Abstract

The Budaya Gemar Baca dan Tulis (BUGEMM) Program was developed by SMA Plus Negeri 17 Palembang as a strategy to strengthen the school's literacy culture and enhance students' scientific writing skills. This study aims to explore the implementation of the BUGEMM Program and to identify its supporting and inhibiting factors. The research employed a qualitative field-based approach. Data were collected through on-site observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Participants were selected purposively and included the vice principal for curriculum affairs, the BUGEMM program coordinator, mentor teachers, and students involved in the program. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the BUGEMM Program is implemented in an organized and systematic manner through several stages, including program socialization, appointment of supervising teachers, student grouping, topic selection, reference searching, outline preparation, drafting, and scientific paper presentation. Supervising teachers play a crucial role by providing guidance, intensive supervision, and continuous evaluation throughout the writing process. Supporting factors include strong school policies, adequate literacy facilities, teacher competence, parental involvement, and consistent scheduling. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consist of low student engagement in literacy activities and limited parental support at home. Overall, the results demonstrate that the BUGEMM Program contributes positively to improving students' scientific writing skills and strengthening the literacy culture within the school environment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the moral education values embodied in the character Alina Suhita in the novel Hati Suhita by Khilma Anis and examines their relevance to the psychology of religion. Using a qualitative library research approach, the primary data were obtained from the novel, supported by relevant scholarly sources on moral education and religious psychology. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using content analysis to identify moral values reflected in the character’s attitudes, dialogues, and life experiences. The findings indicate that Alina Suhita represents key moral values such as patience, sincerity, perseverance, respect for parents and teachers, and reliance on God (tawakal). These values correspond to central concepts in the psychology of religion, including emotional regulation, internalization of religious teachings, and the formation of a mature religious personality. This study highlights the role of literary works as alternative media for strengthening character education within the framework of Islamic moral education.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to discuss the design of comprehensive assessment and evaluation for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning that is relevant to modern education. This research employed a qualitative approach with a library research approach, encompassing various scientific literature sources and Quranic interpretations. The results indicate that assessment and evaluation in PAI learning play a strategic role in measuring learning achievement while simultaneously shaping the religious character of students. However, practice in the field still tends to focus on the cognitive aspect through written tests, which does not reflect a holistic assessment. Therefore, it is necessary to design an assessment that covers the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains equally. Furthermore, PAI evaluation must be grounded in philosophical, psychological, and religious aspects that emphasize the harmony between knowledge and action. Assessment principles such as objectivity, fairness, comprehensiveness, and continuity are also important foundations for its implementation. The types of assessment used include diagnostic, formative, summative, and authentic assessments that complement each other. Thus, appropriate assessment and evaluation design can improve the quality of PAI learning and produce students who excel intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Abstract

While studies on the philosophy of education in perennialism have been extensively conducted in Western contexts, its systematic integration with the epistemology of Islamic education in Indonesia has yet to receive adequate attention in the academic literature. This study aims to bridge this gap by analyzing the philosophical relevance of perennialism as developed by Hutchins, Adler, and Bloom in the character development of students in Indonesia during an era of value disruption. Using library research methods and a conceptual-comparative analytical approach to primary and secondary sources, this study yields three main findings. First, there is epistemological alignment between Perennialism and the principles of Islamic education, particularly in the emphasis on transcendent values and the formation of the “insan kamil” (the perfect human being). Second, the integration of perennialism into competency-based curricula in Indonesia is feasible through the reorientation of Islamic values as an epistemological axis. Third, implementation challenges stem from deep-rooted scientific dichotomies, institutional resource constraints, and paradigmatic resistance. The novelty of this research lies in the construction of a synthetic model that brings together perennialist universalism with the particularism of Indonesian Islamic values as a response to the crisis of character in the era of modernization. These findings contribute to the development of a philosophical framework for Islamic education that is both value-grounded and adaptive to contemporary challenges.
