Abstract

Indonesia and Asian countries use kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix DC) as a natural fragrance ingredient in various food and beverage products. In addition to flavoring food, kaffir lime by the community have long been known as traditional medicine. Cytronel is a chemical compound that has kaffir lime which is 81.49%. In addition to citronelal it was reported that linalool, cytronelyl-acetate, citronellol and geraniol were identified in kaffir lime. Although extraction of kaffir lime has not been done much, essential oils of kaffir lime are one of the potential alternatives in the food, beverage and perfume industry. The difference in yields of the treatment of drying and using ripening of fresh leaves is done to give an overview of the extraction of the best essential oils from kaffir lime leaves. The difference in the treatment of simplicia carried out before distillation showed better yields, namely the ripening treatment with yield of ± 0.80179%.

Abstract

ISPA is an acute respiratory disease with a variety of symptoms such as cough, runny nose, fever and breath sounds which last for 14 days. ISPA death in infants and toddlers is 20% -30% caused by ISPA. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the physical condition of the house and human factors with the incidence of ISPA in infants in the Work Area of the Garuda Public Health Center, Tangkerang Tengah Village, Pekanbaru in 2019. The method of this research is quantitative with Cross Sectional research design. The population in the study were all mothers who have toddlers in the Working Area of the Puskesmas Garuda Kelurahan Tangkerang Tengah Pekanbaru. The research sample was 100 respondents with the Stratified Random Sampling sampling technique. The analysis used was univariate and bivariate with the chi square test, the measuring instruments used were questionnaires, observation sheets, lighting gauges, tape meters and data processing using computers. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between ventilation value = 0.006 (alpha <0.05), occupancy density value of 0.001 (alpha <0.05), lighting value 0.029(alpha<0.05), smoking habit value 0.002 (alpha < 0.05), the temperature of Pvalue is 0.226 (alpha<0.05), maternal knowledge is 0.024 (alpha <0.05) with the incidence of ISPA. It is suggested that the health center can work with the community to conduct counseling about healthy homes and about ISPA so that it can increase the knowledge of the community, especially mothers who have toddlers

Abstract

Essential oils are fragrance agents in plants. Essential oils have a volatile component in some plants with certain characteristics. At present, essential oils have been used as perfume, cosmetics, food additives and medicine. Empiric ethnopharmacology studies on aromatherapy plants show that Indonesia has 49 types of aromatic plants from 22 types of tribes, 12 of which are empirically used as aromatherapy with calming and refreshing effects (Sangat 1996 in Rahmawati, 2010). One example of aromatherapy used is the ginger rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrihza Roxb) and Lavender Flower (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.). This study aims to isolate and identify the essential oils of Temulawak rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrihza Roxb) and Lavender Flowers (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.). The essential oil isolation step uses the Steam Water Distillation method, after which the essential oil obtained is identified to ensure its purity. The results showed that Temulawak essential oil and Lavender essential oil were carried out using the water distillation method, obtained levels of 2.3% and 1.8%. Essential oils in Temulawak were identified by testing their physical properties which include specific gravity, solubility in ethanol 90%, solubility in chloroform and oil in NaCl. The identification results obtained in the Temulawak rhizome and Lavender plants are specific gravity 0.9436 and 0.8221. Solubility in ethanol 90% with a volume ratio of 1: 3.7 mL and 1: 3.3 mL. solubility in chloroform of 1: 3.3 mL and 1: 3.3 mL. on the addition of NaCl in the oil oil reduction occurs.

Abstract

Diabetic neuropathy is the most common complication in DM patients and can worsen the patient’s quality of life. Various studies produce different information about risk factors that cause diabetic neuropathy. This study aims to determine the dominant factors affecting the incidence of diabetic neuropathy between age, duration of diabetes, sex, HbA1c level and BMI. Rspondents were outpatient DM type 2 in Cilacap Pertamina Hospital. The number of samples 95 people taken with total sampling techniques. The incidence of diabetic neuropathy was measured using DNE scoring. Bivariate analysis used correlation test and t-test independent. Whereas multivariate analysis used multiple linear regression test. The results showed that HbA1c levels were the dominant factor influencing neuropathy diabetic (pv = 0,0005). The regression equation obtained is diabetic neuropathy = -10,8 + 0,09 age + 0,88 HbA1c level. The interpretation is diabetic neuropathy increases 0,1 times after controlling for variable HbA1c levels at each 1 year age increase. The incidence of neuropathy diabetic will be 0,8 fold higher in type 2 DM patients who experience an increase in HbA1c levels.
