Abstract

The process of completing a thesis often presents significant challenges for final-year students, requiring them to sustain a high level of optimism to overcome academic and psychological obstacles. Internal factors, such as learning motivation, and external influences, particularly parental expectations, play an essential role in supporting students’ perseverance throughout this process. This study aims to examine the influence of learning motivation and parental expectations on the optimism of final-year students in completing their thesis. Using a quantitative approach, the research involved 35 final-year students of STKIP PGRI Sampang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS software. The results of the F-test indicated a simultaneous influence of learning motivation and parental expectations on students’ optimism in completing their thesis, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Partial tests further revealed that learning motivation (sig. 0.034 < 0.05) and parental expectations (sig. 0.032 < 0.05) each significantly contributed to students’ optimism. These findings highlight that both individual effort and family support are critical in strengthening students’ positive outlook during the thesis completion process. The study contributes to the understanding of psychological and social factors affecting student success and offers practical insights for educators and parents in fostering supportive learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Islamic education and students’ religious moderation attitudes at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Muhajirin Purwakarta using a quantitative approach with simple regression analysis. Religious moderation is a crucial issue in the context of Islamic education as it shapes students to become tolerant, inclusive, and balanced individuals in practicing their faith. The data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability to ensure data accuracy. The findings reveal that Islamic education has a positive and significant effect on students’ attitudes of religious moderation, although the contribution level remains limited. These results highlight the importance of strengthening the curriculum and teaching strategies that instill Islamic values of rahmatan lil ‘alamin, while encouraging students to develop moderate attitudes in dealing with diversity. This research is expected to provide theoretical contributions to Islamic education studies and practical implications for policy development in madrasah learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the habit of reciting the Qur'an and the memory of students at Syabab Al-Fatih Junior High School. The focus of the study is to examine the effect of regular Qur'an recitation on students' memory, particularly their memorization of Qur'anic verses, as a response to poor memory caused by technological developments and declining religious activities. This study used a quantitative approach with non-probability sampling, namely saturated sampling, in which the entire population of 37 students was used as a sample in accordance with the principle of saturated sampling commonly used for populations of less than 100 people (Arikunto). Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, then analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, and product moment correlation tests to examine the relationship between the variables of Quran recitation and students' memory. According to Saihu, as quoted by Fathor Rozi, the ritual of reciting the Qur'an aims to instill and maintain students' memory, especially as reinforcement for memorizing juz 30. The results of the study showed a positive and significant relationship between Quran recitation and students' memory, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.835 (very strong category) and a p-value of 0.000. These findings confirm that the more often students recite the Quran, the better their memory skills, especially in remembering the Quranic recitation.

Abstract

The low learning motivation of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects has become a significant obstacle in achieving educational goals. This issue is reflected in the lack of enthusiasm, low participation, and teacher-centered learning activities that make students passive and easily bored. To overcome these problems, it is important to apply innovative and interactive digital learning media that can increase students’ engagement and motivation. One such medium is Quizalize, a digital learning platform designed to create a fun, competitive, and student-centered learning atmosphere. This study aims to determine the level of students’ learning motivation before and after the implementation of Quizalize in PAI subjects at SMP Tri Dharma Palembang. The research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 26 students from class VIII A, selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using validity and reliability tests, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Paired Sample t-Test for hypothesis testing. The results show that students’ learning motivation increased from 57% to 74% after using Quizalize, indicating a 17% improvement. This finding demonstrates that the use of Quizalize-based digital learning media is effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation in PAI subjects. Therefore, the integration of interactive platforms like Quizalize in the learning process is recommended to make Islamic Religious Education more engaging, dynamic, and aligned with the needs of 21st-century learners.

Abstract

This article systematically examines the similarities and differences in the concept of religious moderation from Islamic and Western perspectives using a qualitative library research approach based on books, scholarly articles, research reports, and relevant academic journals. The comparative analysis highlights that both traditions reject extremism and violence while emphasizing tolerance and respect for diversity. In Islam, religious moderation is grounded in the principle of wasathiyah, which promotes balance, justice, tolerance, deliberation, and peace as integral values derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah. In contrast, Western religious moderation has evolved through long historical processes, including intra-church conflicts, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, and the development of moderate secularism, and is primarily based on rationality, democratic practices, pluralistic values, and the protection of human rights. Within the Indonesian context, these two perspectives are conceptually integrated through Pancasila, which serves as the philosophical foundation of social and state life, thereby reinforcing religious moderation as a shared framework for maintaining harmony in a pluralistic society

Abstract

This study analyzes efforts to instill Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) values in shaping religious moderation attitudes among santri at Salafiyah Rubath Al Muhibbien Islamic Boarding School, Palembang. Aswaja values emphasizing balance, tolerance, and harmony serve as a vital foundation in facing modernity and religious polarization challenges. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving pesantren leaders, ustadz/ustadzah, and santri. Thematic analysis was applied to identify key patterns, with validity ensured through source and method triangulation. Findings reveal that Aswaja values are instilled systematically through classical Islamic text studies (kitab kuning), routine religious activities, and tolerance-building in daily interactions. These values effectively cultivate moderate attitudes, reflected in santri's ability to appreciate differing views, maintain social harmony, and reject extremism. Challenges include the influence of digital technology and external pressures. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between pesantren education and contextual approaches to build an inclusive and tolerant generation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain how using the Seesaw application affects students' learning engagement in Islamic Religious Education courses.  The low level of learning activity among eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Gunung Raja, Muara Enim Regency, serves as the backdrop for this study. Students are typically passive when it comes to asking questions, responding to them, and taking part in discussions.  The study employs a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest Design and quantitative methodology.  Purposive sampling was used to choose 35 eighth-grade students from class VIII A for the research sample. The data was gathered using a learning activity questionnaire with 25 statements on a four-point Likert scale. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test and paired sample t-test were employed in SPSS version 27 to evaluate the findings.  Using a pretest average of 56.66 and a posttest mean of 83.8, as well as a t-value of 58.718 > t-table 2.032 (p < 0.05), the study's findings demonstrated a significant increase in students' learning activity following the deployment of Seesaw. In addition to promoting creative Islamic education learning in the digital age, the Seesaw application has been shown to be successful in raising students' motivation and learning activity.

Abstract

Character education is one of the main pillars in shaping a morally upright generation with global competitiveness. The phenomenon of moral degradation and lack of discipline among students has become a serious concern for schools. Therefore, a more fundamental approach is needed through the application of the principles of the philosophy of science in the character education process. According to Jujun S. Suriasumantri, the philosophy of science functions to "critically analyze the foundations of human knowledge and provide direction for the development of science that is meaningful to life." This principle serves as the foundation of this study to examine the extent to which the understanding of the philosophy of science can strengthen character education among high school students. This research aims to analyze the role of the philosophy of science in developing students' character education. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through field observations, teacher interviews, and document analysis. The results indicate that understanding the philosophy of science helps teachers instill values of truth, responsibility, and integrity in students. The philosophy of science serves as an epistemological foundation in the character education process, particularly in the era of globalization that is filled with moral challenges. The implementation of the philosophy of science is reflected through learning reflections, critical discussions, and the habituation of ethical values within the school environment.

Abstract

The development of globalization and digital transformation has fundamentally changed the way humans acquire, verify, and construct knowledge, including in the field of education. Advances in information technology encourage students to interact with various digital sources; however, they also present challenges such as disinformation, cognitive bias, and declining ethical awareness. These conditions highlight the importance of revitalizing the role of the philosophy of knowledge (epistemology) as a critical foundation for shaping students' rational, ethical, and spiritual thinking. This study aims to examine the relevance of the philosophy of knowledge in strengthening digital literacy and spiritual values in the global era. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature study, exploring classical epistemological concepts such as rationalism, empiricism, and criticism, and connecting them to digital learning practices in schools. The findings reveal that the application of epistemological principles enhances reflective thinking, rationality, and moral responsibility in the use of technology. Furthermore, spiritual values such as intellectual honesty, awareness of truth, and gratitude for knowledge help strengthen students' character. Thus, the philosophy of knowledge plays a strategic role in balancing digital intelligence with spiritual depth among students.

Abstract

This research was inspired by the belief that education should not only aim for academic achievement but also focus on shaping students' character to be religious, tolerant, and moderate. At SD Muhammadiyah 18 Palembang, one of the flagship programs to realize this vision is the diniyah extracurricular activities. Through these activities, students are guided to strengthen their understanding of Islam while also practicing values of religious moderation. The programs include iqra' and Qur'an learning, prayer and hadith ctice, all of which are designed to encourage students to not only know the theory but also live it out in daily life. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that diniyah extracurriculars contribute greatly to building moderation attitudes in students. Methods like reading, sima'i (listening), tahsin tilawah, and writing also enhance discipline, confidence, and responsibility. Support from schools, facilities, students, and parents has strengthened the program, although challenges such as time limitations and tutoring schedules still exist. Overall, diniyah extracurriculars serve as an effective model for nurturing a religious, tolerant, and nationally minded generation in Indonesia.
