Abstract

In this time, advances in technology and science are becoming increasingly dominant in changing character or actions and public trust. The impact of many problems that occur between children and adolescents is violence and acts of anarchy, theft, no matter the rules, fighting between students, disrespect, ways of using language and speaking poorly, low morale, lack of respect for parents and teachers, low sense of individual and citizen responsibility, and lack of compassion and respect among friends (Lickona, 2016: 20). Such conditions that make educational institutions raise the question of the extent to which he manages character education in students (Novitri, 2013). This research is an interactive type of qualitative method. The main data source in this study was obtained by snowball sampling. Data collection techniques in this study used three techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Politeknik Pelayaran Surabaya is a university that has a strong commitment to organizing character education programs. The conclusion of this study states that the management of character education in Politeknik Pelayaran Surabaya has been done well and effectively.

Abstract

Performance Appraisal is an effort to identify, measure (assess) and manage (management) to determine decisions about success or failure in carrying out work carried out by workers with work standards set by the company. Compensation for organizations / companies means rewards / rewards to workers who have contributed in realizing their goals, through activities called work. Total productivity is nothing but the ratio of what is produced (out put) to all what is used (in put) to obtain these results. FKIP-UISU Medan is part of one of the faculties at the Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan and its address at Jalan Puri Number 18 Simpang Jalan Alloy Tenaga Medan. The problem formulation is "How big is the effect of performance appraisal and compensation on the productivity of lecturers and staff at the Teaching and Education Faculty of the Islamic University of North Sumatra".The purpose of this study was to determine the FKIP-UISU lecturer and staff assessment of performance appraisals, compensation provided, level of productivity. The results of the study using the formula of multiple correlation between variables x1 (performance appraisal) and x 2 (compensation) together with variable y (productivity of lecturers and staff) that is 0.826 which means it has a positive relationship because r count is greater than rtable (0.826> 0.361 ).  Based on the table, it is known that = 0.826 is at the coefficient interval 0.80 - 1,000, then the relationship of variable x1 (performance appraisal) with variable x2 (compensation) which is jointly correlated with variable y (lecturer and employee productivity) is included in the category very strong relationship. Based on the calculation of the value of Fcount = 28.890 this value is then consulted with Ftable with an error rate of 5% based on the numerator dk = k (2) and the denominator dk = n-k-1 (27), then Ftable = 3.35 is obtained. These results indicate that Fcount is greater than Ftable, 28.890> 3.35. Because the price of Fcount is far greater than the price of Fable, the proposed Zero Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. According to the results of these calculations it can be concluded that the productivity of lecturers and staff at the Teaching and Education Faculty of the Islamic University of North Sumatra, Medan is influenced by performance evaluation and compensation variables of 68.15%, while 31.85% is influenced by other variables.

Abstract

It is undeniable that the development of technology in the present impacts on various aspects, especially in the field of learning technology. In learning, lecturers are required to implement innovations in the field of technology. One of the implementations of education technology is the implementation of evaluation by using Kahoot. Kahoot is a game-based learning platform. By implementing this learning evaluation, we expect students' achievement and motivation in learning to improve. The research method of this research is simple qualitative descriptive using a questionnaire that were distributed to the first semester Informatics Engineering students as the object of this research. From the questionnaire the results showed that 82.2% of students stated that Kahoot was able to increase their learning motivation. Other results is the increasing  of students scores in this evaluations and the obstacle found in implementing this evaluation is the umstable connections or internet networks.

Abstract

Utilization of entomopathogenic fungi as biological control agents is one way to avoid the negative impact of chemicals on the environment. Entomopathogenic fungi that have been widely used for biological pest control are Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae, Aspergillus sp., Nomuraea rileyi. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of fungi entomopathogenic in the Brassica chinensis vegetable farm, to find out the entomopathogenic characteristics of fungi obtained from each Brassica chinensis planting soil sample, to know the highest entomopathogenic fungi obtained from the exploration of entomopathogenic fungi and to study the results of biology student learning semester VI in microbiology courses. To obtain the entomopathogenic fungi, an exploration technique was carried out using the insect bait Tenebrio molitor placed in the rhizosphere of the Brassica chinensis plant. The preparation in this study involved taking samples from 5 villages in Berastagi, namely Barus Julu, Persadanta, Rumah Rih, Paribun, and Suka Julu by determining 5 diagonal soil sample points. The results of fungi entomopathogenic exploration from 5 villages in Berastagi, there are 3 genus of entomopathogenic fungi in Brassica chinensis rhizosphere, Metarhizium, Beauveria and Aspergillus. The highest fungi entomopathogenic diversity was obtained by Beauveria fungi with a diversity index of 0.3628 while the lowest diversity was obtained by Aspergillus with a diversity index of 0.0343 overall. The results of learning to students indicate that, the ability of students at the time of the pre-test obtained an average value of 59.26 with a standard deviation of 12.8 while at the post-test students obtained an average value of 73.68 with a standard deviation of 8.3 Based on the acquisition of grades on average there is an increase in student learning outcomes in entomopathogenic fungi submateri.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using stereoscopic 3D image on learning effectiveness This research was conducted through a quasi-experiment in primary schools by using control class and experimental class. This research was joined by 52 participants (26 students in control class and 26 students in experimental class). The research conclusions indicate that, 1) stereoscopic 3D images can be used through integration into textbooks as illustrations increasing the primary school students perception about classroom activities (i.e., motivation, interest, challenge and excitement). and 2) textbooks integrated with stereoscopic 3D images are proven effective in improving the students' concept mastery, as seen from the independent sample t-test by using SPSS resulting in a probability (p) value of 0.000 with a significance level of 0.05 so that p < 0, 05.

Abstract

Research highlights the influence of service quality, institutional reputation, student satisfaction in building student loyalty. Quantitative approach was used with a survey method. The research respondents were 185 students from PGRI University Palembang. Analysis techniques using variance-based structural equation models (SEM) SmartPLS. The results of the study shows that service quality has a significant effect on reputation and student satisfaction, but service quality and student satisfaction have no significant effect on student loyalty. On the contrary, the reputation of an institution has a very significant direct effect on loyalty. Student service quality has a significant indirect effect on student loyalty through the reputation of the institution, this implies that the reputation of the institution carries a relative influence relationship between service quality on student loyalty. These findings can help higher education institutions to make better strategic plans to increase student loyalty.
