Abstract

The persistently high divorce rate in Indonesia indicates a lack of effective psychological frameworks for sustaining marital stability. Despite numerous interventions, few have integrated philosophical approaches to strengthen emotional resilience in marriage. This study aims to address this gap by exploring the application of Stoic principles as a means of reducing divorce rates through the enhancement of couples’ psychological and emotional endurance. Employing a qualitative design, while qualitative insights were obtained via in-depth interviews and case studies. The findings reveal that Stoic value significantly contribute to constructive conflict management, effective communication, and greater tolerance of differences. Moreover, statistical analysis shows a positive correlation between the application of Stoic principles and marital satisfaction, accompanied by a reduction in divorce intentions. The study concludes by recommending the integration of Stoic-based emotional training into premarital education and marriage counseling programs to promote emotionally resilient and harmonious families in the complexities of modern life.

Abstract

The Baayun Maulid tradition, a religious and cultural expression of the Banua Halat community in South Kalimantan, embodies the harmony between Islam and local wisdom. In the age of digital globalization, this ritual transcends its local religious boundaries and becomes a site of intercultural interaction through digital public spaces such as YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. This study aims to analyze how the digital representation of Baayun Maulid contributes to tolerance education and fosters intercultural dialogue. Using a qualitative-descriptive method with a cultural discourse analysis approach, this research reveals a paradigm shift from multiculturalism to interculturalism, which values dialogue, collaboration, and mutual exchange. The digital transformation of Baayun Maulid illustrates that Indonesian Islam, particularly in the Banjar context, can engage with global modernity while maintaining its spiritual identity. Thus, this tradition offers a locally grounded yet globally relevant model of tolerance education, enriching Islamic studies in contemporary discourse.

Abstract

Out-of-wedlock pregnancies involving underage parents create complex legal, social, and moral challenges, particularly concerning the financial responsibility for children born from such relationships. This issue is crucial, as out-of-wedlock children constitute a vulnerable group entitled to legal protection, including the fulfillment of their basic needs, while underage parents do not yet possess full legal capacity. This study employs a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The findings reveal that under Islamic law, financial responsibility for out-of-wedlock children is normatively borne by the mother, as there is no recognized lineage (nasab) with the biological father. Meanwhile, Indonesian legislation—through Constitutional Court Decision No. 46/PUU-VIII/2010—has opened the possibility of establishing a civil relationship between an out-of-wedlock child and the biological father, including the obligation to provide financial support. This study recommends strengthening regulations and developing a more responsive family law model that upholds children’s rights while considering the sociological conditions of underage parents.

Abstract

Abstract Pan-Islamism is a movement that emerged as a response to European imperial annexation of Muslim territories and the decline of the Ottoman Empire, driven by a desire to restore unity, morals, and political legitimacy of the Muslim territories. Its transnational orientation has evolved and motivated ideologically diverse movements across the world, ranging from the politically reformist Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood to radical groups like Boko Haram in Nigeria and non-political Jama’at Tabligh. Few studies have examined how Islamist ideologies have shape the trajectories, tactics, and recruitment mechanisms of Pan-Islamism in the contemporary era of digital advancement and geopolitical shifts. Utilizing a constructivist political theory and informed by Islamic political morality as a normative framework, this study adopts a comparative discourse analysis to investigate situations from Nigeria, Egypt, and others. Findings of the study reveal that state responses have shaped the prospects of political Islamist struggles, and ideological volatility often exacerbates the trends of radicalization. The study recommends that the government should logically distinguish between peaceful and extreme Islamists through constructive engagement to avert further radicalization of moderate groups.

Abstract

This study examines the rejection of Marriage Isbat for converts from the Towani Tolotang community in Sidenreng Rappang Regency (Sidrap) in the context of the relationship between customary law, Islam, and state law. Through a normative-empirical approach, this study combines regulatory studies, Islamic law, and field data in the form of interviews with judges and affected communities. The results of the study show that the rejection of Marriage Isbat is based on incompleteness of documents, incompatibility with the pillars of marriage according to Sharia, and the status of customary marriage that has not been legally administered. The Towani Tolotang case illustrates the challenge of harmonizing the implementation of customary law, Islamic law principles, and state regulations. The Sidrap Religious Court rejected the application not because it ignored customs, but for the sake of legal certainty and the validity of sharia. The harmonization of customary and state law is an important step in ensuring legal protection for women converts and strengthening the sustainability of local cultural values in the national legal system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of behaviorist learning theory through the cooperative learning model in improving Islamic Education (PAI) learning outcomes for fifth-grade elementary school students. The background of this research is the low student participation and achievement in PAI lessons. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of cooperative learning based on behaviorist principles such as reinforcement and punishment can improve students’ learning motivation, engagement, and academic achievement. These findings highlight the importance of integrating learning theory with cooperative strategies in the teaching of PAI at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning of the concepts of patience (sabr), contentment (ridha), and trust in God (tawakkul) in the Qur’an, as well as to explore their intersections and distinctions with Stoic principles. The background of this study arises from the phenomenon of contemporary Muslim spirituality, which often interprets these three concepts in a narrow sense, whereas in classical Islamic tradition they represent an active form of spirituality imbued with reflection and self-control. This research employs a qualitative approach with the thematic exegesis method (maudhu’i), combined with the ethical framework of Stoicism as an interpretative analytical tool. Thematic data analysis revealed five main themes: (1) patience as active perseverance in facing trials, (2) contentment as sincere acceptance of destiny with faith in God’s wisdom, (3) trust in God as submission of outcomes after maximal effort, (4) the synergistic relationship of the three concepts in shaping holistic spirituality, and (5) their impact on character maturity and psychological resilience. The findings indicate convergence with Stoic principles apatheia, amor fati, and prohairesis yet remain distinct in their theological dimension emphasizing submission to God.
