Abstract

ABSTRACT The major objective of this research is to have a substantial impact on the damaging discourse of trends in online news of Eco literacy, beginning with a discussion of its locus of Ecology, Eco-literacy, and Eco linguistics in Indonesia in the wake and post-pandemic age. Then the study presents some of the antecedents of the worst condition of literacy around us in Indonesian Nature, continuing into the emergence of uncontrolled conditions of news that hypnotizes our way of living. Further, it presents a comprehensive and historical conspectus of Eco Literacy as it exists today, including some of the fundamental ideas by Arran Stibbe, David Orr, Kathy Ann Mills, Khan, Greg Gerard, and the Social Practice of Bang & Door. By applying phenomenological research, NVivo 12 Plus, this study applies a Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA) model to find out how language in online news might modify the consumptive paradigm and is not under environmental ethics in social society through online media. Finally, the result of the research indicates three coding in form of nodes in NVivo that covers Ideological Background; 23 references in 9 news, Sociological Background in Social Millau; 6 references in 5 news, and Biological Background; 5 references in 5 news. Abstract

ABSTRACT Education is the backbone of a nation. It paves the way for all round development including peace, progress and prosperity of a man, society and Country . With the changing scenario of Global world a more meaningful technology-based education system became the crying need of the hour. Hence National Education policy 2020 was launched by the Central Govt of India on 29th July 2020 to meet the Challenges of modern society. After a gap of nearly 34Years NEP 2020 will now definitely prove the most effective and outstanding education policy of modern India. Only a value-based education system can bring basic changes in old education and examination system. Now multidisciplinary education system of GlobalStandards and National Research Foundation will be created as an apex body for fostering a strong research culture among teachers of today. More research facilities would be provided to improve their capacity and capability . This new policy provides for reforms at all levels of education form school to higher education. It focuses on Early Childhood Care, Reform the current exam system, Strenghten techer-training and Restructure the education regulatory framework. The role of Teacher is to shape the minds of the younger generation and hence teachers must be passionate, motivated and well qualified. Provisions have been made even for online learning as an alternative to regular classroom interaction between teachers and students for better understanding. Detailed provisions of New Education Policy has been well documented. The present conceptual research paper is to study the objective of New Education Policy 2020, its features and Role of Teachers. Abstract

Purpose: In recent era repeatedly growing demand for Ethical values in the competitive market, in this context Ethical Leadership has been playing a critical role to promote pro environmental behavior and ethical perspective. Based on Social learning theory and social exchange theory, this research evaluating the effect of ethical leadership and ethical climate on corporate social responsibility. Significant key feature of this research was that to examine the effect of ethical leadership and ethical climate on CSR. Approach/Design: To analyze the hypothesis of this research, data were collected from four capital cities (Sindh, Punjab, and Baluchistan) more than 300 employees were involved in research survey who are currently worked in PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited). Findings: In this study hypothesis tested, the result of 300 employees working in PTCL, results showed that the positive association between Ethical Leadership and CSR, Ethical Climate and CSR with two different combinations. However, it was noticed that ethical leadership and ethical climate both are directly influence on CSR with significant effect. Research implications/Limitations: The initial research limitations based on data, which has collected from four different headquarters (Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar) of PTCL in Pakistan. Results of this research just focus on four cities and only one organization, so the rest of cities and other telecom companies not including in this research. Practical implications: This study highlighted the importance of Ethical leader who positively influence on Ethical climate, it is also play a vital role as a CEO or manager to motivate employees for ethical duties and social responsibilities. It was suggested that top management specifically CEO’s and MDs were involved to develop ethical climate in the organization that reflect and promote pro-social behavior in the shape of corporate social responsibility. Abstract

Gender representation in educational materials is a crucial aspect of fostering inclusivity and promoting social equity in the classroom. Ensuring accurate and equitable gender representation is needed to foster inclusive learning environments. This article presents the findings of a study which analyzed the gender representation within the latest English coursebook for senior high school students which adapt Kurikulum Merdeka and published by Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. The data for this research extracted from reading passages and images in the English coursebook titled "Train of Thought”. To uncover disparities in power dynamics between genders, elements such as visual depictions, character representations, social roles, domestic duties, and semantic roles were analyzed. The investigation revealed a bias favoring men in certain roles and activities, such as athleticism, social engagement, and sports participation. Despite this, some equality was found in pictorial representation, activities, and roles. These findings underscore the importance of critically examining educational materials for gender biases and stereotypes, informing curriculum development and coursebook selection processes to promote gender equity and inclusivity in education

Abstract

YouTube is nowadays well known as a social media platform in the Internet. This advanced technology-based application is freely used by all people, including by both school students and university students. The objective of this study was to investigate pre-service librarians’ practices and perceptions on using YouTube to encourage their skills in English speaking practices. This study was designed as a qualitative descriptive study using a question survey with two options (Setuju and Tidak Setuju) to collect data. The data were collected from 66 students of Library Science Study Program at Faculty of Humanities, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. These students are at second semester participating in the course of English for librarian in the ongoing semester. Data from the survey were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The result of the study indicated that all research participants preferred to speaking lesson more than other lessons such as reading, listening, and writing. In addition, they were considerably encouraged to post their speaking recorded videos in YouTube platform as their English self-assets in the online environment. They have made use of such recorded videos of English speaking practices the learning media to improve their English speaking skills. In conclusion, speaking practices using English recorded and uploaded to YouTube were perceived as the path for the students to be fond of English communication and benefit them to enhance their English speaking skill for future career as a librarian.

Abstract

This research investigates the linguistic ecology of Makassar’s green spaces and its role in navigating environmental awareness through language. Focusing on popular landmarks in Makassar City, including Losari Beach, Fort Rotterdam, Taman Macan and Lapangan Karebosi, the study examines the language used in signage (signs and information boards) plays related to environmental conservation and green space management. Through a combination of linguistics analysis and qualitative research method, this research comprises documentation and survey in gathering data. There are 60 respondents contribute in the survey (visitors, residents who live around the public green spaces, stakeholders, and groups of community). The findings identify that there are prevalent language patterns used in signage related to environmental awareness and green space management in Makassar’s popular landmarks; language influences people perception, attitudes, and behavior towards environmental conservation and sustainability practices in Makassar’s green spaces through several mechanism including narratives and framing, cultural relevance, accessibility and inclusivity, targeted communication, education and awareness, as well as social norms and peer influence. In conclusion, this research contribute to the understanding of the intricate relationship between language, environment, and society, with implications for environmental education, communication strategies, and policy interventions aimed at fostering greater environmental consciousness in urban setting like Makassar.Keywords: Linguistics Ecology, Environmental Awareness, Urban Sustainability, Green Spaces, Makassar City.

Abstract

This study examines a novel Hybrid Project-Based Learning model in academic writing courses, presenting a revolutionary educational approach. A comprehensive case study was conducted in the English Department of IAIN Ponorogo, East Java, Indonesia. The study employed a robust qualitative research methodology and collected valuable information from data sources such as observations, interviews, and reflection. The investigation cantered on 85 fourth-semester students and three academic lecturers to establish a contextualized framework for comprehending the intricacies of implementing Hybrid PBL. The study utilized Thematic Analysis and QDA Miner software for data analysis. The study showed that the Hybrid-PBL academic writing approach begins by developing fundamental skills encompassing reading, note-taking, paraphrasing, and utilizing technology resources. The method proceeded with a project-based learning phase involving authentic writing problems, collaborative tasks, and a thorough process writing approach. Moreover, students offered significant insights emphasizing two primary themes: challenging yet rewarding and promoting a sense of value and approval. Abstract

The use of language in making meaning is strongly related to the context. This relation can be seen through deixis that refers to different things based on the speaker/writer’s intention. The hearer/reader’s ability to identify the referents is undoubtedly a necessity for a text to be comprehended. Deixis can be found in almost any text, including drama scripts like Trifles (1916) by Susan Glaspell. This research has two objectives. First, it aims at analyzing the types of deixis and its referents in the Trifles drama script by Susan Glaspell. Second, it is conducted to analyze the dominant type of deixis found in the script. This study applies the descriptive qualitative approach, in which the data are collected using documentation technique with five steps analysis data: 1) reading the dialogues, 2) identifying the deixis, 3) classifying deixis types, 4) describing the referents, 5) making a conclusion. The finding shows that there are 794 deictic expressions with various referents found in the drama script. It consists of 591 person deixis (74%), 62 place deixis (8%), 57 social deixis (7%), 52 discourse deixis (7%), and 32 time deixis (4%). Hence, the dominant type of deixis found in the drama script is person deixis.

Abstract

This research intends to analyse Post-Method Pedagogy in Merdeka curriculum. The major reflecting of this research is to criticise available Post-Method Pedagogy as one of approaches to pedagogical methodology in English Learning Teaching (ELT). The methodology used is qualitative research through literature study. To collect the data, the researcher peels literary references from journals which closely relate with the issue being discussed. The primary outcome of research is as follows. To understand post-method pedagogy, Merdeka curriculum and suitability post-method pedagogy used in Merdeka curriculum. Then, the expected result may be a consideration for teachers as practitioners, educational policy makers to adjust this approach in implementing pedagogical practice in English Learning Teaching (ELT) to achieve an education’s goals.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenges faced by Mandailingnese students in pronouncing English words. The interference of the Mandailing language in English poses several difficulties for these students. Therefore, this study aims to identify the specific problems encountered by Mandailing students. Conducted at STAIN Mandailing Natal in the Family Law Study Program, this research adopts a qualitative research design with a case study approach. The instruments utilized include an oral test involving the reading of three different texts, supported by audio recordings, and interviews to explore students' pronunciation challenges in English. The researchers identified various issues affecting Mandailing students' pronunciation, including linguistic interference from the Mandailing language, misconceptions, lack of motivation to study, environmental factors, ineffective study habits, limited access to modern technology, economic constraints, and a lack of awareness regarding the importance of English language proficiency. From these findings, it can be inferred that Mandailing students encounter numerous hurdles in pronouncing English words, leading to decreased confidence and interest in the language. Therefore, educators and institutions are urged to address these challenges to support Mandailing students effectively.
