Abstract

Background: Adolescence is an important transitional period due to excessive curiosity. Adolescents' curiosity about sexual life is increasing along with the information on social media. The problem of premarital sexual behavior in adolescents is very important to prevent because it can lead to early pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Objective: This activity aims to increase knowledge about the impact of premarital sexual behavior and its prevention on students of SMK Setya Bhakti 2 and SMK 16 East Jakarta. Method: Community service activities began with data collection at schools in the East Jakarta area, then providing direct education to grade XII students. All participants were given a pre-test and post-test as an evaluation. Results: The activity was held on February 16 2024, attended by 38 students of SMK Setya Bhakti 2 and 40 students of SMK 16 East Jakarta. The average age of participants was 17-18 years. More than fifty percent participants had poor knowledge regarding free sex (61.5%), then increased to be good knowledge by 77.0%. Conclusion: Premarital sexual education for grade XII students can increase their knowledge so that adolescents can avoid the dangers of free sexual behavior.

Abstract

Background: Pacitan Regency, located between hills, mountains, and waters, boasts abundant natural resources, including geothermal potential and renewable energy. However, its remote location, far from the capital of East Java, has led to underutilization of these resources, particularly in the tourism sector. Objective: This initiative aims to develop eco-friendly tourist destinations integrated with IoT technology to enhance Pacitan's branding and recognition. Method: The project involves planning through Forum Group Discussions (FGD) and socialization, followed by technical implementation, publicity, recruitment of local cadres, and signing of integrity pacts. Subsequent steps include strengthening local identity, implementation, and program monitoring and evaluation. Results: The partnership has effectively addressed challenges related to infrastructure and planning for renewable energy and IoT-based geothermal tourism while adhering to sustainable development principles. Conclusion: The activity was successfully executed, receiving strong support from regional figures. The material delivery was precise, the target participant numbers were met, and there was significant collaboration with local communities and universities. The project has not only helped local partners but also contributed to Pacitan's potential for sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

Background: Elderly are susceptible to various health problems, where one aspect that greatly influences the health of the elderly is the fulfillment of proper nutritional needs. Objective: This activity aims to increase knowledge about optimizing the health of the elderly through nutritional counseling and early detection status. Method: The method used is to provide counseling through lectures and then discussion sessions. The evaluation of this activity using a pre-test and post-test were carried out 10 questions with a score of 10 for each question. The total score was averaged to obtain the mean score. Early detection through measuring body weight, cholesterol levels, blood sugar and uric acid to determine the health problems of the elderly. Results: The results of the activity were that the elderly who attended 76 people experienced an increase in knowledge about nutrients, from the answers to questions given to 15 counseling participants. Health checks found values above normal, namely 7 people's weight, 9 people's blood pressure, 6 people's blood sugar, 8 people's cholesterol, and 5 people's uric acid, while values below normal were 4 people's weight. This activity also increased participants' knowledge from an average pretest score of 56 to a post-test of 85. Conclusion: Nutrition counseling and health checks have the potential to have a positive impact on the health and quality of life of the elderly. The importance of nutritional education and early detection of elderly health problems so that the quality of life of the elderly is maintained.

Abstract

Background: Kemutug Lor Village is located on the slopes of Mount Slamet which has natural resource potential, but its people live below the poverty line. Rabbit farming is one alternative solution to diversify the income of the people of Kemutug Lor Village. Objective: This activity aims to transfer knowledge and skills through education on rabbit farming. Method: This activity used a participatory method from determining the problem's urgency, and selecting alternative strategies by utilizing local potential, and education/counseling activities. The participants were the Wana Karya Lestari LMDH and the Kemutug Lor village community. The tools and materials used are cameras, stationery, materials, and rabbits. Results: The participants actively discussed during the activity. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed that there was an increase in score post-test. So it can be said that after the counseling activity, the participants' knowledge and understanding of rabbit farming increased. Conclusion: The implementation of community service activities as a whole is beneficial to the community and LMDH Wana Karya Lestari. Therefore, it is expected to be carried out sustainably.

Abstract

Background: This activity was carried out to follow up on the problems and potential that exist in Sukajaya Hamlet, Tanjungjaya Village, the results of field observations found problems during the Covid 19 pandemic regarding the remoteness of Sukajaya Village area to the shopping centers, making it difficult for people to get access to food. Objective: This activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the community in order to utilize the potential that exists today, namely that almost every house where the Head of the Family lives has a yard that is large enough and can be used for planting vegetables. Method: This activity was carried out through outreach activities and training on the importance of using yard land as a family living shop (planting vegetables). Partners of this activity were Paguyuban Silih Asih 1 and 2, totaling 40 people. Results: The result showed all participants experienced an increase in knowledge and skills in using home yard land. Conclusion: Partners felt very helped by this yard land utilization training. After the activities were carried out, partners felt helped in meeting their food needs and their knowledge about food security increased.

Abstract

Background: The Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) pandemic that hit throughout 2021-2022 had an impact on the decline in health and weight loss of livestock farmers in Lawang who are members of the Burja Goat Edu Farm by more than 50%. Objective: Knowing the benefits of giving routine Laser Puncture to the Burja Goat acupuncture points to increase their weight and health status. Method: Observation and administration of Laserpuncture on 20 goats in one observation pen. The use of Laser puncture to increase body weight in Burja goats is carried out periodically for 2 months with frequency of twice a week. Observating, counseling, and recording of weight gain and health status of Burja goats. Results: Observation and recording of the provision of Laserpuncture showed an increase in body weight of 0.5 kg per week in 1 month it could reach 4 kg. Counseling, coaching and mentoring from students were carried out to record the health status of burja goats by routinely providing vitamins according to the dosage needed at each stage of their growth and development. Conclusion: Laserpuncture administration on Burja goats provides an increase in body weight of 1 kg in 2 weeks and health quality of Burja goats.

Abstract

Background: Breast milk is an important food for newborns. Exclusive breastfeeding can reduce the risk of diarrhea, the risk of pneumonia, and can provide immunity for babies. Objective: This activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of postpartum mothers regarding how to breastfeed their newborns. Method: This activity started with education, then practicing latching on to the baby’s mouth. Participants in this activity were postpartum mothers at Tangerang City Hospital. Participants were given a pre-test and post-test, discussion, and were given the opportunity to practice giving exclusive breastfeeding directly to their babies. Results: There was an increase in mothers' knowledge regarding exclusive breastfeeding, from 20% to 100%. All participants actively participated in discussions during counseling and practice demonstrations on how to latch on to a baby's mouth correctly. Conclusion: Education can increase mothers' knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and practice how breastfeed correctly can help mothers undergo exclusive breastfeeding

Abstract

Background: This community service activity focuses on the issue of processing household organic waste into valuable products, namely eco-enzyme. Waste can have an impact on human health, including a medium for transmission of diseases such as diarrhea and leptospirosis, decreased air quality. Objective: This activity aims to reduce the volume of household organic waste to reduce environmental pollution and improve the quality of life of the community and create valuable products. Method: The method used in this activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR) where the activity is divided into 2 sessions, namely counseling and demonstration activities. The activities were carried out on March 16 - July 20, 2024 and the targets of the activities were residents of Pojok Village, Kediri City as many as 45 people. Activities were carried out in partnership with Bank Sampah Sri Wilis. Results: In this activity, it was found that there was an increase in participant’s knowledge about household organic waste processing, especially in making eco-enzymes. This is known from the results of pretest and post-test scores which have increased significantly. Conclusion: Training activities on making eco-enzymes can be an alternative in processing organic waste into useful product innovations, reducing environmental pollution, and improving the quality of human life.

Abstract

Background: Learning media is a component which takes place in the learning process for the education level. With the development of sophisticated technology, everyone in the education field is demanded to be able to apply the use of digital technology media for the learning process because of the unseparated use of technology in education. Objective: This activity aims to give a short course about making cartoon learning media using the makebeliefscomix.com web for learning activities for KB-RA Muslimat students. Method: This activity was carried out at KB-RA Muslimat Surabaya for 2 days to 8 teachers. The team provided material and created learning media using makebeliefscomix.com web and continued with material about marketing used as a theme in making cartoons. Results: The difficulties in creating learning media are in operating laptops, signing up, using email, determining topics, and incompatibility of material topics. However, all participants were able to complete the media creation well and enthusiastically and stated that this media is useful. Conclusion: All teacher participants were able to follow the instructions well, use and create interesting dialogue on the topic of marketing a product using Makebeliefscomix media even though they experienced several obstacles at the beginning of production.

Abstract

Background: The amount of garbage in Yogyakarta annually experiences consistent growth. Some inhabitants have not adopted autonomous garbage sorting and depend on police to handle waste management. Yet, the lack of daily garbage collection by officials has led to a buildup of domestic garbage in the Dusun Karangbendo. Knowledge in managing both organic and non-organic garbage may be significantly increased through education, making it one of the most crucial waste reduction measures. Objective: This activity aims to enhance the community's understanding and proficiency in biopores and the implementation of RAPEL as an environmentally friendly approach to trash reduction in Dusun Karangbendo, Banguntapan, Bantul. Method: The approach employed involves providing education and training to the residents of Dusun Karangbendo. Of 18 individuals underwent training to create biopore holes and utilise the RAPEL application to recycle non-organic garbage. Results: A significant rise in knowledge regarding trash management and a strong dedication to using the acquired techniques has been seen (p-value = 0.000). Conclusion: Such measures not only mitigate the adverse environmental effects of garbage but also yield supplementary economic advantages for the community. Anticipated is that this effort will serve as a paradigm for other areas inefficiently and durably handling trash.
