Abstract

ABSTRACT This article reveals the  politeness strategy for students speaking to lecturers through WhatsApp communication. There are the four purposes of this research. First, describe the student’s speaking strategy to lecturers via WhatsApp communication. Second, describe the principle of politeness to lecturers through WhatsApp. Third, describe the scale of student language politeness. Fourth, describe the politeness of student language to lecturers. The design of this study is qualitative with descriptive method. This research was conducted at the Indonesian Language Education Study Program, Padang State university. The data was collected from two semesters, namely the odd semester of July―Desember 2019 and the even semester of Januari―June 2020. Basedon the results of the study, it can be concluded that the most widely used strategy is the strategy of speaking using negative politeness and student speech can be said to be polite. Kata kunci: Strategi, Kesantunan Bertutur, Mahasiswa kepada Dosen, Komunikasi WhatsApp.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the use of sentences in students' explanatory text in terms of four things. First, the use of sentences in terms of structural clarity, there are 192 (39.43%) errors. The use of sentences that are clearly active or passive structures (46 errors), the subject is not in the form of an explanation (11 errors), the predicate is not lost (33 errors), the information is not in the form of a subject (93 errors), and the subject is not lost (9 errors). Second, the use of sentences in terms of logical meaning, there are 98 (20.12%) errors. The use of inappropriate sentences is seen from the logical relationship between S and P (63 errors) and the logical relationship between the meaning of details (35 errors). Third, the use of sentences in terms of saving words is 105 (21.56%). Inaccurate use of the sentence on one subject from the same subject (14 errors), one word from several words is synonymous (no errors), and using the words needed to express the author's intent (91 errors). Fourth, the use of sentences in terms of the standard of words, there were 92 (18.89%) errors. This research is a qualitative research with an explanatory text sample of 25 students of class XI SMA Negeri 3 Payakumbuh. Based on these results it can be concluded that the use of sentences in the explanatory text of class XI students of SMA Negeri 3 Payakumbuh still has many errors.

Abstract

This research has the following objectives. First, to describe the level of vocabulary mastery in journalism for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Second, to describe the skill level of writing news texts for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of vocabulary mastery in the field of journalism to the writing skills of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive methods and uses a correlational research design. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 25 Padang who were registered in the 2020/2021 academic year, totaling 252 students from 8 classes and 63 samples. The sampling technique used was proportional random sampling, namely sampling based on the number of student proportions per class. In this study, the independent variable (X) is the vocabulary mastery of journalism for the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang and the dependent variable (Y) is the writing skills for the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. Based on the results of the analysis and explanation of the data, three conclusions were drawn. First, the vocabulary mastery of journalistic vocabulary for the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang in good qualifications (84.37). Second, the skills in writing news texts of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang are in good qualifications (82.14). Third, mastery of environmental vocabulary contributes to the skills of writing news texts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. However, skills in writing news texts require mastery of journalistic vocabulary. Kata Kunci : kontribusi, pemahaman kosakata bidang jurnalistik, keterampilan menulis teks berita.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the following things. First, the values of Islamic morality expressed in the novel by Father Hirata Andrea. Second, the motives of the characters in having Islamic morality in the novel by Father Hirata Andrea. Third, the impact of having Islamic character on the characters in Andrea Hirata's Father's novel. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data used in this study are words, groups of words, and sentences that contain Islamic moral values. This research is sourced from the novel Father by Andrea Hirata. The instrumentation in this study is the researcher as the main instrument. Then, data collection is done using observation techniques. The results of the research in the novel Andrea Hirata's Father are as follows. First, there are 61 data on Islamic moral values in Andrea Hirata's father's novel, which is divided into two, namely 43 praiseworthy moral data and 18 sad moral data. Second, there are the motives of the characters to have Islamic morals consisting of two, namely internal motives and external motives. Third, the impact of having commendable and despicable morals for the characters in Andrea Hirata's Father's novel is also divided into two, namely positive and negative impacts.  Kata kunci : Nilai, Akhlak Islam, Novel Ayah

Abstract

The speech code that varies in Seluma Regency is very varied because there are young families or people who come from different ethnic groups. This study aims to describe the functions and factors behind the use of various codes in young families in Padang Rambun Village, Seluma Regency. The type of research in this study is to use a theoretical and methodological approach. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. The theoretical approach used is a sociolinguistic approach, namely an approach that relates to the theory or science of language use with the community in this study the science of language use in young family communities in Padang Rambun Village. While the methodological approach is a qualitative descriptive approach. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there were six functions in the speech acts of young families, namely emotive, conative, referential, poetic, fatic, and metalingual functions. The factors behind the occurrence of various codes in the speech acts of young families in Padang Rambun Village, Seluma Regency, there are two factors, namely, the occurrence of transmigration and the number of young families.Kata Kunci: Ragam Kode, Tindak Tutur, Keluarga Muda, Kelurahan Padang Rambun.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the intrinsic elements, the values of love in the novel Rinai Kabut Singgalang by Muhammad Subhan, and their implications in the study of novel texts. This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data in this study are words, phrases and sentences in the novel Rinai Kabut Singgalang by Muhammad Subhan relating to the value of love. Data analysis techniques in this study, namely the collected data were identified, then inventory data, classify data, interpret data, and draw conclusions. Based on the results of the study, found the value of love in the novel Rinai Kabut Singgalang by Muhammad Subhan and its implications in the study of novel texts. First, the value of love for God, with indicators of carrying out obligations as Muslims, avoiding the prohibition of Allah, and always remembering Allah. Second, the value of love for the family, with indicators to support the family, love children, serve parents, and love one another. Third, the value of love for others, with indicators of doing good to others, helping each other with friends, and loving the opposite sex. Fourth, the value of love for oneself, with indicators of self-preservation, actualization and developing one's potential, as well as being happy and peaceful. Fifth, the implication of the value of love in the novel Rinai Kabut Singgalang by Muhammad Subhan in learning text novels for class XII 2013 curriculum.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to describe the text structure of the report of the observation and describe the text of the observation report of class VII from SMP Negeri 18 Padang. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive method. The data source in this study is the text of the observation of students of class VII SMP Negeri 18 Padang, written by students in grades VII. 2 numbering thirty texts. The instruments in this study are researchers themselves. Data is analyzed by describing, analyzing, and discussing data based on theory. The results of this study are first, in the text of the observation of students of class VII SMP Negeri 18 Padang is found three text structures of observation results report, namely general definition, section description, and conclusion. Secondly, in the text of the observation of class VII students SMP Negeri 18 Padang, generally students have used the fourth feature of the text of observation report. It can be concluded that the structure and characteristics of the text in the observation report of grade VII students SMP Negeri 18 Padang is good. It can be seen from the thirty texts of the observation report analyzed, twenty-six texts of the observation report already has a complete structure and of the thirty text of the observation report analyzed, the twenty-four texts have used the full text feature of the observation report. Kata kunci: Struktur, Ciri Kebahasaan, Teks Laporan Hasil Observas

Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure, content, and linguistic elements ofprocedural texts for class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 5 Padang. This research is aqualitative research using descriptive method. The data of this study, namely thestructure, content and linguistic elements of procedure texts were obtained from 30procedural texts written by class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 5 Padang. Theresearch instrument is the researcher himself. Data analysis is done by describing thedata, analyzing the data, and discussing the data based on theory. Based on the resultsof the study, it was concluded that in terms of the structure of the procedural text,students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Padang tended to use two parts of thestructure, namely the steps and the closing. In terms of the content of the proceduraltext, the students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Padang were able to write down thecontents of the procedure text correctly. This is evident from all the procedure textsthat have been analyzed, most of the students have written procedure textssystematically and in detail, containing steps, and there are sequence numbers. Interms of linguistic elements, students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Padang have beenable to use the linguistic elements of procedural texts appropriately.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Pertama, Mendeskripsikan bagaimana validitas e-book interaktif untuk pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 8 Padang. Kedua, Mendeskripsikan bagaimana validitas e-book interaktif berbasis kearifan lokal ditinjau dari segi kelayakan isi, kelayakan kebahasaan, kelayakan penyajian, dan kelayakan kegrafikkan dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah mixed methods atau yang biasa dikenal dengan metode penelitian campuran.  Model  campuran yang  digunakan  adalah   model   4-D yang terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), pengembangan (develop), dan penyebaran (disseminate). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan kevalidan e-book interaktif sebesar 94,44 % dengan kategori sangat valid. Kevalidan aspek isi sebesar 87,5 % (sangat valid), kevalidan aspek bahasa sebesar 90 % (sangat valid), kevalidan aspek penyajian sebesar 100 % (sangat valid) dan kevalidan aspek kegrafikan sebesar 82,14% (sangat valid). Berdasarkan hasil validitas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-book interaktif untuk keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 8 Padang dapat dikatakan sudah valid untuk dilanjutkan ketahap selanjutnya.Kata kunci: validitas, e-book interaktif, dan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi

Abstract

Abstract Study mean to explain the following two things. First, it describes the moral values of the novel My Father, Not a lie by Tere Liye. Second, the behavior shown in the characters. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive methods. The data source in this study is the novel My Father, Not a lie by Tere Liye. The data in this study are in the form of statement sentences, dialogues, and paragraphs. Data collection techniques, namely reading and marking events through the character's speech and the behavior shown by the characters. Second, recording data about moral values found in this novel by looking at the character's speech. Third, inventory data using inventory data tables. The technique of validating the data used a detailed description technique. The research result shows the following matters. First, the moral values in the novel My Father, Not a lie by Tere Liye contain 63 units of events. Second, the behavior shown in the novel My Father, Not a lie by Tere Liye, good morals consists of 53 units of events, while the behavior of bad moral values consists of 10 units of events. Kata Kunci: Nilai, Moral, Novel, Implikasi
