Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the types of errors and the causal factors that were made by students in solving question on matrix based on the Newman procedure. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data was collected by using tests and interviews. The subject of this research is students of class XI IPA 1 at SMA N 1 Tondano. Among these students,  6 (six) students were taken as interview subjects. The result of this study is the percentage of students’ errors in solving matrix problem which consist: reading error 0.67%, comprehension error 1.33%, transformation error 24%, process skill error and encoding error 37.33%. The factors that cause errors made by students are students: (1) not careful in reading questions and in carrying out matrix addition operation; (2) rushing in solving problems; (3) not understanding the terms of matrix multiplication; (4) not knowing the formula that must be used to solve problem; (5) not making steps to solve problem in detail; (6) incomplete notes; and (7) not learning

Abstract

This article discusses the Analysis of Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability in SPLTV material. So get an overview to understand the problem, develop a problem-solving plan, solve the problem, and conduct a review in the given problem-solving process. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The subjects taken were 6 students of class XII SMK in a school in Karawang Regency. The instrument consists of solving the problem of function material which was adopted from the teaching materials of the 2017 revised edition of the curriculum compulsory textbook. The data analysis technique used consists of 3 stages, namely analyzing the results of students' answers, presenting the results of data analysis, and making conclusions from the results of data analysis of students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The result of this article is to provide an overview of solving SPLTV material which is carried out related to everyday problems related to mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of the Scramble type cooperative learning model on theability to understand mathematical concepts of seventh grade students at MTs Al Ichsan Nanggulan. This research wasconducted at MTs Al Ichsan Nanggulan in the 2021/2022 academic year. This type of research is a quasi-experimentalresearch with Posttest Only Control Design. In this study the sampling technique used is simple random sampling. Fromthe four population classes, two sample classes were taken, namely class VII C as the experimental class and class VIID as the control class. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets and tests. Technical analysis of thedata in this study is to use the normality test and homogeneity test as well as hypothesis testing. The results of the posttestnormality test of the experimental class obtained the value of sig. 0.152 0.05 and in the control class the sig value wasobtained. 0.200 0.05, so the post-test scores of both classes were normally distributed. The homogeneity test of theposttest value obtained the value of sig. 0.153 0.05, so the variance of the two classes is homogeneous. Furthermore,because the prerequisite test is met, a t-test is carried out. The results of the first hypothesis test were obtained, namely16.26 2.04523, which means that the Scramble-type cooperative learning model is effective on the ability to understandmathematical concepts of seventh grade students at Mts Al Ichsan Nanggulan. The results of the second hypothesis testwere obtained, namely 4.59 2.04523, which means that the conventional learning model is effective on the ability tounderstand mathematical concepts of seventh grade students at Mts Al Ichsan Nanggulan. The results of the thirdhypothesis test are obtained, namely 7.901 2.001, which means that the Scramble type cooperative learning model ismore effective than the conventional learning model on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of seventh gradestudents at Mts Al Ichsan Nanggulan..Keywords: math learning;Scramble learning model;understanding of mathematical concepts

Abstract

Representation has various forms in conveying ideas, such as symbols, verbal, graphs, and  tables.  In  changing  from  the  source  representation  to  the  requested  target representation,  students  must  have  representational  translation  skills,  especially  in algebra. Representational translation ability is important for students because it can prevent misunderstanding in solving math problems and help understanding algebra material.  This  study  aims  to  describe  the  representational  translation  ability  of students with different levels of mathematical ability in the algebra material of class VIII MTs PSM Tanen. The results showed that students with high mathematical ability were able to fulfill most of the indicators for representational translation from verbal form to symbolic form (V-S), but not fully on the translation from symbolic to verbal form (S-V). Students with moderate mathematical ability can fulfill most of the V-S indicators,  but  have  limitations  in  S-V.  Meanwhile,  students  with  low  mathematics ability were not able to fulfill the V-S or S-V indicators. In conclusion, representational translation ability varies between students with high, medium, and low mathematics ability.  Students  need  to  be  helped  to  improve  this  translational  ability  in  order  to understand and solve math problems better, especially in algebra material.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mendeskripsikan kreativitas siswa dengan self efficacy tinggi dalam memecahkan masalah pada materi SPLDV kelas VIII di MTsN 2 Kota Blitar, (2) untuk mendeskripsikan kreativitas siswa dengan self efficacy rendah dalam memecahkan masalah pada materi SPLDV kelas VIII di MTsN 2 Kota Blitar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Lokasi penelitian adalah MTsN 2 Kota Blitar. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 2 siswa dengan self efficacy tinggi, dan 2 siswa dengan self efficacy rendah. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, tes, angket, dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pengecekan keabsahan data menggunakan ketekunan pengamatan, triangulasi, dan diskusi dengan teman sejawat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, 1) kreativitas siswa dengan self efficacy tinggi dalam memecahkan masalah materi SPLDV mampu mencapai kreativitas tingkat 3 (kreatif) dengan indikator yang dipenuhi yaitu kefasihan dan fleksibilitas, atau kefasihan dan kebaruan, (2) kreativitas siswa dengan self efficacy rendah dalam memecahkan masalah materi SPLDV terdapat variasi yaitu terdapat siswa yang mampu mencapai kreativitas tingkat 1 (kurang kreatif) dengan indikator yang dipenuhi adalah kefasihan dan terdapat siswa yang mencapai kreativitas tingkat 0 (tidak kreatif) dimana tidak ada indikator yang terpenuhi.Kata Kunci: Kreativitas; Memecahkan Masalah; SPLDV; Self efficacy

Abstract

This study is motivated by the very low students' mathematical creative thinking ability in class VIII Junior High School 13 Magelang. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the Think Pair Share and Student Team Achievement Division learning models on students' mathematical creative thinking ability in terms of adversity quotient. This study used quantitative research with a posttest-only control design research design. There were two classes as samples in this study, namely the experimental class of 25 students and the control class of 26 students. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling technique. The research instruments used in this study consisted of interview guidelines, observation sheets, tests of mathematical creative thinking skills, and adversity quotient questionnaires. The data analysis technique used was a two-way anava test with unequal cells and a Scheffe follow-up test. Before the two-way anava test was carried out, a prerequisite test was first carried out, namely the normality test using the Liliefors test and the homogeneity test using the Bartlett test. The results of the hypothesis test in this study found that (1) the mathematical creative thinking ability of students who obtained the think pair share learning model was better than students who obtained the student team achievement division learning model; (2) there is no difference between students' mathematical creative thinking ability and climber, camper,  and quitter type adversity quotient; and (3) there is no interaction between the learning model and adversity quotient on students' mathematical creative thinking ability.  Therefore, the Think Pair Share learning model can be an alternative learning to improve students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan profil kecemasan matematis ditinjau dari gender. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bersifat kualitatif. Tempat penelitian ini yaitu SMP Negeri 3 Salawu. Subjek penelitan ini adalah siswa kelas 7, 8, dan 9 SMP Negeri 3 Salawu yang terpilih melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner kecemasan matematis, kuesioner terbuka, dan wawancara. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah penyajian data, reduksi data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan secara umum kecemasan matematika mahasiswa teridentifikasi pada kategori cenderung tidak merasa cemas. Terdapat 47 siswa memiliki kategori cenderung merasa cemas dengan persentase sebesar 35%  dan 86 siswa memiliki kategori cenderung tidak merasa cemas dengan persentase sebesar 65%. Kecemasan matematis siswa teridentifikasi pada level paling tinggi pada indikator cognitive, sedangkan pada indikator mathematics knowledge teridentifikasi pada level paling rendah. Lebih lanjut, profil kecemasan matematis kelas 7 pada siswa laki-laki maupun siswa perempuan yaitu cenderung tidak merasa cemas terhadap matematika. Profil kecemasan matematis kelas 8 pada siswa laki-laki maupun siswa perempuan yaitu cenderung merasa cemas terhadap matematika. Profil kecemasan matematis kelas 9 pada siswa laki-laki yaitu cenderung merasa cemas terhadap matematika sedangkan siswa perempuan cenderung tidak merasa cemas terhadap matematika.

Abstract

The traditional house of the Baduy Tribe is one of the cultural heritages located in Lebak Regency, Banten. The purpose of this study is to find out the material in mathematics learning that is relevant to the mathematical aspects of the Baduy traditional house. This research method is descriptive qualitative with an ethnographic approach and the data sources are obtained from observations, documentation and interviews related to the traditional house of the Baduy tribe in the province of Banten. In this study using triangulation techniques to test the credibility of the data. The results showed that: 1) The symbolic meaning contained in the traditional house of the Baduy tribe as a repellent for reinforcements or the safety of the Baduy community and believing that the symbol would bring abundant sustenance, 2) The mathematical concepts in the traditional house of the Baduy tribe include: a. Flat shapes are squares, rectangles, rhombuses, and triangles. b. Build spaces, namely: cubes, blocks, and triangular prisms.

Abstract

Etnomatematika adalah istilah untuk matematika yang berhubungan dengan kebudayaan. Masjid Su’ada adalah salah satu lokasi bersejarah di Hulu Sungai Selatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi etnomatematika di Masjid Su'ada Hulu Sungai Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pespektif etnografi sebagai metodologinya. Peneliti mengumpulkan informasi melalui data kepustakaan yang diperoleh dari studi literatur atau penelitian sebelumnya yang sebanding, dan mengumpulkan data lapangan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Menurut  hasil eksplorasi di masjid menunjukkan bahwa terdapat konsep matematika yaitu bangun datar (persegi, trapesium, persegi panjang, segi enam dan segitiga), bangun datar sisi lengkung (setengah lingkaran) dan bangun ruang (balok dan prisma segi enam).

Abstract

This research aims to describe students' mathematical representation abilities in terms of mathematical resilience. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. Data collection techniques consisted of distributing mathematical resilience questionnaires, mathematical representation ability tests, and interviews. The subjects were selected from 3 students in class VII-G of SMPN 17 Tasikmalaya based on the results of a questionnaire that met one of the categories of high, medium, low and the results of the mathematical representation ability test that met the most indicators of mathematical representation ability without looking at whether the answer was right or wrong. . The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Subjects with high mathematical resilience (S-27) can fulfill six indicators of mathematical representation ability with systematic, detailed answers and correct conclusions. Subjects with moderate mathematical resilience (S-13) can fulfill five indicators of mathematical representation ability but there are errors in calculating and writing units. Subjects with low mathematical resilience (S-16) can meet four indicators of mathematical representation ability with incorrect final answers and errors in understanding algebraic addition.Keywords: Mathematical Representation Ability, Mathematical Resilience.
