Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of Indonesia's geographical location on the equator on the dynamics of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) resources. The main objective is to examine how Indonesia's astronomical characteristics and tropical climate affect oceanographic conditions, the biological aspects of skipjack tuna, and the economic implications for fisheries. The method employed is a comprehensive literature review of various scientific sources, including recent journals and research reports. The findings indicate that Indonesia's equatorial position creates stable water temperatures and high primary productivity, supporting year-round growth and reproduction of skipjack tuna. Skipjack tuna is a major capture fishery commodity with significant economic value for Indonesia. However, global climate change poses negative impacts, including fluctuating fishing seasons and unstable fishermen's incomes. The conclusion emphasizes the need for adaptive and sustainable skipjack tuna fishery management to preserve resources and ensure the well-being of fishing communities amidst environmental challenges.

Abstract

Silkworms (Tubifex sp.) play an important role because they can stimulate faster fish growth, especially in seed production. This study aims to analyze and observe the effect of EM-4 administration on tofu dregs on increasing silkworm biomass (Tubifex sp.). The method used in this study is the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experimental method with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The administration treatments used were P1 EM-4 activator mixture 0 ml/10 g tofu dregs, P2 EM-4 activator mixture 1 ml/10 g tofu dregs, P3 EM-4 activator mixture 2 ml/10 g tofu dregs, P4 EM-4 activator mixture 3 ml/10 g tofu dregs, P5 EM-4 activator mixture 4 ml/10 g tofu dregs. The results of the EM-4 administration treatment on tofu dregs had a significant effect on increasing biomass in treatment 5, producing a value of 10.28 ± 0.80e.

Abstract

Laut Tawar Lake is a stagnant body of water located in Central Aceh, covering an area of 5,740.10 hectares. One of the fishery resources in Laut Tawar Lake. Freshwater lobsters live in the crevices of rocks, creating holes in the muddy bottom for hiding. The CCRF (Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries) is an international principle and standard regarding behavioral patterns for irresponsible practices to achieve sustainable fisheries. This study aims to determine environmentally friendly freshwater lobster fishing gear based on the CCRF, with three types of fishing gear: Seruwe, Segapa, and Gallon traps. This study was conducted in December 2024. The results showed that the Segapa trap received a score of 33, the Seruwe trap received a score of 34, and the Gallon trap received a score of 30. When categorized into four categories of environmental friendliness of fishing gear, namely categories 28 to 36, it can be concluded that all three fishing gear are environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Shrimp farming is a business that is in great demand because it has promising prospects and profits. This study aims to analyze the mineral content of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farming water in Purworejo Village, Pasir Sakti Subdistrict, Lampung Timur District. Mineral parameters observed were calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), potassium (K), and sodium (Na). Water sample were taken at DOC 5, DOC 20, and DOC 35 in three different ponds. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The result obtained were Ca content ranging from 186,7-266,7 mg/L, Mg ranging from 307,4-396,4 mg/L, K ranging from 43,3-70,8 mg/L, and Na ranging from 1767,5-4308,6 mg/L. This indicates that the mineral content in vaname shrimp culture water is low because it is below the optimal standard range. Therefore, additional treatments is needed in the maintenance media so that the mineral content increases and supports the sustainability of vaname shrimp farming activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and determine the dosage of soybean extract that can increase the motility of catfish sperm stored at preservation temperature. The research method used is RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with 4 treatments 3 replications where P1 0 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm, P2 0.3 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm, P3 0.6 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm, and P4 0.8 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm. The pH of catfish sperm before and after mixing soybean extract is 8. While after cryopreservation, the pH in treatment P1 is 5, treatments P2 and P4 are 6, and in treatment P3 with a value of 7. The volume of sperm used in treatments P1, P2, P3, and P4 before being diluted is 3 ml. The color of catfish sperm in P1 is milky white, while in P2, P3, P4 the color of the sperm is cream and smells fishy. Meanwhile, the viscosity level in P1 was thick, P2 was thin, and P3 and P4 were liquid. The results of observations of catfish sperm motility obtained the best value in treatment P3 (0.6 ml of soybean extract/1 ml of sperm) with a value of 2.6 (good). Meanwhile, the worst motility value was obtained in treatment P1 (without the addition of extract) with a motility value of 0.6, which is considered poor.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of measuring the length and weight of the Jackfruit Seed Fish (Upeneus moluccensis). The number of fish samples used was 111 fish. With the overall length of the fish samples ranging from 105 mm to 165 mm, where the dominant total length of the fish caught was in the average range of 130.31 mm. Meanwhile, the weight of the Jackfruit Seed Fish (Upeneus moluccensis) ranged from 18 to 66 grams, with an average fish weight of 35.76 grams. The results of the calculation of the b value obtained for the Jackfruit Seed Fish (Upeneus moluccensis) at the Belawan Ocean Fishery Port were 2.86. Based on the b value obtained, it can be stated that the length of the fish weight is <3, (negative allometric) which means that the growth in length is faster than the growth in weight.
