Abstract

Education in Islam plays a central role in shaping human character and morals. Two well-known figures in the community, namely contemporary scholars Ustadz Adi Hidayat and Buya Yahya, have distinctive views on the concept of Islamic education. This article aims to analyze the perspectives of the two scholars regarding the concept of education in Islam, the purpose of education, the difference with general education, moral and character education, and its relevance in modern life which relates it to the application of technology. The method in this research is a literature study by analyzing lectures, books, and scientific studies that they convey. The results of this study illustrate that Ustadz Adi Hidayat emphasizes the importance of Qur'an and science-based education as an effort to build a generation of intellectuals with morals. On the other hand, Buya Yahya is more inclined to the exemplary aspect of learning and instilling adab before knowledge. These two approaches complement each other and provide a comprehensive insight into how Islamic education can be optimally applied in everyday life.

Abstract

Islamic education is intended not only as a means of knowledge transmission but also as a foundation for nurturing character and spiritual awareness. However, the learning process in many institutions has increasingly shifted toward cognitive and academic focus, often marginalizing its spiritual essence or ruh. This study aims to identify and analyze learning approaches that address this gap by revitalizing the spiritual core of Islamic education. Using a systematic literature review of peer-reviewed national and international publications from the past decade, this research highlights five key approaches: holistic-integrative, exemplary (uswah hasanah), contemplative-reflective, contextual value-based, and digital storytelling. These approaches were selected based on clear pedagogical indicators and consistent references across various studies. They align with the foundational objectives of Islamic education as formulated by scholars such as Al-Attas and Al-Ghazali. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic pedagogy by recommending the structured integration of these approaches into curriculum design, instructional strategies, and professional teacher development programs.

Abstract

This study examines how to increase the learning interest of seventh-grade students in studying Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqih) using the Whole Group Discussion learning method, which shows that this method is effective in increasing students’ learning interest. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one group pretest posttest design to determine the differences in students’ learning interest before and after the implementation of the Whole Group Discussion method, which includes several stages, such as planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this study show that there is a significant difference between student’s learning interest at the pretest, with the results of the t-test hypothesis using paired sample test obtaining a significant value of 0.02 < 0.05. Based on the testing rules, if the sig. (2-tailed) value is < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the Whole Group Discussion learning method on students' learning interest in Fiqih subject for seventh-grade students. Thus, this study provides empirical evidence that the implementation of the Whole Group Discussion method can increase students’ learning interest in studying Fiqih, so this method can be used as an alternative to improve the quality of learning in schools. Based on the results of the research conducted by the researcher, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the Whole Group Discussion learning method on students' learning interest in Fiqih subjects for seventh-grade students, so teachers can consider this method in the learning procces to increase students, interest and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare quality concepts from the Qur'an and quality management experts such as Frederick W. Smith, W. Edwards Deming, Michael Sallis, and Joseph Juran. The research highlights that, although originating from different contexts, both perspectives emphasize continuous improvement, holistic quality, and commitment to excellence. In the Qur'an, quality is closely related to the principle of ihsan—doing good and striving for the best in all aspects, including work, worship, and social interactions, integrating moral, spiritual, and social dimensions. Meanwhile, the quality philosophies of the experts focus on systematic processes, customer satisfaction, and organizational involvement. This study employs a library research method to systematically review relevant literature and extract core principles from both sources. The findings reveal that integrating Qur'anic values with modern quality management philosophies offers a comprehensive framework that can enhance individual and organizational performance, especially in educational and industrial sectors. This integration supports the development of ethical, competent, and competitive individuals and institutions. The study contributes to the discourse on quality management by bridging spiritual and contemporary approaches, offering practical implications for implementing quality improvements in diverse settings.

Abstract

The quality of graduates is a crucial benchmark for assessing the effectiveness of educational institutions in responding to contemporary demands. This study explores the implementation of graduate quality standards at two distinct institutions: Pondok Pesantren Al-Busthomi Nahdlatul Wathan in Sampit and SMAS Purnama in Palangka Raya. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research highlights institutional strategies and challenges in meeting national education goals. Findings indicate that Al-Busthomi emphasizes the integration of Islamic and general education through character building, Qur'an memorization, and structured spiritual routines. In contrast, SMAS Purnama prioritizes academic excellence, digital literacy, and character education grounded in school values. Both institutions encounter obstacles such as limited teaching staff, facility gaps, and student diversity. To address these, they employ teacher training programs, character-based digital learning, and collaborative efforts with parents. This study contributes to the discourse on quality assurance in Islamic and general education by demonstrating how localized strategies can align with national education standards while accommodating contextual uniqueness.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student engagement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) among eighth-grade. Observations and interviews with school personnel revealed that many students tended to be passive during learning activities, mainly due to the use of conventional, teacher-centered methods that did not actively involve students. To address this issue, the researcher implemented the Gallery Walk method as an alternative instructional approach that is more interactive and student-centered. This method encourages students to work in groups, engage in discussions, express ideas, and move around the classroom to observe and reflect on the work of other groups. As a result, students are expected to become more active physically, mentally, and socially during the learning process. The study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The research subjects were 26 students from class VIII A. The instrument used was a student learning activeness questionnaire administered before and after the implementation of the Gallery Walk method. The results showed an increase in student activeness, with the average pretest score rising from 74.5 to 84.19 in the posttest. A paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. These findings demonstrate that the Gallery Walk method is effective in enhancing student engagement in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of classical Islamic inclusive values with contemporary digital education to address current disparities in access and participation. The research aims to uncover how historical Islamic educational practices particularly those rooted in the use of open learning environments like mosques and halaqah can inform inclusive models in modern digital contexts. Using a historical-thematic qualitative approach, this study analyzes classical Islamic texts alongside modern digital platforms such as MOOCs and Universitas Terbuka. The results reveal significant gaps in implementing inclusive principles within current Islamic digital education, particularly in curriculum design, teacher preparation, and institutional coordination. The study proposes an integrative framework that combines universal design, inclusive pedagogy, and spiritual-social evaluation metrics. These findings highlight the potential of revitalized Islamic educational traditions to transform digital learning into a platform for global equity, empowerment, and justice.

Abstract

Learning the Qur’an is a central pillar of Islamic education, which not only focuses on memorization but also emphasizes tajwid accuracy, comprehension, and spiritual formation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the talaqqi method in Qur’anic learning at Darul Amin Islamic Boarding School in. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students. The findings reveal that the talaqqi method is applied intensively through direct teacher–student interaction, conducted individually and in small groups with a rotation reading system. Regular evaluations are carried out through memorization submissions and observation of students’ attitudes. The results indicate that the talaqqi method significantly strengthens tajwid accuracy, improves memorization quality, and fosters discipline, focus, and spiritual awareness in students. Supporting factors include competent teachers, student motivation, a conducive pesantren environment, and consistent learning routines, while the main challenges are limited time, large student numbers, and minimal technology integration. This study highlights the relevance of the talaqqi method as a traditional Islamic pedagogical approach that remains effective in preserving Qur’anic authenticity and character building
