Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of metacognitive-based biology learning process towardsstudents’ cognitive competenceon environmental Pollution subject of class X SMA Plus Putra Bangsa Tangerang District. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method. The population was all class X MIA with X MIA 1 of 17 people as the control sample and X MIA 2 of 18 people as the experimental sample. The instrument in this research were a test of students’ cognitive competence, a metacognitive competence questionnaire, and a compliance sheet. Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that there were differences in cognitive competence of students between the experimental class that was treated using a metacognitive basis and the control class that was treated using a conventional basis on environmental Pollution subject. The average score of cognitive competence in the control class was 53.09 which was included in the “sufficient cognitive” category. The result showedthe score of 68.61, which was included in the “goodcognitive” category. In the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that there was an impact of the use of Metacognitive-based learning process on students’ cognitive competence on environmental pollution subject.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes in learning in class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta is still low. Factors causing low learning outcomes include not using any learning model and still being teacher-centered. This study aimed to determine the effect of Discovery learning learning models on student learning outcomes in the digestive system material class VIII at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta. This type of research is a quasi-experiment. This study's population were all VIII grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta consisting of five classes, namely classes A, B, C, D, and E, with 140 students. In this study, purposive sampling was conducted based on certain considerations so that 2 class samples were obtained, namely class VIII C as the control class and VIII E as the experimental class. Data collection techniques with tests. Data collection instruments were in the form of pretest and posttest questions. The analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative. Research Results Learning outcomes were analyzed by t-test statistics at the level of significance 5% obtained t-count 0.302 and t-table = 2.01063, so t-count < t-table. Therefore, the Discovery learning model does not affect the learning outcomes of VIII grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Development of learning media with Autoplay Media Studio program accompanied by instructions for warm-up body in answering evaluations is based on the fact that during the Covid-19 pandemic this limited all student activity and learning. The decrease in the activity of student will disrupt the body's metabolism because just live at home or boarding house so that it is difficult to learn and even understand material when online lecturing. The addition of exercise warm-up instruction to this learning media aims to make students not only learn to understand material, but also practice their bodies during pandemic period they can still maintain body fitness. Development method uses five stages called the ADDIE model. Products in the form of media containing digestive system material with various types of data in the form of writing, images and videos combined in one compact disk. Two validators conducted an assessment of the correctness of the material content and media appearance. The results of media validation get a 98.61% and material validation get 98.53% score with very valid criteria and not revised. Results of product trials on 25 students showed 96% of students rated the appearance of the media as attractive and 4% rated the display in medium criteria. The use of media accompanied by warm-up movements, including the criteria for helping students learn independently in pandemic, was expressed by 68% of students, 24% of students stated that media was included in the medium criteria and 8% of students stated that the media could not help.

Abstract

Education important element develop knowledge make shape one’s character. Quality of education can be improved by paying attention to the curriculum and learning media used. 2013 curriculum based science textbooks and student worksheets are a medium used by student to study natural science in class VIII SMPN 11 Padang. The availability of learning resources at school is still lacking, so that students are less motivated in learning science, in addition to the lack of availability of learning resources, other factors that cause low motivation of students because textbooks are used thickly and are difficult to carry anywhere. Based on the weaknesses that were found, the booklet was developed as an independent learning resources of natural science in class VIII junior high school. Booklet media development is made as attractive as possible, so that students are motivated to learn science. This development research uses a Plomp development model consisting of (preliminary research), (development and prototyping phase), and assessment phase (assessment phase). Data analysis is qualitative and quantitative. Booklet development stage is validated by 2 validators. At the assessment stage uses one to one evaluation by 3 student in class VIII of the SMPN 11 Padang which has high, medium, and low academic abilities. Validity test result obtained of 87,62% with very valid criteria and results of one to one evaluation showed that the developed booklet had an attractive appearance and language that was easy to understand, sothat students were interested in using booklets in the learning process. Based on this, it can be concluded that the human circulatory system booklet as an independent teaching material of natural science developed is valid and suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Utilizing the environment as the learning resource can enhance learning activities, but on biodiversity material, teachers have not been able to apply this system on teaching and learning activities. This study aims to determine the level of diversity of Bivalves in the intertidal zone and to analyze the requirements of learning resources. The type of this study is a literature study, which is designed in a narrative review. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis. The results showed that the Bivalve diversity index belonged to different categories, namely low, medium to high. Based on the analysis of the requirements for learning resources for biology, the results of the study have met the requirements as a source for learning Biology in class X on biodiversity material.

Abstract

The preparation of papers and reports is also an alternative solution to the problem of low reading and writing skills among students. The improvement of reading and writing skills is integrated in the preparation of papers and reports through a lateral thinking style in finding problem-solving solutions. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach to describe the lateral thinking skills of second semester science teacher candidate students in the preparation of papers and reports conducted during twelve meetings. The study population involved a total of 36 students of the Department of Natural Science Education, Campus III FKIP Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Jalan Ciwaru Raya, Serang, Banten. Some of the aspects contained in the assessment rubric are the systematics of papers and reports, the flow of thought and the casting of ideas. The number of students who managed to get the highest score at the meeting before UTS was 18 students, 6 students scored 88, 6 students scored 84 and 6 students scored 82. These results differ from the number of students who managed to get the highest score at the meeting after the UTS, namely 6 students, 6 students scored 86, 18 students scored 84 and 6 students scored 82. The existence of differences in results at the meeting before and after the implementation of the UTS is an indication that presenting learning activities that provide experiences to students involves the role of several aspects. Some of these aspects include the scope of the problem, the choice of learning methods and the learning experiences of previous students.

Abstract

Biology is one of the branches of IPA. Biology as one of science subjects has different principles with other science subjects. It has many concepts contained in biology. One of the complex bilogical materials contained in biology and difficult to understand by learners's the material about classification of living things. In addition, the material classification of living things commonly used terms that difficult to understand by learners. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the concepts in the material classification of living things that have not been or have been understood by students. This study aims to analyze the understanding of the concept of classification of living things in class VII students in SMPN 8 Padang. The type of this research is descriptive research. The sample was taken by simple random sampling technique, with 48 students. The research was conducted by giving multiple choice test questions with open reasoning. Data were analyzed quantitatively. The result of the research showed that the students of class VII in SMPN 8 Padang experienced the level of understanding of the concept on the low category. Low comprehension of concepts includes the concepts of the characteristics of living things 41.66%; basic classification of living creatures 25.00%; 12.50% determination key concepts; monera and protista groups 16.93%; features of Kingdom Fungi 21.88%; features of Kingdom Plantae 20.83%; the difference between moss, ferns and seed plants 18.23%; the features of Kingdom Animalia 9.38% and the difference between Vertebrate and Invertebrate animals 16.02%.
