previous workplace, either being teacher or school principal; 2) perceive comparative study involving educational stakeholders, such as school committee, supervisors, and educational staff at Province level, as an effective tool in developing the madrasahs; 3) attend trainings or workshops held by the ministry of education; and 4) read books related to managerial tasks. Overall, the Total Quality Management can be observed through continuous improvement, culture change, reversed organization, costumers-organization good relationship, focus on costumers and the quality of teaching-learning process.

Abstract

This research began from the writer’s interest on the distinctive characteristic of early childhood education at PAUD Ceria. It is interesting because regardless the academic qualifications of its’ teachers, students demonstrate good academic performance, as well as parents and community’s support for the existence of this PAUD. This research aims at analyzing the patterns in early childhood education management especially that of planning,organizing, actuating, and controlling, and to examine community’s shifting paradigm about childhood education. This is a qualitative research that was undertaken in PAUD Ceria, Gondangsari, Sumawono, Central Java. The data gathered through observation, interview and documentation. This research shows that: 1). PAUD Ceria uses POAC management pattern in every activities, such as planning at the beginning, building communication and cooperation with stakeholders in organizing phase, while integrating religious education materials within actuating process. Whereas, controlling process is conducted everyday. 2). Supporting factors in the management of early childhood education are: students motivation, cooperation between teachers, community support, open comunication between teachers and parents, and cooperation with government. Finally 3). The result of management pattern at PAUD Ceria such as studet achievements in many championships, the increment of students enrollment each year, and change communnity’s paradigm on the importance of early childhood education.

Abstract

This research explores the role of Madrasa’s headmaster as an academic supervisor to improve teacher’s performance in State Islamic Junior High School (MTs) of Donomulyo, Kulon progo, Yogyakarta. This is a qualitative research using non participatory observation method, interview and documentations as its data collection. The result shows that: (1). MTs Donomulyo employs assistance as the academic supervision concept, (2). the academic supervision programs applied to improve teachers performances are training and development for individual teachers or in group, (3). Madrasa’s headmaster’s role in the improvement of teachers’ performances involves guiding them in the form of giving motivation, encouragement, as well as giving examples. Beside that, he is also sometimes suggest for a solution, help, building commitment and training.

Abstract

Islamic education and character education within the 2013 Curriculum at Senior High School in Indonesia are included in group A topics which is considered as compulsory. The central government has formulated purposes, learning outcome competence, core competence as well as basic competence of those two topics. Thus, it requires high-quality management to achieve the standards. However, in reality, Islamic education and character education teachers, particularly at State Senior High School I Pakem, Yoyakarta, are rarely aware of this scientific content in relation to management activities. It is admitted there that management activity is, in fact, teacher obligation yet it is often regarded merely as routine. This research, which is aimed at describing curriculum management on Islamic education and character education with integration –interconnection scientific content at Senior High School, is a field study using qualitative approach. The subjects are Islamic education and character education teachers at State Senior High School I Pakem Yogyakarta while the object is the curriculum management of Islamic education and character education of Senior High School class X, XI and XII. Data were gathered using observation, interview and documentation which are then analyzed based on Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman. Flow model was used as data analysis including three elements namely, data gathering which was done along with data reduction using classification, topic concentration and generalization, abstraction and rough data transformation; data analysis which comprises data display, information arrangement and conclusion or data verification under the topic of curriculum management of Islamic education and character education at Senior High School particularly on planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling phase related to integration-interconnection among bayani, irfani and burhani. The result shows that, at class X, there is core topic under the themes of ”Living virtuous life” and ”Managing wakaf truthfully”, while at class XI, the core topic is ”Hi Moslem warriors, wake up and rise!”, whereas at class XII, the core topic is ”Worshiping spiritfully by believing on the doomsday”.
