Abstract

High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) requires students to connect, analyze, and also transform their knowledges and experiences. To determine students' high-level thinking skills, we can use assessment instruments. A good instrument should be valid and reliable so it is feasible to measure and assess what it wants to be measured and assessed. Therefore it is necessary to know the level of validity and reliability of the higher order thinking assessment instruments. The instrument used in this study in the scope of biology material. This type of research is descriptive research. The subjects of this study were students of grade X MIPA 5 SMA 5 Padang. Based on the results of data analysis, the assessment instrument of high order thinking skill on biological scope material is logically valid, empirical valid and reliable.

This study aims to determine the influence of the application of Problem Solving Model towards higher order thinking skills and learning activities of Class X students in SMAN 3 Bukittinggi. This type of research is an experimental study with a Random Design Only Posttest Design Group. The research subjects were 32 students of Class X MIPA 2 SMAN 3 Bukittinggi who were registered in the 2019/2020 school year. The research instrument for obtaining high order thinking skills data is an objective form of question sheet, while the learning activities data obtained through the observation sheet filled by observers. The results showed the average value obtained in the class applied the Problem Solving Model was 76.06. This value is higher when compared to the average value in the control class, which is 66.19. Learning activities of students with the application of the Problem Solving Model, namely for oral activity 73.44%, visual activity 93.76%, and writing activity 96.88%. This percentage is also higher than the control class which has a percentage of 42.19%, 84.38%, and 75%. Based on the results of the study, it can be conclude that the Problem Solving Model has a significant positive effect on the increase in high order thinking skills and learning activities of Class X students of SMAN 3 Bukittinggi. The development of instructional especially media of a herbarium book is an innovation that aims to assist students in searching directly the object of leaf morphology studies. This development research starts from the needs analysis stage which is used to gather information, planning in media making, media design, media making, after that product validation by a team of media experts and material experts, then testing individual products, small groups and large groups. The subject of this product testing were students of the Biology Education Study Program at Pasir Pengaraian University. The results of the validation by the material experts showed that the quality of learning media using the herbarium book on leaf morphology material was included in the "very feasible" criteria, with an average score of 86.46%. The results of validation by media experts are included in the "very feasible" criteria, with an average score of 88.54%. Individual assessment obtained the criteria of "very feasible", with an average score of 84.16%. Judgement from small groups obtained a percentage of eligibility of 81.45% with very feasible criteria, and judgement from large groups of 83.95% with "very feasible" criteria. Abstract

The learning process of biology at SMAN 1 Batusangkar has used modules but has not used a scientific approach, so that it fully complies with the demands of the 2013 curriculum. While the models used in the learning process are not fully in accordance with the demands of the 2013 curriculum. 2013, the module can be used with a scientific approach in the Discovery learning learning model in the learning process. The aims of this study is to see the effect of the use of modules with a scientific approach to the material of Archaebacteria and Eubacteria in the Discovery learning learning model on biology learning competencies of students of class X MIPA SMAN 1 Batusangkar on Archaebacteria and Eubacteria. This research is an experimental study with the research design of The Static Group Comparison Design. The results showed that the use of modules with a scientific approach to the material of Archaebacteria and Eubacteria in the Discovery learning learning model did not have a positive effect on the competency of biological knowledge and had a positive effect on the competency of attitudes and biology skills of students.

Abstract

The life organization system is one of the learning materials for class VII SMP/MTS students. When making observations with the questionnaire method, it appears that students do not understand the material, this is because students are not invited to associate learning material with students' daily contexts. The contextual approach can be integrated in the form of a Student Worksheet (LKPD). The purpose of developing LKPD based on a contextual approach is expected to make it easier for students to understand the learning material. This type of research is development research using 4-D model with three stages, namely define, design and develop. The define phase is the stage of establishing and defining learning conditions. The design phase is the stage of preparing the LKPD prototype to be developed. The develop stage is the stage of producing LKPD based on a contextual approach and validity testing is done by four validators and practicality tests by two teachers and 30 students of SMP N 13 Padang. The average value of the validity of the Contextual Based LKPD is 82% with valid criteria. The average value of the practice by teacher is 83% with practical criteria. The average value of the practice carried out by students is 88% with practical criteria. This it was concluded that LKPD based on the contextual approach developed had valid and practical criteria.

Abstract

The ability to think critically has a pattern of thinking that can improve learning outcomes, because it can provide new ideas to solve a problem. This study aims to determine the relationship between critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in invertebrate material. This research was conducted from March to May 2020 in one of the high schools in Tasikmalaya. The research method used is the correlational method with a population of all class X math and science students as many as 6 classes. Samples were taken by using purposive sampling as many as 2 classes namely class X math and science 3 and X math and science 4. Data collection techniques carried out by giving posttest as many as 8 items in the form of description to measure critical thinking skills and 25 items in the form of multiple choice to measure student learning outcomes . The data analysis technique used is correlation regression with α 0.05. The results of the research, data analysis and hypothesis testing show that there is a positive correlation between the ability to think critically with student learning outcomes on invertebrate material. with a yield of 24.2% and fall into the medium category.

Abstract

The education system in curriculum 2013 is emphasizing the active participation of students in learning by making students as subjects of learning. The application of the role of students as learning subjects can be maximized by the use of instructional media. Learning media commonly used in schools are students' books and student worksheets. The analysis that has been carried out reveals that the student book and the Student Worksheet have a weakness that is the appearance that does not attract students' interest and is not accompanied by relevant illustrations. This weakness was later made a reference to develop a respiratory system booklet in humans as a supplement to natural science learning for students of grade VIII junior high school. This research is a research development using the Plomp method. The research phase consisted of the preliminary research, development and prototypingt phase, and assessment phase. Data analysis uses quantitative and qualitative analysis. The booklet is validated by two validators. The booklet assessment stage is done by evaluating one using three students with different academic abilities. The results are obtaining booklets with a validation value of 89.56%. This study uses a self-evaluation questionnaire, expert reviews, and one-on-one evaluation. The conclusion obtained is that the booklet has very valid criteria and is very suitable for use as a learning supplement.
