Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of realistic fiction instruction in fourth-grade classrooms, identifying the challenges in achieving optimal learning outcomes and addressing the need for a more effective approach. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, including document analysis, surveys, classroom observations, and interviews. The findings reveal that current teaching methods are insufficient in fostering deep literary appreciation among students. To address these issues, a learning module integrated with QR Codes is developed. The module incorporates digital content, fostering engagement and supporting a more interactive, multimodal approach to literature appreciation, ultimately promoting cognitive, affective, and psychomotor growth in students.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pendidikan anak usia dini memerlukan inovasi media pembelajaran yang menarik dan sesuai dengan perkembangan mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kebutuhan pengembangan buku cerita bergambar berbasis multimodal dan pendekatan permainan edukatif untuk membantu anak usia dini memperoleh bahasa. Penelitian ini berjenis deskriptif kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner berskala likert yang dibagikan kepada 43 pendidik dan 17 orang tua siswa. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif sederhana dan hasil analisis disajikan dalam bentuk persentase yang dilengkapi dengan ilustrasi diagram batang. Secara ringkas, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil survei berdasarkan tingkat persetujuan responden terhadap suatu pernyataan kuesioner. Sebagian kecil responden menyatakan sangat tidak setuju, 0,00% tidak setuju, 0,30% tidak setuju, 2,12% netral, 55,30% setuju, dan 42,27% sangat setuju dengan pernyataan tersebut. Sebagian besar responden cenderung setuju atau sangat setuju, dengan persentase tertinggi terdapat pada kategori setuju 55,30% dan sangat setuju 42,27%, menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas memiliki pandangan positif terhadap pernyataan tersebut. Kata kunci: Buku cerita bergambar, multimodalitas, pembelajaran bahasa, anak usia dini, permainan edukatif   ABSTRACT Early childhood education requires innovation in learning media that is interesting and by their development. This study aims to describe the need for the development of multimodal-based picture storybooks and educational game approaches to help early childhood acquire language. This study is a quantitative descriptive study. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 43 educators and 17 parents of students. The data were then analyzed using simple descriptive statistical techniques, and the results of the analysis were presented in the form of percentages accompanied by bar chart illustrations. In summary, the results of this study indicate that the survey results are based on the level of respondent agreement with a questionnaire statement. A small number of respondents stated that they strongly disagreed, 0.00% disagreed, 0.30% disagreed, 2.12% were neutral, 55.30% agreed, and 42.27% strongly agreed with the statement. Most respondents tended to agree or strongly agree, with the highest percentage in the agreed category of 55.30% and strongly agree 42.27%, indicating that the majority had a positive view of the statement. Abstract

This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with an anthropolinguistic approach. The data source in the research is the caretaker at each water source. The data in this research are the result of an anthropolinguistic review of the cultural meaning of the names of water sources in Banyuwangi. Data collection techniques were carried out through structured interviews and observations of the caretakers of each water source. Data analysis consists of (1) identifying the naming of each water source; (2) classifying the names of water sources based on their naming patterns and functions; (3) linking naming to its function and cultural background; and (4) describe and analyze the data found. The results of this research are (1) there is a pattern in the naming of fountains at water sources in Banyuwangi; (2) there is a cultural background and influence of Hindu religion on the patt Water Sources, Cultural Significance.

Abstract

Tonis Ta'aiftam Tafafat is one of the traditional marriage stages of the Pana Village community, Kolbano Sub district, South Central Timor Regency, to deliver the bride to the bridegroom's parents, who have married as customarily, religiously, and governmentally. The purpose of this research is to describe and explain the meaning contained in Tonis Ta'aiftam Tafafat in the Pana Village Community, Kolbano District, South Central Timor Regency. Referring to the problems raised in this study, the theory used is Hermeneutics theory. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The results of the research and discussion show that in Tonis Ta'aiftam Tafafat in the Pana Village Community, Kolbano Sub district, South Central Timor Regency, there are (1) Meaning of Request; (2) Meaning of Togetherness; and (3) Religious Meaning.

Abstract

This study investigates how focalization techniques are applied in Khalid Fahad's From The Ashes, with reference to the narratological theoretical framework developed by Gérard Genette. The main focus of the research lies on three types of focalization: zero focalization, internal focalization, and external focalization. Through a qualitative-descriptive method, this study identifies and analyzes how the three types of focalization are used in conveying the narrative, shaping the audience's perception, and building social meaning in the storyline. The results show that the film is dominated by a fixed internal focus centered on the main character who is a victim of bullying, thus presenting a subjective and empathetic narrative. In addition, there is also a shift to zero focalization in some scenes that show the objective reality of bullying as a social phenomenon. In other words, From the Ashes not only depicts the personal experiences of the victims, but also highlights the structural and systemic aspects of bullying in a broader social context. This research aims at how focalization strategies can reinforce social criticism and moral messages in cinematic works.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the meaning formed through the interaction of various forms, namely language, images, music, sound, and movement in the song video clip. Using a qualitative method with a multimodal discourse analysis approach, this study analyzes how the five forms of modes work simultaneously in conveying messages. The results of the study show that each form plays an important role in building the theme of longing, loss, and hope. Language is used to convey the narrative, images and movements strengthen the emotional meaning, while music and sound create an atmosphere that supports the overall message. These findings indicate that the multimodal discourse approach is able to reveal complex meanings in works of art, as well as being a means to represent ideas, experiences, and social realities through various complementary forms.

Abstract

This study was conducted because many women's positions are marginalized in a text in a novel. This study aims to describe the position of the characters in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo using Sara Mills' feminist theory. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with reading and note-taking techniques to collect data. The data source is the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo and the data obtained are in the form of quotes, both speech and narrative in the novel. The results of the study contain 64 subject-object and reader positions. The results of this study are the subject or narrator positions described in the novel are Mrs. Leba Ali, Mrs. Agustin, Magi Wara, Magi, Lawe, Leba Ali's relatives, and Mama Bernadet. While the object positions are Magi, Ina Kecil, Tara, Ama, Leba Ali, the kidnapper, Om Vincent Dangu, and the women. The reader position is to involve the reader so that they feel what the characters in the novel feel.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the ability of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Cikarang Pusat in writing speech texts using the jigsaw model. This study used a non-equivalent control group design, namely an experiment (quasi-experiment). The population of this study was all eighth grade students and the sample in this study was class VIII A as the experimental class and VIII B as the control class. Data processing using SPSS version 26 was carried out with normality, homogeneity, hypothesis, n-gain, and TCR tests. The results of this study were proven by the results of the tests given, namely the average posttest score for the ability to write speech texts using the jigsaw model was greater than the average pretest score before the application of the jigsaw model, the average pretest score was 59.33. After the puzzle model treatment was applied, the average posttest score was 85.33. And 88.13% was the result of the TCR. Based on these values, it can be concluded that the application of the jigsaw model is effective in improving the speech text writing skills of eighth grade students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Found Poetry model on the poetry writing skills of Grade XI students at SMAN 6 Karawang in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research employed a quantitative approach using a posttest-only control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class treated with the Found Poetry model and a control class using conventional learning. The instrument used was a poetry writing test based on the assessment aspects proposed by Waluyo (2003), namely diction, imagery, figurative language, rhyme/rhythm, typography, theme, feeling, tone, message, and unity of the poem. The analysis results showed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control classes. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 35.70, while the control class scored 23.67. The t-test results showed a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a positive influence of the Found Poetry model on students' poetry writing skills. Thus, Found Poetry is proven effective and can serve as an alternative method for teaching poetry writing at the senior high school level.

Abstract

This study examines the structure and function of Tutunggulan performances in Raharja Village using Sims & Stephens' performance theory and Dundes' folklore function theory. The method used is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. Research data was obtained from observations, documentation, and interviews with Tutunggulan performers in Raharja Village. The results of the study show that 11 of the 13 performance structures of Tutunggulan in Raharja Village are present. Two indicators are not present in the Tutunggulan performance in Raharja Village because the Tutunggulan performance in Raharja Village is not a verbal performance but a musical performance and does not include text in its performance. Furthermore, 4 out of 6 indicators of folklore functions were found in the Tutunggulan performance in Raharja Village. The 2 indicators that were not fulfilled were (1) imposing social sanctions and punishments to encourage good behavior and (2) serving as a means of social criticism. A shift in the function of Tutunggulan was also found, from its original form as an activity of pounding rice to its current form as entertainment for the people of Raharja Village.
