Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan menulis teks puisi sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media Magic Write dan media Animasi Powtoon. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan rancangan pra eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah One Group Pretest-Postest Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas X SMA Negeri 14 Gowa yang berjumlah 324 siswa, dan sampel yang terpilih adalah siswa Kelas X.1 dan Kelas X.2 yang jumlahnya masing-masing 36 orang siswa. Data dari penelitian ini berupa nilai perolehan siswa dari hasil pretest dan postest. Teknik pengumpulan dilakukan melalui observasi awal, pretest, perlakuan dan postest. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam menganalisis data yaitu analisis statistic deskriptif. Hasil analisis data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan menulis teks puisi siswa kelas X.1 sebelum diberi perlakuan berupa penggunaan media Magic Write dalam proses pembelajaran berkategori tidak terampil dengan nilai rata-rata hasil pretest sebesar 53,44. Keterampilan menulis teks puisi siswa Kelas X.2 sebelum diberi perlakuan berupa penggunaan media Animasi Powtoon dalam proses pembelajaran berkategori tidak terampil dengan nilai rata-rata hasil pretest sebesar 55,00. Keterampilan menulis teks puisi siswa Kelas X.1 sesudah diberi perlakuan berupa penggunaan media Magic Write dalam proses pembelajaran berkategori terampil dengan nilai rata-rata hasil postest yakni sebesar 80,08. Keterampilan menulis teks puisi siswa Kelas X.2 sesudah diberi perlakuan berupa penggunaan media Animasi Powtoon dalam proses pembelajaran berkategori terampil dengan nilai rata-rata hasil postest sebesar 69,55. Setelah merumuskan data hasil Pretest dan Postest dengan menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistics 26 (International Business Machines Statistical Package for The Social Sciencess 26) uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa untuk keterampilan menulis teks puisi menggunakan media Magic Write diperoleh t hitung = 19,916 > t tabel = 1,689 sementara itu untuk keterampilan menulis teks puisi menggunakan media Animasi Powtoon diperoleh t hitung = 13,592 > t tabel = 1,689. Hal ini berarti H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Oleh karena itu, kesimpulan yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan media Magic Write dan media Animasi Powtoon berpegaruh positif secara signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis teks puisi Siswa Kelas X SMA Negeri 14 Gowa.

Abstract

Academic writing is a fundamental competency in higher education, requiring students to develop structured arguments, integrate credible sources, and maintain coherence throughout their writing. This study investigates the academic writing strategies employed by high-achieving students, focusing on five key themes: pre-writing strategies, effective use of academic sources, drafting and structuring arguments, revision and self-editing techniques, and time management. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research was conducted at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang, involving 15 fifth-semester students from the English Education Department who had successfully completed the Academic Writing course with outstanding academic performance. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in students’ writing strategies. The findings reveal that high-achieving students systematically engage in pre-writing planning, utilize effective citation and paraphrasing techniques, structure their arguments logically and coherently, revise their work through multiple drafts and peer feedback, and employ disciplined time management strategies to optimize their writing process. These results suggest that explicit instruction in academic writing strategies, integrated peer-review practices, and the use of digital writing tools can significantly enhance students' academic writing proficiency. The study provides pedagogical implications for improving academic writing instruction, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts.

Abstract

This case study investigates the impact of free writing activities on students' confidence in writing English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Conducted at SMPN 5 Anggeraja with 20 students, the study examines how the integration of free writing influences students' writing confidence, comfort with writing tasks, perceptions of their writing abilities, and reduction in writing anxiety. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews conducted after three free writing sessions, which were observed by the researcher across 16 classroom meetings. The findings revealed that free writing significantly improved students' confidence in writing, as many students felt freer to express their ideas without the pressure of grammatical accuracy. Additionally, the study found that students became more comfortable with writing tasks, with 17 out of 20 students reporting increased engagement in writing activities. Students also reported enhanced perceptions of their writing abilities, with many expressing improved fluency and organization. Furthermore, a majority of students experienced a reduction in writing anxiety, as they began to approach writing tasks with greater ease. These findings suggest that free writing is an effective method for fostering writing confidence and reducing anxiety in EFL classrooms. The study underscores the importance of providing students with opportunities for low-pressure writing activities that prioritize content and self-expression over grammatical accuracy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana Film “Tabula Rasa” menggunakan makanan sebagai simbol identitas budaya Minang. Melalui kajian gastrokritik, teori Ronald W. Tobin dengan konsep cita rasa kuliner dan identitas budaya penelitian ini akan mengungkapkan nilai-nilai budaya yang diwariskan dari generasi ke generasi dalam budaya Minang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif-deskriptif yang memungkinkan untuk menggambarkan secara detail karakteristik, situasi, dan interaksi antar tokoh dalam Film “Tabula Rasa”. Teknik analisis data observasi dipilih untuk mengamati adegan-adegan dalam film dan mencatat berbagai detail yang relevan. Hasil penelitian ditemukan (1) dominasi karakteristik rasa masakan Minang yaitu, pedas, gurih, dan asam yang merefleksikan prinsip hidup masyarakat Minang terkait keberanian, keseimbangan, dan adaptasi yang juga dikenal perantau ulung. (2) Nama makanan Minang dalam bahasa daerah menggambarkan identitas budaya Minang, sistem sosial matrilineal, serta sejarah yang dipengaruhi perdagangan. (3) Teknik memasak Minang, seperti marandang dan pemrosesan santan tradisional, merefleksikan ketekunan, kesabaran, dan transmisi nilai budaya. (4) Penyajian makanan Minang mencerminkan nilai adat, penghormatan terhadap tamu, keteraturan, dan kebersamaan, yang memperkuat identitas budaya Minang dalam konteks sosial modern. Temuan ini memberikan manfaat sebagai dasar untuk inovasi pendidikan berkarakter muatan lokal dan program pelestarian budaya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the stylistics of the story of Prophet Musa and Khiḍr in Surah Al-Kahf, verses 60–82, focusing on morphological and semantic aspects. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach and content analysis. The data was collected through documentation techniques from primary sources such as Qur'anic verses and secondary sources such as tafsīr books, dictionaries, and relevant previous studies. The study results show that the morphological aspects of this story include letter omission, the choice of indefinite words, specific word patterns and forms, and shifts in pronouns, which create profound effects and impressions such as urgency, uniqueness, sincerity, brevity, broad meaning, and politeness. Meanwhile, from a semantic aspect, using synonyms, antonyms, and polysemy highlights the precision of word choice and enhances the message's clarity. These stylistic elements contribute to the beauty and persuasive power of the Qur'an, thereby deepening its meaning. This study emphasizes the importance of stylistic analysis in understanding the beauty of language, particularly in terms of word choice.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how the forms of Israeli power hegemony psychologically impact the Palestinian people, as represented through the main character in Hani As-Salmi's novel "Mashatun." Hegemony and its impacts cause the construction of a person's identity, influenced by oneself and their social life. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The primary data source is the narration and dialogue in Hani As-Salmi's novel "Mashatun." Meanwhile, secondary data sources consist of books and articles relevant to the researcher's objectives and topic. The data collection technique in this research is the note-taking technique, with data analysis using Miles and Huberman's method, which comprises three analysis techniques: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate three forms of power hegemony, namely authoritarian, capitalism, and consensus, totaling 6 data points. Additionally, the impact of power hegemony on the main character is shown in 9 data points, representing forms of in-group and out-group attitudes or personalities. Furthermore, 4 data points demonstrate character changes in the main character. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the forms of Zionist Israeli power hegemony create a psychological impact on the main character. Consequently, power hegemony becomes one of the factors in the formation of the main character's personality or identity construction, built from a series of events or experiences.

Abstract

Linguistics is unconsciously used in naming. Many human creativity in naming were done by applying linguistic theories. The study explores how Pokémon names were created based on linguistic theories. It is because more new names and terminologies have always been created following the development of technology and human civilizations. Literary works are one of human creativity that never ends. As a result, many new words are coined to be distinctive and memorable for the ‘market’. For thirty years, Pokémon has always updated their creativity in naming thousands of terminologies and Pokémon species. It makes scholars intrigued in understanding human capability in applying linguistic theories on forming their names. Phonological, graphemical as well as morphological theories were used in forming new Pokémon names. This is a descriptive-qualitative research. Data used were obtained from a webpage named Pokémon database. The data used in this research were limited to the first generation of the Pokémon game names. The research is expected to bring new horizons as the results of how Pokémon names were created. The results show that there are additional ways of naming literary characters phonologically and morphologically. The result shows consonant insertion and vowel deletion in addition to Balteiro’s (2013) theory and suffixation in addition to Mattielo’s (2013) theory used in forming Pokémon names. There is also certain sound used in order to create an archaic effect such as the ending -th.

Abstract

Racial discrimination is still a conspicuous issue in literature, as in Kim Johnson's This is My America (2020). This study aims to scrutinize the racism issues in the novel. The Beaumont family experiences racial prejudice: Mr. Beaumont, the father, is incarcerated due to the accusation of killing a white couple; Tracy, the daughter, is assaulted at school due to the father's prosecution; and Jamal, the son, is convicted of killing a white girl due to the father's history. This study employs a close reading methodology (Ohrvik, 2024) to gain a comprehensive interpretation of the narrative. Moreover, this study utilizes Alport's prejudice scheme (1954) and Pincus' discrimination frame (2000) to discuss the story's conflict in-depth. The discussion shows that This is My America portrays three types of discrimination: individual, institutional, and structural. The discriminatory acts in the forms of unjust laws, social exclusion, and physical attacks are enforced by the belief in white supremacy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan pengaruh signifikan penggunaan media berbasis Artificial Intelligence (AI) terhadap (1) kemampuan berpikir kritis (2) keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi dan (3) perbedaan hasil antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada siswa kelas X UPT SMA Negeri 4 Luwu. Penelitian ini menggunakan true experimental design dengan model pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X UPT SMA Negeri 4 Luwu. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis sebelum dan setelah perlakuan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media berbasis Artificial Intelligence secara signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hasil Paired Sample T Test menunjukkan = 30.668 > ​=2.013 dengan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga H₁ diterima. Rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis meningkat dari 47,13 (kategori rendah) menjadi 75,96 (kategori tinggi). Media Artificial Intelligence juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi. Hasil Paired Sample T Test menunjukkan = 8.935 > ​=2.013 dengan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga H₁ diterima. Rata-rata keterampilan menulis meningkat dari 58,94 (kategori kurang) menjadi 76,38 (kategori cukup). Hasil Independent Sample T Test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Untuk Kemampuan berpikir kritis, =9.636 > ​=1.989 dengan nilai Sig. 0,000 < 0,05. Untuk Keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi, ​=4.719 > ​=1.989 dengan nilai Sig. 0,000 < 0,05. Selisih rata-rata posttest menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen memiliki hasil lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media berbasis Artificial Intelligence (AI) terbukti memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas X UPT SMA Negeri 4 Luwu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada tingkat literasi digital mahasiswa dalam menganalisis berita hoaks. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini, yaitu untuk mengukur tingkat literasi digital mahasiswa dalam menganalisis berita hoaks di media sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian deskripstif kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik angket atau kuesioner yang diisi oleh mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini, yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat literasi digital mahasiswa dalam menganalisis berita hoaks berada pada kategori menengah hingga tinggi. Mahasiswa umumnya sudah memiliki pemahaman dasar tentang literasi digital, seperti kemampuan mengenali sumber informasi yang kredibel, memahami cara verifikasi informasi, dan penggunaan media sosial dengan lebih bijak. Namun, masih terdapat sebagian mahasiswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam mengidentifikasi berita hoaks secara cepat dan tepat.
