Abstract

Currently, Labuan Bajo is a premium tourist destination. The status as a premium tourist destination has increased the tourism industry in Labuan Bajo. Tourism development in Labuan Bajo needs to be followed by the quality of tourism industry services, including accommodation services. One form of accommodation service is homestay. One of the obstacles homestays face is the inability to provide quality services to guests. Therefore, homestay managers in Labuan Bajo need excellent service training for homestay management. The implementation of this community service activity consists of three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. At the implementation stage, the method used is lectures and discussions about service quality (SERVQUAL) and the five components of SERVQUAL. The pre-test and post-test methods were also used to measure the increase in understanding. There are six questions for the pre-test and post-test sessions. The pre-test results showed that the average level of correctness of the answers reached 89%, and the post-test results reached 93%. The correctness of the answers in the pre-test and post-test sessions showed that the participants experienced an increased understanding of quality services. Based on the results of the implementation of this excellent service training activity, it is recommended that homestay managers need training activities to improve their ability and understanding of homestay managers. In addition, training with the theme of optimizing social media as a digital promotion channel is also needed by homestay managers in Labuan Bajo.

Abstract

Kemplang crackers are a traditional food that is very popular with Indonesian people. In the process of making it, it requires proper drying process so that when frying it produces crispy kemplang crackers when eaten. The problem in society is that the drying process is not optimal due to weather factors resulting in a reduced production process or product quality not as desired. For this reason, the Chemical Engineering Study Program held PKM in Jejawi village. By designing a kemplang cracker dryer by utilizing the greenhouse effect it is designed to overcome the existing problems. From the results of direct testing in the field in Jejawi village, the water content can be separated up to 6.95%.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a very high level of consumption of cooking oil where the amount of used cooking oil waste, is also very high in Indonesia. In general, this waste is not utilized optimally resulting in environmental pollution. To overcome the problems associated with used cooking oil, efforts are made so that this waste does not pollute the environment. One of the uses of used cooking oil is making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. Aromatherapy candles are candles that are made by adding fragrances with various purposes and benefits that can be used as room fresheners and to calm down. Counseling and candle making training was attended by members of the youth posyandu in Sibang Kaja Village, Abiansemal District. Participants experienced an increase in knowledge after being given an explanation regarding the manufacture of aromatherapy candle products with an initial value of 77.2% and a final value of 91.2%. From these data it shows that the difference in the average knowledge value of the participants' pretest and posttest is 14%. The existence of this value difference indicates that there is a difference between knowledge among the community before counseling and making aromatherapy candles and after this activity is carried out.

Abstract

Currently, the participation of young Catholics in the life of the church is very concerning. Their motivation, interest and concern for the growth and development of the Church, here and now, is very low. This problem is also experienced by most young Catholics in the Holy Spirit Stasi, Arus, Bangka Arus Village, East Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai Regency. So that, the solution offered by the PkM team to this problem is an effort to assist and re-strengthen their participation in church life. The stages and methods in this empowerment activity are starting with preparation and planning, then organizing and assisting activities, and ending with monitoring and evaluation. The target of this PkM is all young Catholics in Arus, Bangka Arus Village, District Lamba Leda Timur, East Manggarai Regency. The final results of the PkM show that the Catholic youth in the Holy Spirit, Arus, was very enthusiastic in participating in ecclesiastical activities. They are increasingly aware of and paying attention to the life of the church, especially in aspect fellowship, worship, preaching, and aspects of service.

Abstract

Dental health or now referred to as oral health is the well-being of the oral cavity including the teeth and their structures and supporting tissues free from disease, and the mouth and its supporting tissues function optimally, which will cause disease. Statistics show that dental and oral diseases affect almost everyone. (Sriyono, 2011 in Listrianah). For dental and oral health, based on Riskesdas 2018 data, it was recorded that the proportion of dental and oral problems for the 3-4 year age group was 41.1% and the 5-9 year age group was 67.3% and those who received services from dental medical personnel for the age 3-4 years by 4.3% and age group 5-9 years by 14.6%. The proportion of dental and oral health and hygiene care counseling behavior for the 3-4 year age group was 5.4% and the 5-9 year age group was 8.3%. Seeing the existing phenomenon that the dental and oral health of the Indonesian people needs to be improved and paid attention to and generally children entering school age have a risk of dental caries, this condition of dental caries can cause the child to experience chewing power which gradually disappears and digestive disorders, as a result of this there will be less than optimal growth (Sinaga, 2013). This will interfere with learning concentration, frequency of attendance at school and affect appetite and food intake so that it will impact on children's nutritional status (Worotitjan et al, 2013; Permatasari, 2014). This activity was carried out for 2 days, where on the first day there were counseling activities after that they carried out mass tooth brushing and continued on the second day a dental examination was carried out by the medical team from the Lelak Health Center.

Abstract

Ponteh Village area is one of the villages in Pamekasan Regency, in Ponteh Village there is a Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) which is engaged in the trade sector by providing materials to help the surrounding community to grow crops. Basic accounting training and the preparation of BUMDes economic reviews are key to improving financial control capacity at the village level and to minimize the occurrence of errors in the preparation of financial statements. BUMDes as an economic entity managed with the help of village communities, plays an important role in local financial development. However, there is often a lack of knowledge and skills in terms of economic management and accounting. The research method uses a Service Learning approach. This service uses service learning because this service is collaborative between students and the community or BUMDes so that social change can be realized. This service activity has an impact on the BUMDes Bunga Bangsa management by giving a positive impression so that the Community Accounting Service runs smoothly and the BUMDes Bunga Bangsa management has understood the basic concepts and can increase their knowledge and skills in preparing financial reports.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to increase Dwijendra Bualu Middle School teachers' understanding of the significance and methodology of Classroom Action Research (CAR). The place for this activity was at Dwijendra Bualui Middle School, located in Nusa Dua, Bali. The participants in this activity were 12 Dwijendra Bualu Middle School teachers. The time for implementing this PKM activity is in the Even Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The implementation methods can be seen in the Significance of PTK Workshop and the Methodology of PTK Workshop. The stages of implementing this community service activity include: the planning stage, the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. This community service method includes CAR significance workshops and CAR methodology workshops. The results obtained were a very good increase in the level of teachers' understanding of PTK through the results of the pre-test and post-test, namely by 94% Positive responses were also shown by teachers who found the material presented useful and motivated them to do CAR.

Abstract

The “Badan Pengkajian MPR RI” is responsible for examining the state system, including the authority of the MPR. For this task, they require input from experts and academics. This article describes the Community Service activities by the Expert Team from Unika Santu Paulus Ruteng together with Group III of the Badan Pengkajian MPR RI in the framework of drafting an academic paper on the regulation of the implementation of the authority of the MPR RI. Through a focused group discussion (FGD) held in Labuan Bajo on July 11, 2023, the Experts/Academics provided their thoughts to the leaders and Members of the Badan Pengkajian MPR RI, the Secretariat General of the MPR and the Technical Committee, regarding the MPR as a crucial and strategic state institution in maintaining and monitoring the governance of all state institutions based on the pillars of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. To support the role of the MPR RI, a new law is needed that regulates and explains the authority of the MPR in establishing the constitution as a constitutional basis for the state and also the authority of the MPR in establishing the GBHN as an operational basis for the nation and state. The law also stipulates the authority of the MPR in providing authentic and authoritative interpretations of the text of the law.

Abstract

The habit of reading should be introduced to children at an early age for them to continue reading throughout their lives. A well-planned and facilitated program for habituating readers is therefore necessary. This Community Service activities aim to provide assistance for the development of the Class Reading Corner Program at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah 01 Pekanbaru. Following a review of the school's problems regarding the lack of reading corners, a limited number of children's reading books, and the lack of governance of class reading corners, these activities were carried out based on the results of an analysis of these problems. As part of this program, 48 sets of children's picture books were handed over, including mini bookshelves. The program also socialized development of reading corner program and made a simulation of making picture books involving 14 teachers, 1 administrative staff, and 1 headmaster. This program employed a direct observation and questionnaire for the evaluation. The observation showed that three classroom reading corners are present and in use at the school. A satisfaction level of 89.6% was obtained from activity participants after analyzing the questionnaire, an increase of 29.20% over that obtained prior to socialization and simulation. Furthermore, 93.75 % of the participants wanted a reading corner and 100% indicated that there was a need to enhance or improve its quality. The results from these studies suggest that this mentoring program has achieved a positive effect by raising awareness of the importance of increased reading proficiency in schools.

Abstract

Being a competent teacher is a big responsibility for all teachers at every level of education. Competent teacher can be realized by being adept at utilizing or using learning media that can support the achievement of learning objectives. In learning math, one of the media that can be used is geogebra Software. Geogebra Software is very interesting because it can help teachers visualize abstract concepts, especially in material related to Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry. However, teachers at the secondary school level in West Cibal District have not yet recognized and used geogebra in learning. Therefore, the Community Service Team (PkM) conducted training on the utilization of geogebra Software applications in mathematics learning. This community service is expected to develop teacher competence, especially in integrating media in teaching mathematics in the classroom. This activity was facilitated by lecturers of the Mathematics Education Study Program of Unika Santu Paulus Ruteng. This activity was carried out at SMAN 1 Pagal for 2 weeks in March 2023. This community service activity was carried out in four stages, namely, planning, implementation, observation and evaluation, and reflection. Knowing the importance of this activity, the teacher gave input, namely that this training activity should be carried out regularly so that mathematics teachers can also become familiar with other mathematics Software applications. Therefore, it is hoped that more teachers will be involved in the next training activities carried out by the community service team.
