Abstract

Islamic studies has long been a rich and diverse field of study, encompassing a wide range of disciplines including theology, law, history, and philology. However, sociological and anthropological approaches offer new perspectives that can enrich our understanding of Islam and Muslim societies. This research aims to explore the relevance and contribution of sociology and anthropology in Islamic studies. By utilizing qualitative methods, including literature analysis and in-depth interviews with experts, this research examines how these approaches can provide deeper insights into religious practices, cultural identities, and social dynamics within Muslim communities. Research findings show that sociology helps in understanding social structures and power relationships in Muslim communities, while anthropology provides tools for exploring symbolic meanings and performing ritual practices. The combination of these two approaches opens up opportunities for a more holistic and interdisciplinary study of Islam, which does not only focus on texts and doctrines, but also on the life experiences and daily practices of Muslims. This research concludes that the integration of sociology and anthropology in Islamic studies is very relevant and important to produce a more comprehensive and contextual understanding of Islam in the contemporary world. Keywords: Islamic Studies; Sociology; Anthropology; Interdisciplinary Approach.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of family planning in the perspective of hadith with the aim of understanding the Prophet Muhammad's instructions related to the balance of life which includes spiritual, social, and economic dimensions. The focus of this research is on analyzing the hadith-reports relevant to the practice of family planning, including birth control, planning the number of children, and holistic family welfare. A qualitative-descriptive approach was used to explore the hadith texts and the historical and social contexts in which they were uttered in order to understand the Prophet's guidance in its entirety. The results show that the Prophet Muhammad provided flexible and contextualized guidance on family planning. In various traditions, there are indications of support for family planning when it is aimed at ensuring the well-being of the individual, family and society. The Prophet also emphasized the importance of moral and social responsibility in determining the number of children, taking into account factors such as economic capacity, maternal health, and family stability. This study highlights that Islamic teachings are dynamic and capable of responding to contemporary challenges, including the issue of family planning. A holistic understanding of these traditions can support the implementation of family planning programs that are in line with Islamic values, without neglecting health, economic and social aspects. As such, this study contributes to modern Islamic literature, particularly in the context of applying religious principles to support the balance of life and the welfare of society.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of mothers as the main educational agent in the family, serving as the first madrasah for children. Mothers not only educate children in academic aspects, but also in religious values, morals and life skills. Research shows that the education provided by mothers has a major influence on children's character development and moral understanding. However, mothers often face challenges in carrying out this role, such as dividing their time between work and household responsibilities. Support from husbands and government policies that support family welfare are essential to help mothers fulfill their roles well. The article also emphasizes the importance of providing better access to education for women so that they can contribute effectively to their children's education. In addition, the role of the media, religion and social institutions is crucial in reinforcing the social construction of mothers as primary educators. The media shapes society's views through representations of mothers, while religion emphasizes mothers' responsibilities in the moral and spiritual education of children. In the context of modern families, mothers face challenges in balancing traditional and modern roles, including role conflict and lack of support from social institutions. Therefore, it is important to provide adequate support for mothers so that they can optimally fulfill their dual roles.

The cultivation of religious values, such as honesty and responsibility, is considered important to build students' character with integrity. The method used is qualitative with a literature study approach, which involves analyzing related literature. The results showed that the implementation of a religious culture can improve students' discipline, empathy and social care. However, challenges such as limited resources and resistance to change need to be overcome to optimize the implementation of religious culture. A successful example can be seen at MI Tahfidz Al-Furqon Ponorogo, which successfully integrates Islamic values in daily activities, involving collaboration between the school and parents. A religious culture not only shapes individuals with good morals, but also contributes to the creation of a harmonious and civilized society.
