Abstract

Lobster is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia, with export destinations to Japan, Hong Kong, the USA, and several other countries. In export activities, high mortality is caused by stress during transportation, causing farmers to suffer losses. This research can be an alternative solution to reduce the mortality rate in the transportation of crayfish, which is carried out using a variety of different substrates as transport media. This study aims to determine the effect of using different substrates as filler media for the transport container on the survival of crayfish, which were transported for 6 hours using different substrates, namely paper, raffia rope, coconut fiber, and cotton. The research method used was a completely randomized design. (RAL). The results of this study showed that the transportation of crayfish with different substrates showed survival results on 93% paper substrate, 90% raffia rope, 96% coconut fiber, and 100% cotton. After 10 days of maintenance, the survival of crayfish decreased because the crayfish experienced stress during the transportation test. This was due to a lack of oxygen and moisture in the substrate used during transportation. The highest post-maintenance survival occurred at P4 of 76% and P3 of 75%, while at P1 it was 57% and at P2 it was 67%.

Abstract

in the marine living sector, specifically in the capture and aquaculture sector, Indonesia is still experiencing difficulties in meeting sustainability standards. The sustainability value of Indonesian fisheries in the Ocean Health Index (OHI) is ranked 175th out of 220 countries in the food provision indicator which calculates food security from maritime resources with the ability to balance ecology and exploitation. The decline in ecological balance, such as the carrying capacity of the sea, is caused by conservation that is less oriented towards sustainable management. This research aims to describe the application of the blue economy concept in Indonesia in an effort to realize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 14: life below water. The method used in this research is the literature study research method using descriptive analysis techniques. One of the uses of marine resources in Indonesia is in the fisheries and mining sectors. Capture fisheries production in Indonesia has increased every year, based on data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in 2019, the total production of captured fish in 2017 was 6,424,114 tonnes, in 2018 it was 6,701,834 tonnes, and in 2019 it was 7,164,302 tonnes. Meanwhile, the energy and mineral resources sectors still make a major contribution to national development. The oil and gas subsector has made the largest contribution to the energy and mineral resources sector over the last three years, with an average contribution of 30% to GDP. Through the blue economy concept, it is a concept that ensures the preservation of marine resources and the coastal environment and encourages the use of resources to improve the economy in the marine and fisheries industrial sector. The strategy for implementing the blue economy concept is certainly relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 14, namely life below water or marine ecosystems.

Abstract

Climate change is an intensifying global challenge, affecting various aspects of life, including Indonesia's maritime geography. This research aims to analyze the impact of climate change on Indonesia's maritime geography through a literature study approach. The two main aspects considered are sea level rise and changes in ocean temperature and their impacts. Through a synthesis of recent literature, it was found that sea level rise can result in significant changes in shoreline configuration, while changes in ocean temperature can affect marine ecosystems and ocean current patterns.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and determine the effect of providing probiotics on the dynamics of water quality in several intensive system vannamei shrimp ponds. The research method uses a survey method, namely taking samples directly in the field. The results of the research obtained optimal water quality parameters for the survival of vannamei shrimp in ponds A and B, namely salinity, temperature, depth, brightness, DO, pH, alkalinity, nitrite, nitrate and total hardness, while in pond C the optimal parameters were salinity, temperature, depth, brightness, DO, pH, alkalinity and total hardness. The best water quality for the growth of vannamei shrimp is found in pond A, because with a stocking density of 168 thousand fish and giving probiotics twice a week, it can produce good water quality compared to ponds B and C with probiotics given three times a week, so it can benefit farmers because of reduced use probiotics. The results of observations of phytoplankton in ponds A, B and C obtained the species Chatoceros, Dinobryon, Lauderia, Lingulodinium, Nodularia, Oscillatoria, Planktothrix, Proboscia. Meanwhile, zooplankton in ponds A, B, C were obtained by Acartia, Amphipleura pellucida, Boeckella triarticulata, Nematodes genus.

Abstract

Accurate determination of fishing zone gives an abundance result of fish capturing. However, fishermen in the north water of Aceh have difficulties in deciding such position and are resulting to the minimum yields. This thesis uses MODIS satellite imaging to overcomes such problem by (1) determining the spreading and SPL variation, and a-chlorophyll in the north water of Aceh, (2) finding the composition quantity and size of fish (Decapterus spp.) from fishing zone, and (3) predicting fishing zone in the north water of Aceh. This study uses survey methodology consist of field data (in-situ) and satellite image data (ex-situ). It is performed by three steps, (1) field surveying in the study location, (2) collecting field data, and (3) downloading SPL image and a-chlorophyll from MODIS satellite. Results found that relationship between SPL and a-chlorophyll toward yields and sizes are non linear, with least square (R2) of about 0.012 and 0.002. Furthermore, SPL and chlorophyll are varied in each seasonal period at the range from 27.53oC to 29.05oC and from 0.20 mg/m3 to 0.26 mg/m3. Sizes of fish captured using purse seine are not complying with the current standard and are included under category of restricted to be captured. Fishing ground Indian Scad (decapterus spp) in North water of Aceh on Pulo Beras and is a potential area, while Sabang, Pulo Nasi, Lhok Nga, Laot Aceh dan Peukan Bada included to medium potential area.

Abstract

Catfish (Pangasius pangasius) is one of the fishery commodities with high economic value, both in seeding and rearing efforts. However, increasing the production of good-quality catfish seeds has so far relied on the help of the pituitary. This study aims to determine the effect of differences in storage temperature on catfish sperm motility. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications, namely P1 (-5°C/1 cc sperm), P2 (-15°C/1 cc sperm), P3 (5°C/1 cc sperm), and P4 (15°C/1 cc sperm). The parameters observed included pH, color, odor, volume, and sperm motility. The results of the observation showed that the best sperm motility was obtained at P1 (-5°C/1 cc sperm) with a value of 2.6 (good criteria). At P3 (5°C/1 cc sperm) and P4 (15°C/1 cc sperm), sperm motility was in the poor criteria with values of 2 and 1.6, respectively. The lowest motility value was obtained at P2 (-15°C/1 cc sperm) with a motility value of 1 (poor criteria).
