Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini menganalisis makrostruktur dan mikrostruktur dari tiga kamus pelajar ekabahasa, yaitu Kamus Bahasa Indonesia untuk Pelajar, Cambridge School Dictionary, dan Mu’Jam Al-Muḥiid. Efektivitas kamus tidak hanya ditentukan oleh entri leksikal, tetapi juga kejelasan dan kelengkapan desain strukturnya. Makrostruktur mencakup organisasi keseluruhan entri, seperti urutan alfabetis, sistem pengindeksan, jenis lema, dan unsur lainnya. Sementara itu, mikrostruktur meliputi informasi detail setiap entri, seperti pelafalan, kelas kata, definisi, contoh kalimat, etimologi, sinonim, antonim, dan label gaya bahasa. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi persamaan dan perbedaan struktur kamus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Cambridge School Dictionary memiliki fitur makro dan mikro yang sistematis dan komprehensif sehingga efektif untuk pembelajar bahasa Inggris. Kamus Bahasa Indonesia untuk Pelajar cukup membantu, namun terbatas ketiadaan sinonim dan antonim. Mu’Jam Al-Muḥiid sebagai kamus klasik bahasa Arab unggul kedalaman makna dan kekayaan etimologi, tetapi belum memiliki fitur modern yang ramah pengguna, seperti label sosial dan contoh penggunaan kontekstual.   ABSTRACT This study analyzes the macrostructure and microstructure of three monolingual student dictionaries: the Indonesian Dictionary for Students, the Cambridge School Dictionary, and Mu’Jam Al-Muḥiid. The effectiveness of a dictionary is determined not only by its lexical entries but also by the clarity and completeness of its structural design. Macrostructure encompasses the overall organization of entries, such as alphabetical order, indexing system, types of entries, and other elements. Meanwhile, microstructure encompasses detailed information about each entry, such as pronunciation, word class, definition, example sentences, etymology, synonyms, antonyms, and stylistic labels. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study identifies similarities and differences in dictionary structure. The results show that the Cambridge School Dictionary has systematic and comprehensive macro and micro features, making it effective for English learners. The Indonesian Dictionary for Students is quite helpful, but is limited by the lack of synonyms and antonyms. Mu’Jam Al-Muḥiid, as a classical Arabic dictionary, excels in its depth of meaning and richness of etymology, but lacks modern, user-friendly features, such as social labels and contextual usage examples.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Rendahnya keterampilan membaca teks cerita pendek siswa yang ditunjukkan oleh kurangnya minat membaca dan ketidakmampuan mereka memahami struktur, unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik, serta kaidah kebahasaan cerita pendek merupakan hal yang mendorong penelitian ini. Desain penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimental dan menggunakan metodologi kuantitatif. Sebanyak 62 siswa menjadi sampel penelitian, 31 di kelas eksperimen, yang menggunakan model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) dengan bantuan educandy, dan 31 di kelompok kontrol, yang menggunakan metode ceramah. Dengan rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,72 (kategori tinggi) dibandingkan dengan 0,46 (kategori sedang) untuk kelas kontrol, temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan peningkatan yang cukup besar dalam keterampilan membaca cerita pendek kelas eksperimen. Kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol berbeda secara signifikan, sebagaimana ditunjukkan oleh nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 pada hasil Uji Mann Whitney. Oleh karena itu, telah dibuktikan bahwa model tgt, dengan bantuan educandy, berhasil meningkatkan terampilan membaca cerita pendek siswa.   ABSTRACT The low reading skills of students' short story texts, indicated by their lack of interest in reading and their inability to understand the structure, intrinsic and extrinsic elements, and linguistic rules of short stories, are the driving force behind this research. This research design is quasi-experimental and uses quantitative methodology. A total of 62 students became the research sample, 31 in the experimental class, which used the tgt model with the help of educandy, and 31 in the control group, which used the lecture method. With an average N-Gain of 0.72 (high category) compared to 0.46 (medium category) for the control class, the findings of this study indicate a significant increase in the short story reading skills of the experimental class. The experimental and control groups differ significantly, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 in the Mann Whitney Test results. Therefore, it has been proven that the tgt model, with the help of educandy, successfully improves students' short story reading skills.

Abstract

Small talk in greetings is an integral part of polite communication in Indonesian society, rooted in cultural and social values. This study aims to identify and analyze forms of small talk in Indonesian greetings through Geoffrey Leech’s politeness principles. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a pragmatic discourse analysis method. The data source consists of utterances found in Indonesian-language vlog videos produced by the researchers and uploaded to the Plurikultural Indonesia YouTube channel. Data were collected using observation, participation, and note-taking techniques, and analyzed based on Leech’s politeness maxims: tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The findings reveal that small talk expressions in greetings reflect pragmatic strategies to maintain harmony and communication ethics. Each maxim emerges in varied contexts depending on the situation and relationship between speakers. These findings highlight the significance of politeness in daily interaction and have implications for the development of contextual BIPA teaching materials and intercultural education rooted in local values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze stylistic elements in a collection of poems using a stylistic approach with content analysis methods and a library research design. The data, consisting of words and phrases from 19 poems, were categorized into figures of speech, structural manipulation, and imagery. Data collection techniques included reading, observing, and note-taking. The analysis revealed a rich variety of language styles, with 82 instances of figurative language, 65 structural manipulations, and 98 uses of imagery that enhance the meaning and rhythm of the poems. These findings were implemented into an e-learning poetry module, validated by two experts and applied at SMA Negeri 1 Tanjungsiang. Based on questionnaires completed by 35 students, 96.9% of responses indicated that the module was clear, engaging, and supportive of independent learning.

Abstract

The richness of oral literature found throughout Indonesia consists of various forms, one of which is folk poetry. Folk poetry is an oral form of poetry that develops within traditional societies. One type of folk poetry among the Batak Toba people is called umpasa. One of the uses of umpasa is in the mangadati tradition. The mangadati tradition in Batak Toba weddings presents umpasa, which contains deep meanings and values. This study aims to describe the forms, meanings, and values of umpasa in Batak Toba weddings in Cipinang Besar, East Jakarta. The research method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis began with data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Eleven umpasa used in Batak Toba weddings were found. The forms found in the umpasa are divided into text, co-text, and context, which are rich in meaning and contain values such as personal values, family values, material values, spiritual values, sociocultural values, and moral values.

Abstract

The purpose of writing is to enable readers to understand, comprehend, and comprehend the values ​​contained in a text, thus enabling them to think, express opinions, or act on the content. The chosen learning model can help students become more active in learning and not solely teacher-centered. In this case, the researcher chose a project-based learning model to be applied to the writing skills of junior high school students. The object of this study was the writing skills of eighth-grade students on observational report texts. This research provides a new contribution to the importance of implementing the Project-Based Learning model through an Artificial Intelligence-assisted Flipped Classroom on observational report text writing skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the project-based learning model through an artificial intelligence-assisted flipped classroom on observational report text writing skills. This study used a sample of eighth-grade junior high school students in South Solok Regency. Quantitative data analysis in this study used ANOVA to test the hypothesis. Before the data were tested with ANOVA, prerequisite tests were conducted, namely normality and homogeneity tests. In this study, the significance value of Levene's Test = 0.01 (<0.05), therefore, the first row (equal variances assumed) was used. Based on the results of the t-test on the equal variances assumed row, the Sig. (2-tailed) value was obtained at 0.01 (<0.05). This means that there is no significant difference between the writing skills of observation report texts (LHO) of students in experimental class 1 and experimental class 2. The Mean Difference value of 18.503 is positive, which indicates that the writing skills of observation report texts (LHO) of students in experimental class 1 are not much different from those in experiment 2.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Enhanced Indonesian Spelling System (EYD) in speech texts written by eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Alasa. The research was inspired by internship findings showing that many students still fail to apply proper spelling rules in formal writing. The study focuses on three main aspects: letter usage, word writing, and punctuation. A qualitative descriptive method was applied. Data were collected from 21 student speeches on the topic “Garbage Problem” through documentation and written tests. The analysis revealed 262 spelling errors, mostly in capital letter usage, followed by word writing and punctuation. The pattern indicates that students have limited understanding of contextual capitalization, correct word formation, and punctuation functions. The study recommends more practical and writing-integrated spelling instruction so that students can produce clearer and more rule-compliant written works in Indonesian.

Abstract

Arabic is a Semitic language with a complex phonetic system, with a number of distinctive phonemes such as pharyngeal, glottal, and emphatic consonants that are not commonly found in non-Semitic languages. These phonetic uniqueness poses significant challenges for speakers of other languages, particularly in the context of learning Arabic as a second language (L2). Phonetic interference from the first language (L1) often hinders the accurate acquisition of Arabic phonemes, thus impacting communication clarity and potential changes in meaning, especially in religious contexts such as Quran recitation. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to identify and analyze 21 articles discussing the phenomenon of Arabic phonetic interference in other languages. The results show that phonetic difficulties are primarily caused by the lack of phoneme equivalents in the mother tongue, and are influenced by variations in Arabic dialects that complicate the learning process and the development of linguistic technology. Adaptive and technology-based learning strategies are recommended to improve pronunciation accuracy. Furthermore, the study of phonetics has broad implications in the fields of education, translation, cultural documentation, and the development of language learning applications. This research contributes to the development of a more inclusive Arabic language curriculum and opens up space for interdisciplinary collaboration between linguistics, pedagogy, and technology.

Abstract

The problem behind this research is the large number of errors in Indonesian when writing posts on social media. Effective sentences are one of the mistakes that are often encountered on social media. Mistakes in using effective sentences on social media have an influence on posts. Many people don't know about effective sentences on social media, effective sentences play an important role on social media, even in posts. This is the cause of effective sentence errors being chosen as the research object. This research aims to analyze Indonesian language errors in sentences on Kominfo Padangpanjang's Instagram posts. The type of method used in the research is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection methods and techniques in this research are observation methods and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique in this research is using the intralingual matching method. The analysis steps are carried out in stages 1) reading Kominfo Padangpanjang's Instagram posts dated 1-15 June 2024, 2) tabulating Kominfo Padangpanjang's Instagram post data, 3) classifying Kominfo's Instagram post data Padangpanjang, 4) analyzing data, and 5) conclusions. Based on the analysis results obtained in this research, sentence errors are effective in the aspects of straightforwardness, accuracy, clarity, economy and alignment. Based on errors found, 59 data were found. Based on the classification, 15 data were found for straightforwardness, 3 data were found for accuracy, 11 data were found for clarity, 18 data were found for frugality, and 13 data were found for parallelism.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the elements contained in the Legend of Mount Kelud, which reflect the cultural identity of the surrounding community. Through a sociological analysis of literature, this study examines the relationship between folklore and the daily lives of the community, as well as its role in preserving culture and morals. The method used in this study is a historical approach using normative and interpretative analysis. Data were collected through observation, recording, and analysis of documents sourced from books and articles related to the legend of Mount Kelud. The results of the study indicate that the legend of Mount Kelud has a strong relevance in the lives of the community, especially in traditional practices such as ruwatan (traditional rituals) and larung sesaji (offerings). This legend serves as a guardian of cultural identity, strengthens social solidarity, and teaches spiritual and moral values ​​related to the balance of nature. In addition, this legend also plays a role in introducing and preserving local culture, and is an important part of the oral tradition passed down from generation to generation.
