Abstract

Rural communities tend to be more hesitant to accept and adopt information. This behaviour affects the knowledge they have, especially knowledge related to JKN. This study aims to determine the relationship between information exposure and JKN knowledge in the Sungai Lebung Village community. This quantitative study a cross-sectional design and purposive sampling technique for a total sample size of 108 respondents. The multiple logistic regression of risk factors was the statistical analysis used in this study. The univariate test results showed that 60 respondents (55.6%) had low JKN knowledge. Multivariate analysis showed that exposure to JKN information was associated with JKN knowledge after being controlled by confounding variables such as gender, education, occupation, and health worker support. People exposed to JKN information sourced by BPJSK have a 3.5 times chance of having high knowledge related to JKN. It can be concluded that socialization concerning JKN using information media sourced by BPJSK needs to be improved by considering gender, education, employment and health worker support.

Abstract

Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix) is a horticultural plant that is widely used as a natural flavor in various food and beverage products. The content in lime leaves is useful for health, including flavonoids, minerals, vitamin C, limonoids, and carotenoids. Bacillus cereus causes a diarrheal disease that attacks the intestines. This study aims to determine the kaffir lime leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of Bacillus cereus bacteria using the Time-Kill Test method. This study used the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Time-Kill Test methods. The MIC results in kaffir lime leaf extract that can inhibit bacteria at 2 mg/mL, while the Time-Kill Test shows a death phase at 24 hours. Kaffir lime leaf extract has a bacteriostatic effect at 0, 4, 8, and 24 hours, while amoxicillin and the combination of amoxicillin and extract have a bacteriostatic effect at 4, 8, and 24 hours. Based on the results of the One Way ANOVA test with a 95% confidence level (p <0,05) showed a significant effect of kaffir lime leaf extract on the growth of Bacillus cereus.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, computer vision syndrome (CVS) caused by the implementation of online learning was an inevitable effect. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of using the Eye Care and Eye Pro Protect Your Vision applications as a step to treat and prevent the severity of CVS. A total of 16 students who participated in virtual classroom learning (81.20% female, 87.50% laptop users with heavy duration, 93.70% experienced CVS) were included. The most frequent symptom in CVS subjects was eye pain (96.5%), while the most intense symptom was a feeling of double vision (15.9%). The use of applications can significantly reduced the duration of laptop use (p=0.025) using the Mc Nemar test. The Eye Care application reduced symptoms by 75%, while the Eye Pro was 62.5%. The Eye Care application can provide a decrease in the duration of screen time and provide rest time for better eyes. Recommendations for preventing CVS based on causal factors can be adjusted to reduce the burden of online study, increase rest time and use screen time reminder applications.

Abstract

People of all ages are using mobile devices more frequently, and more children are reportedly using digital media as well, which raises the risk of Digital Eye Strain (DES). There have been few studies on how often DES affects children particularly post-pandemic. The purpose of this study is to review published literature concerning DES, including its pathogenesis and therapy options. A literature search was performed based on PubMed, EMBASE and Scopus databases published from 2003 to 2023 using the broad search term “digital eye strain”, “ocular asthenopia secondary to digital gadgets”, “computer vision syndrome”, “eye strain post-computer or mobile use”, “visual weariness”, and “children" in all fields. Of the 163 articles retrieved, 107 were retained for inclusion in this review. The result reveals that there is an urgent need to inform parents, caregivers, and youth about setting screen time limits and applying ergonomic practices due to the recent surge in digital electronic gadget usage among kids and young adults.

Abstract

At the beginning of the pandemic, the policy focused on COVID-19 prevention and control. Health facilities faced disruption temporarily regarding contraceptive services. This study analysed the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak on Family Planning services in Indonesia. Monthly routine statistics from the National Population and Family Planning Board contraceptive service were examined to determine the trends in contraceptive services in Indonesia before and during the COVID-19 Pandemic from January to December 2020. The study was secondary data analysis by utilizing monthly report data from all provinces in Indonesia. Comparison data would account for the monthly trends before and during the pandemic. There was a decrease in contraceptive services between March and April 2020. However, the trend started to increase in June when a one million acceptors campaign was conducted to provide free family planning services in 34 provinces. Injectable (54%) and pills (39%) remain the most favorable contraceptives during the pandemic. IUDs and implants peaked in June 2020 (288,503 users) and September 2020 (214,061 users). The massive campaign of contraceptive services has had a positive impact in increasing the contraceptive users. Contraceptive services are conducted following strict health protocols. Continuation of contraceptive use among reproductive couples still needs to be increased.

Abstract

Interprofessional education (IPE) in communities is often underrepresented in IPE initiatives, while, in practice, the need for collaboration is high enough. Interprofessional collaborative practice is challenging, especially for public health workers because some health professional education is unprofessional. Therefore, this brief review aims to comprehensively discuss the opportunities and challenges of public health students to perform interprofessional education. Study Review and data collection had been carried out within 2015-2020. Based on our review, IPE has a positive impact on students. Many students showed positive attitudes after participating in the Interprofessional Education session. Additionally, IPE is applicable for identifying benefits, challenges, and areas for modification when implementing and developing competencies. Managing interprofessional work team training is a major challenge. The approach to overcome these challenges can be realized by public health students by applying the basic skills and soft skills of public health workers, including a graphical model of public health. The model has four main tools, and particularly in the behavioral and social sciences, and health administration and policy will be a force to overcome the barriers to implementing IPE in the community. The results of the evaluation provide insight into the experiences of students, staff, facilitators, and their self-perception of competency development. Public health students perceive positively and believe that IPE can improve communication skills, collaboration, self-efficacy, readiness for interprofessional learning, and appreciation of professional roles. However, there is still a need for training modifications and expanding student roles that can improve understanding of primary health concepts and appreciation of interprofessional collaboration. This will increase students' potential to become effective healthcare providers.

Abstract

One of the critical periods associated with maternal mortality risk is the postpartum period. Hence, it is imperative to prioritize postnatal care as a means to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 30% of mothers face mortality risks during the puerperium. Unfortunately, many postpartum mothers are unaware of potential issues during this period, leading to delayed self-examinations with healthcare professionals. This lack of awareness stems from insufficient knowledge regarding the danger signs that may arise during the postpartum period. Previous study revealed that a significant number of mothers lack awareness about these danger signs during the puerperium. To enhance the knowledge of postpartum mothers, one effective approach is to provide education. This study aimed to investigate the impact of educational interventions on postpartum mothers' knowledge of danger signs during the postpartum period. The research employed a Quasi-Experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 postpartum mothers, and all participants completed the entire study. Data collection involved administering a questionnaire both before and after the educational intervention. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for data analysis, and the Wilcoxon test was utilized with a significance level set at α < 0.05. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000 (α < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of education on increasing postpartum mothers' knowledge of danger signs during the puerperal period.
