Abstract

Learning activities during the Covid-19 pandemic are a new challenge for teachers in schools. especially special companion teachers or GPK in inclusive primary schools. GPKs still have to provide maximum service related to the learning process carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to obtain information related to the implementation of learning for students with special needs (PDBK) in inclusive schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach to the type of case study. The subjects studied were three GPKs in the Kreativa Inclusive Elementary School, Bogor City. Data collection was obtained through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews conducted online. Data analysis was carried out in a descriptive qualitative manner with the help of nvivo 12 plus. The results showed that the PDBK learning during the Covid-19 pandemic was as follows; (1) the GPK has prepared learning tools, especially individual learning programs, (2) offline learning in classrooms and center rooms focus on developing PDBK life skills, (3) learn the content is the same as before the pandemic, (4) online learning is carried out through the zoom application and WhatsApp, and (5) the process of assessing learning outcomes using google forms and worksheets related to PDBK learning activities. The learning challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic faced by GPK, namely; decreased learning outcomes of PDBK, problems with GDPK tantrums during online learning, and communication problems to provide an understanding of learning.

Abstract

Expository Text Structure strategy addresses the informational structure of the text that provides students with a feasible way to analyze through a visual representation of the text which creates an understanding of the basic part of the expository text. This study was carried out through a quasi-experimental design or two group pre-test post-test designs to determine the effectiveness of the Expository Text Structure strategy on the reading comprehension of the students. The researchers developed a reading comprehension test to gather data and were analyzed using percentage rate, frequency count, percentage mean, and t-test for independent samples. Results revealed an increase in the result of the experimental group than the control group after the application of the intervention. Therefore, there was a difference in the reading comprehension level of the pupils in both groups. The change between pre-test and post-test scores of both groups was significantly different. Hence, the study concluded that the Expository Text Structure strategy was significantly effective in enhancing the reading comprehension skills of the students. This offers pedagogical implications such that the Expository Text strategy can be applied to increase the comprehension of the students.

Abstract

This research is caused by online learning conducted by public elementary school in suburban areas. Online learning is carried out because the “Covid-19” virus outbreak has become a disaster in the world of education. Online learning requires several facilities such as an internet signal and a smartphone. This facility becomes a problem if an area experiences internet problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study of phenomenology. The subjects in this study were teachers, parents, and fourth grade students. Data collection used is interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis used was data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of online learning in grade IV public elementary school in suburban areas during the “Covid-19” pandemic was shown based on input, process, and output indicators. This can be seen from the input indicator, namely the application of teacher characteristics, namely motivation, fostering enthusiasm, and mastering technology, communication. The learning facilities used by students include cellphones/smartphones, internet networks, and the cost of buying internet data packages. Process indicators are related to the allocation of teacher time, namely managing time effectively. The application of time allocation for students is to take advantage of time tolerance in completing tasks. The output indicator is related to student learning outcomes. The application of changes in student attitudes is to be more motivating, disciplining, and timely in submitting assignments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the learning model Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning in terms of the critical thinking skills of grade V elementary school students. This type of research is a meta analyst. The data analysis technique used is the Effect size analysis technique. The effect size formula is the effect formula with the eta squared (ή2) formula. The instrument used in this study was a coding sheet. The variables used to obtain coding information on the effect size of the meta-analysis study. The results showed that the Discovery Learning learning model was more effective than the Problem Based Learning learning model for improving students' critical thinking skills. Ancova test results show f count> f table of 0.009 and F count obtained is 6.12, namely 6.12> 0.65 and a significance of 0.001 <0.05 which indicates that there is an effectiveness of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning learning models in improving critical thinking skills of class students V SD.
