Abstract

Telepharmacy is an online application used to provide pharmaceutical services in the modern era. Therefore, this study aims to develop a questionnaire on a research model that integrates three well-known theories, namely the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), the protection motivation theory (PMT), and the DeLone and McLean information success model, to determine factors that influence people’s behavior towards the adoption of telepharmacy services. A cross-sectional observational method was used with the purposive sampling technique. A total of 118 participants who were at least 18 years old received the questionnaire. They were selected using convenience sampling from a variety of population groupings. Data analysis was then performed with the exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Factor extraction was carried out using principal component analysis and varimax rotation. The results show 8 factors consisting of social influence and support 15.54%; understanding of proficiency, confidence and quality of information 11.06%; condition of facilities and skills 6.64%; severity and suffering 7.87%; time opportunity support and system quality 7.74%; intention to adopt telepharmacy 7.34%; perceived vulnerability 6.80%; and attitude 6.37%. Furthermore, the overall construct formed can explain 72.40% of the total variance. These results indicate that the telepharmacy service adoption behavior questionnaire is valid and reliable.

Abstract

Sepsis is one of the major causes of death in hospitalized worldwide, but there are many nurses who have insufficient knowledge about sepsis. The use of mobile phones as learning devices potentially improves knowledge in nursing education in the pre-clinical stage. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mobile learning application in improving nursing students’ knowledge about sepsis and its nursing care. This research was a pre-experimental study with the one-group pretest-posttest design. The study involved 57 students in the Nursing Department, Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University. Their knowledge levels were measured before and after they used mobile learning applications. The nursing students’ age was 19-24 years old; 93% were female; 82% of students had received information about sepsis from course materials and the internet, and 65% were currently studying the Nursing Profession Program. The median value of the interquartile range pretest was 40+20, and 70+30 for the posttest. The statistical test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05); there were significant differences in students’ knowledge levels before and after using the mobile learning application. Using the mobile learning application can effectively enhance nursing students’ understanding of sepsis care.

Abstract

Female students are still at risk of experiencing sexual harassment, which can lead to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This study investigated the impact of social support on PTSD female students who have been sexually harassed, as mediated by the resilience and religious coping. Out of a total of 1,439 female students who filed online self-reports, 170 female students reported being sexually harassed by lecturers, male students, and administrative officers. The PTSD checklist–civilian version (PCL-C), Multidimensional scale of perceived social support, brief resilience scale, and brief religious coping scale (RCOPE) were used to collect data. Partial least squares (PLS) modeling was used to test the developed hypothesis. This study found that social support, resilience, and religious coping all had an impact on PTSD. Furthermore, social support has an indirect effect on PTSD through resilience and religious coping. Because resilience and coping are mediators in recovering PTSD and that both can be intervened and modified, a training program specifically designed to improve both is needed to overcome the PTSD symptoms experienced by sexual harassment victims.

Abstract

The older population continues to grow globally, and data related to the prevalence of depressive symptoms among this population in Malaysia is scarce. Thus, this study aimed to determine the prevalence and determinants of depression symptoms among community-dwelling older adults in Malaysia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 220 outpatients with chronic diseases. The level of depression was operationalized using the Malay version of the Geriatric Depression Scale. The prevalence of depression among community-dwelling older adults was 16.4%. Female (OR =8.86, 95% CI=1.10–7.53, p=0.03), Chinese ethnic group (OR=4.73, 95% CI= 1.04– 21.48, p=0.04), multimorbidity (OR=3.36, 95% CI=1.07–12.60, p=0.04) and presence of pain (OR=6.67, 95% CI=2.41–18.45, p<0.01) were associated to depressive symptoms. However, higher resilience was associated with lower risk of depressive symptoms in this population (OR=0.88, 95% CI=0.88–0.93, p<0.01). The prevalence of depressive symptoms among older adults with chronic diseases is higher than in previous data. Early identification of depression in this population is crucial for effective chronic disease management.

Abstract

It is known that individuals who are immigrants experience malnutrition due to various reasons. The present study was conducted to compare the nutritional status of immigrant women, who arrive in Turkey from Syria, before and after migration, and to determine the factors that affect their current healthy eating index scores. The individuals participating in the study were recruited from Immigrant Health Unit in Mardin-Turkey. The sampling of this cross-sectional study consisted of the women who were between the ages of 15-49, 450 Syrian migrant women participated in the study. The data were collected with face-to-face interview technique and with a questionnaire that consisted of 2 parts. According to the Healthy Eating Index (HEI)-2015 score of the individuals mean was found to be 52.90±9.40. According to the hierarchical regression model, the monthly income, life expectancy in Turkey, body mass index (BMI), and the number of individuals in the family were statistically significant components to predict the mean HEI score. It was determined that the basic eating habits of individuals changed in the country of immigration, and more foods with high carbohydrate and saturated fat contents were consumed. It is required to design comprehensive studies and policies.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic poses a risk of increasing cases of computer vision syndrome (CVS) due to changes in the environment for work and study because of the implementation of the Work/Study from Home policy. This study aimed to determine the risk factors associated with CVS in students. The study design was cross-sectional with the population of bachelor program students, with a sample size of 124 students. Data were collected through online questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out to study the statistical relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable using the Chi-Square test. This study showed that the prevalence of CVS among students was 87.1%. The analysis showed that one variable had a significant relationship with CVS in students, namely emotional exhaustion (OR 5.47, 95% CI: 1.75-17.02). Another variable, although not significant, was considered to play a role as a risk factor for CVS, namely the duration of computer use (OR 4.75, 95% CI: 1.02-22.25). Emotional exhaustion and duration of computer use are important risk factors in the occurrence of CVS in students during the online learning period. It is necessary to increase socialization regarding the ergonomics of using computers and stress management to prevent CVS in students.

Abstract

The application of larvicide from botanical origin was extensively studied as an essential part of mosquito prevention. This study aimed to assess the difference in container index (CI) based on the characteristics of water containers using Ziziphus mauritiana leaf extract solution. A quasi- experiment research was done among 300 selected containers with temephos as a control and 9% of Ziziphus mauritiana leaf extract solution as a treatment. The types of containers observed in this study were the type of water, container materials, location, container lids, and community behavior regarding immature Aedes aegypti breeding eradication. Water containers without lids and outside the house had a significantly higher CI among treatment (OR=26; 3.69–18.34; p=0.001 and OR=20; 2.04–19.64; p=0.003) and control group (OR= 10.83; 95% CI=1.96–59.83; p=0.005 and OR=6.43; 95% CI=1.02–40.26; p=0.04). Negative community behavior regarding the prevention and eradication of Aedes immatures was significantly associated with greater odds of high CI among treatment and control, with OR=37.5; 3.64–38.65; p=0.001 and OR=16.88; 2.56-11.4; p=0.002, respectively. Furthermore, containers with rainwater out of the treatment group had a higher presence of Aedes larvae (OR=11.25; 1.15–11.05; p=0.03).

Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a one of crucial concern to blood safety because of their prolonged presence in the blood. Unsafe blood transfusion from infected donor contribute to spread the virus as well. Indonesia health ministry reported that HIV infection increase significantly in 2019 to 2021, and HIV case diagnose in population still way from the prediction in 2020, only 78.7% cases reported from 90% prediction case. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted and collected 51,351 blood donors during COVID-19 pandemic, 2020-2021. Blood sample analyzed using serological methods to detect the present of HIV antibodies. A reactive result of HIV screening from 21,260 donor in 2020 showed 12 donors reactive (0.00056%), while in 2021 from 30,091 donor showed 42 donors reactive (0.142899%) and showed a significant different from 2020 and 2021 (p-value <0.05). The number of reactive donors increase numerously from 2020 to 2021, while total donor also increased. The level of social restriction has contribution of HIV reactive case among blood donor and showed from two years of pandemic with p-value <0.05. A significant increase of HIV infection among blood donor and the effect of restriction level to prevent COVID-19 transmission are clearly show in this study.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown measures significantly affected the readiness of dermatology patients to contact health services. However, such trends have yet to be documented in Albania. To this aim, we collected the relevant information about all patients who sought medical help at the dermatology clinic, University Hospital Center “Mother Theresa”, in Tirana, Albania, during 2019-2021 and compared outpatient visits trend across the years. A total of 7,807 patients have been consulted in our dermatology clinic during this period. Compared to 2019, the number of visits decreased significantly by 72% in 2020 and 57% during 2021. The ratio of visits by gender Male/Female, for the three years, was 1:1.1, 1:1.3, and 1:1, respectively. The age group >65 years old had more frequently visited our clinic but its weight within all patients dropped by 5 percentage points during the pandemic. Patients from Tirana had frequented more often the outpatient unit in 2019 and 2021. In conclusion, the pandemic situation due to COVID-19 had an unprecedented impact on Dermatology Service in our university tertiary center. There were significant reductions in the number of outpatient visits, and other differences with regard to patients’ demographic characteristics.

Abstract

To prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from spreading extensively and rapidly during the pandemic, protective behaviors are crucial. This study aimed to determine the influence of risk perceptions, health care, social influences, and intentions on the improvement of protective behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 325 participants consisting of 74 men and 251 women (mean age (M)=21.47, SD=6.8). Based on previous studies, measurements were conducted using a variety of questionnaires. The hypotheses were examined by data analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that the proposed model met the established criteria. It is interesting to note that risk perceptions influence how protective behaviors are improved through health care and intentions. The social influences on protective behaviors, meanwhile, are both directly and partially mediated by intentions. In conclusion, health care and intentions serve as mediators between risk perceptions and protective behaviors rather than being directly associated. Health care, however, is unrelated to intentions. Furthermore, social influences are the most dominant factor in improving protective behaviors during COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it may serve as a preliminary justification for the government to promote for a policy that addresses social influences in order to improve protective behaviors.
