Abstract

Multiple Intelligences (MI) is a theory about intelligence that was triggered by Dr. Howard Gardner, a figure in education and psychology. a person's intelligence suddenly is not measured by the results of a standard psychological test, but can be seen from a person's habits on two things. First, someone's habits solve their own problems (problem solving). Second, a person's habits create new products that have cultural values (creativity). MI-based learning is a learning process in which when the teacher wants to teach a learning material, the teacher teaches according to the tendency of students' learning styles, because in a classroom there are several students who each have different MIs. The intelligence consists of nine levels of intelligence and is known as the Multiple Intelligences (MI) which includes: 1) linguistic intelligence, 2) mathematical-logical intelligence, 3) visual spatial intelligence, 4) physical-kinesthetic intelligence, 5) musical intelligence, 6 ) interpersonal intelligence, 7) intrapersonal intelligence, 8) naturalist intelligence, and 9) existential. Many benefits can be obtained by knowing the level of MI of students, both for schools, teachers, and students themselves. MI for students is also influenced by several factors, including; innate factors; environmental factor; and maturity factors, this maturity factor related with people age.

Abstract

This research is an experimental research which aims to see the effect of make a match learning model on students' knowledge competency in circulatory system material at SMPN 3 Payakumbuh academic year 2018/2019. The implementation of the study did not allow the researcher to control variabel as a whole so that this study belongs to the quasi experiment category with a randomized control group posttest only design. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques using statistical tests namely t test. The results of the statistical test show that in a significant term (α = 0.05) obtained the value of tcount> t table, which is 3.32> 1.67 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that the knowledge competency of students by using the make a match learning model is higher than the knowledge competency of students who use conventional learning. It can be interpreted that there is the influence of the make a match learning model on students' knowledge competencies in circulatory system material at SMPN 3 Payakumbuh.

Abstract

ABSTRACT High order thinking skills is very important based 2013 Curriculum in Indonesia. High order thinking skills need to be developed so that learners not only receive the information provided, but can use it and convert it into new information to solve the problems they face. The type of research used is descriptive research, by collecting data in the form of assessment instruments used by teachers in assessing the learning process. The assessment instruments on fungi material made by teachers for daily tests are generally still at the C1-C3 cognitive level (C1 is 40%, C2 is 46,7% and C3 is 13,3%), whereas high order thinking skills can be trained by providing an assessment instrument that is at the C4-C6 level of cognition in learning. Researchers analyze students by processing student's value data when answering C1-C3 problem commonly used by biology teacher in school and the result of the average score of learners did not experience problems, but the result of the analysis of learners with the provision of high ability thinking ability showed not yet capable of students answer about high-order thinking skills. This is evidenced by the test results obtained in the form of the average value of the class that is 28.15. Therefore, the assessment instrument used by the teacher has not been able to measure the high order thinking ability of the learners.

Abstract

Learning styles are a combination of absorbing, regulating, and processing learning by students. There are three types of learning styles namely visual learning styles, auditory and kinesthetic. Based on the results of observations that the authors did at senior high school 7 Padang, it was revealed that the teacher still did not practice the relationship between the learning styles of students in their learning. This can lead to the learning styles are not synchronized with learning models, methods and media applied by teachers so that students' cognitive competency become low. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between learning styles and cognitive competency of students. This research is a descriptive research. This study uses a correlation study approach, namely the independent variable in the form of student learning styles and the dependent variable in the form of cognitive competency of students. To find out the relationship between variables stated with correlation coefficients used the Spearman-Rank correlation formula.Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the relationship between learning styles and cognitive competency of students does not mean and the correlation value is in the category of very weak to moderate. In the visual learning style for the second daily test there is a significant relationship and the correlation value is 0.75 with a strong correlation category. The conclusion of this study is that there is no significant relationship between learning styles and learners' cognitive competency.
