ABSTRACTÂ This study aims to (1) describe the values of character education contained, (2) describe the values of character education that often appear in, (3) describe character education values which rarely appears, and (4) describes the values of character education that are not in the short stories of the Singgalang Daily newspaper. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Based on the results of the study, the values of character education studied in the short story of the Singgalang Daily newspaper were found. First, the short stories contained in the Singgalang Daily newspaper contain eighteen values of character education, namely the value of religious character education, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, democratic, independent, curiosity, national spirit, love for the country , appreciates achievement, is friendly/communicative, loves peace, likes to read, cares about the environment, cares for the social, and takes responsibility. Second, the value of character education that often arises is the value of friendly/ communicative character education. Third, character education values that rarely emerge are the spirit of nationalism, love of peace, and love to read.Â Kata kunci: nilai, pendidikanÂ karakter, cerpen, koran, Harian Singgalang

Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this study is three. First, describing reading skills understanding the text description of class VII students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of description text. Third, describe the correlation of reading text description understanding with writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang. The population of this study was seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang who were registered in the 2019/2020 school year with 192 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 25% of the population, which is 48 students. Based on data analysis and discussion, three research results are obtained as follows. First, reading skills understanding the text description of class VII students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang in good qualifications. This can be seen from the acquisition of a calculated average of 78,39. Second, the writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang are in good qualification. This can be seen from the acquisition of a calculated average of 82,20. Third, there is a significant correlation between reading skills in the description of text description and writing text description skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 9 Padang in the n-1 freedom degree and 95% significant level. H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because the test results prove that the tcount is greater than t table, namely (6,72> 1.68).Â Kata Kunci:Â Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Deskripsi

ABSTRACT Â The purpose of this study is to describe the velues of character education in Tere Liyeâ€™s novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin. The type of this study is qualitative research with descriptive method and using triangulation technique to validate the data. The research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and discourses that show the actions of the characters, the words of the characters and the narrator, which indicate the values of character education found in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin. The data collection technique of this study is to read and understand Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin then recording the data related to character education values in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin in the form of units of events from characterâ€™s behavior. The data analysis technique of this research is describing the values of character education in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin which is seen in a unit of character events, classifying, analyzing data, interpreting, and compiling reports.As the results of the research founded 72 values of character education, namely 5 values of religious character education, 17 values of hard work character education, 4 values of independent character education, 6 values of curiosity character education, 5 values of education value achievement, 9 values of friendly character education, 3 values of character education are fond of reading, 15 values of moral value character education, and 8 values of education responsibility. The most dominant valueof character education in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh ismoral value character education as much as 15 data.Â Kata kunci: Nilai, Pendidikan Karakter, Novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin

ABSTRACTÂ This study aims to describe students short story writing skills using the master copy technique and mind mapping techniques. This type of research is quantitative with analytical descriptive method. Research sampling is done by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used to collect data in this study is the performance test, which is writing short story texts. The research data ini the form of short story writing skills using the master copy technique and mind mapping technique. The research data collection technique is by analyzing students short story writing skills by apllying the master copy technique and mind mapping technique. Indicators used to assess short story writing skills, namely structure, instrinsic elements, and linguistic elements.Â Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that. First, short story writing skills using the master copy the technique of the eleventh grade students of Padang Panjang public high school 2 are in good qualification because the average value of short story text writing skills using the master copy technique is 82.07. Second, short story writing skills using mind mapping techniques of the eleventh grade students of Padang Panjang 2 high school are in excellent qualifications because the average value of short story writing skills using mind mapping technique is 88.26. Third, based on the calculated average values for the two texts, there is a significant different between the short story writing skills using the master copy technique of the eleventh grade students of Padang Panjang 2 high school.Kata kunciÂ : keterampilan menulis, teks cerpen, copy the master, mind mapping

ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this study is three. First, describing reading skills understanding text of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 32 Padang. Second, describing the exposition for writing the text skills of Grade VIII students in Padang Middle School 32 Third, describing the correlation of reading skills in the text comprehension and the exposition for writing text skills for grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 32 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design used is correlational design. The study population was grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 32 Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, which was 196 students. The study sample was determined by proportional random sampling of 25% of the population, namely 49 students. The research data is in the form of a reading skill test score understanding and the score of the exsposition for writing the text exsposition. There are two instruments for this research, namely objective tests to measure reading skills, comprehensionÂ and performance tests to measure the exsposition for writing text skills. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that there was a significant correlation between reading skills, text comprehension, and exsposition writing skills in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 32 Padang. at the real level (Î±) of 95% with n-1 freedom degrees in other words if the reading skills of students 'exsposition text comprehension are good, then students' writing skills are also good. Conversely, if the reading skills of students 'exsposition text comprehension are bad then the students' writing exsposition text skills are also bad.Â Kata Kunci: Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks, Eksposisi

ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this study is three. First, describing reading skills understanding the expositionÂ text of class X students at SMA Negeri 2 Painan. Second, describing the expositionÂ text writing skills of Grade X students inÂ SMA Negeri 2 Painan, describing the correlation of reading skills in the text comprehension expositionÂ and the writing text skills for grade X students of SMA Negeri 2 Painan.Â This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design used is correlational design. The study population was grade X students of SMA Negeri 2 Painan who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, which was 354 students. The study sample was determined by proportional random sampling of 15% of the population, namely 54 students. The research data is in the form of a reading skill test score understanding of the expositionÂ text and the score of writing skills the textÂ exposition. There are two instruments for this research, namely objective tests to measure reading skills, comprehension of text expositionÂ and performance tests to measure for writing text skills. Text comprehensionÂ exposition, and writing skills in class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Painan at the real level (Î±) of 95% with n-1 freedom degrees in other words if the reading skills of students expositionÂ text comprehension are good, then students' writing skills are also good. ABSTRACTÂ This article reveals the contribution of skills reading comprehension text descriptions to writing skills text description grade students VII SMP Negeri Batang Kapas 1. The purpose of this research there are three. First, it describes the skills of reading comprehension text description grade VII SMP Negeri 1 field. Second, it describes the writing skills text description grade VII SMP Negeri 1 field. Third, describing the contribution of the intermediate reading comprehension text descriptions against writing skills text description grade VII SMP Negeri 12 field. The design used in this research is the design contribution. This research population is grade VII SMP Negeri Padang are registered on the 12th school year 2018/2019, i.e. as many as 286 students. The sample in this research are determined by proportional random sampling of 20% of the population, i.e. 54 students. Research data is a score test. The data obtained through two types of tests i.e. objective tests to measure the skills of reading comprehension text description and performance tests to measure the skills of writing a text description.. First, the skills of reading comprehension text description grade VII SMP Negeri Padang 12 are on good qualifications (B) by the value of the average 80.09. Second, the skills of writing text descriptions grade VII SMP Negeri Padang 12 are on good qualifications (B) with an average of 80.86. ABSTRACT This article expressed the characteristics of the sentences in the exposition text of X grade students of Adabiah Padang High School. Two purposes of this study, the first one was to describe the sentence structure (subject, predicate, object, and description) contained in the text of exposition written by XÂ grade. The second aim was to describe the type of sentence based on the number of clauses in the sentence (single Â and compound sentences) contained in the text of exposition of X grade. The type of this research was Â a qualitative using descriptive methods. This research was conducted at Adabiah Padang High School, especially in the Â X grade which the total was 124 students. The entry of this study was the writing of exposition text by X gradeÂ in terms of sentence characteristics (sentence structure and type of Â sentence). Data discussed was qualitative. The data analyzed in the form of sentence characteristics (structure and types of sentences) contained in the exposition text of the work of Â X grade. Source of the data in this research was Â the text of exposition written by X grade. There were two research findings which the first was Â the sentence structure that was widely used by Â X grade was Â S + P + O pattern, the total was 88 sentences from 152 sentences studied. Second, the type of sentences used by X grade were single sentence types, which the amount was 140 sentences from 152 sentences studied.Â Kata kunci: Karakteristik, Kalimat, Teks Eksposisi

The results of the research there are three. First, the skills of reading comprehension text procedure grade VII SMP Negeri Padang 10 are on good qualifications (B) by the value of the average 80.09. Second, the skills of writing text procedure grade VII SMP Negeri Padang 10 are on good qualifications (B) with an average of 80.71. ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this research there are three. First, describing news text writing skills. Second, describe the skills of listening to news texts. Third, describe the correlation of listening to news text skills with news text writing skills. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design of this research is correlational. The population in this research were all eighth grade students of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 of Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year, namely 223 student. There are two variable in this research, namely the dependent variable (Y) the ability to write news text and the independent variable (X) the skill of listening to news text. The data in this study were scores on the skills of writing news texts and skills score listening to news texts. The instrument used is a test, which is an objective test for listening to news text skills and performance tests for news text writing skills. The results of this research are three. First, news text writing skills of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 of Padang are in good qualification (80,75). Second, listening to the news text skills of clas VIII SMP Negeri 34 of Padang are in good qualification (77,57). Third, listening to news text skill correlates with news text writing skills.
