Abstract

This study aims to describe apology in Banjar language base on pragmatics study.Pragmatic shows us the principles of using language for interaction. Analysis throughpragmatic is a study about the ability using language to choose sentence according tothe context. The method used in this study is qualitative. The main data are utterancesthat contain apologize expresses in daily life in banjar informal situation. The dataare gained through taking note, recording, and interviewing. The result shows that theexpression of apologize of the speaker to say it directly are maaflah ‘I am sorry,jangan sariklah ‘do not be angry’, and ampun banarlah ‘I am terribly sorry’.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was conducted to know the acceptability of standard Indonesian vocabulary among teachers SMA/ SMK / MA as participant of socialization and test UKBI in Palu. The method used is descriptive method that done quantitatively. The data collection is done by using instruments in questionnaire form. The questionnaire consisted of questions related to personal data of respondents and nine pairs form standard Indonesianvocabulary. The nine forms of vocabulary can be specified into as absorptions of foreign languages whichconsist of three vocabularies, as morphological system consist of three vocabularies, and as the differentspelling forms consist of three vocabularies. The results of this study indicate that the ninth of standardIndonesian vocabulary there are four forms of vocabulary has not been accepted among teachers SMA / SMK/ MA as participant of socialization and test UKBI in Palu, such as salat, telanjur, komplet, dan mengebom.The reason of teachers choose vocabulary which not standardized (shalat, terlanjur, komplit, and membom)are they have not know language rules and their language use habit.

Abstract

Papua has 307 languages. But, the researchers never investigate about Papuanvocabulary in the Great Dictionary of the Indonesian Language (KBBI) IV edition. This research discusses about (1) Papuan vocabulary in KBBI and (2) itscharacteristics by the form, class, meaning, the possibility of becoming Indonesian vocabulary, inconsistencies, and obstacles. The goals of this research is to describe about (1) Papuan vocabulary in KBBI and (2) its characteristics by the form, class, meaning, the possibility of becoming Indonesian vocabulary, inconsistencies, and obstacles. Method of this research is descriptive analitics. Data was collected by documentation technique. The result of this research is to find 134 Papuan elements entering KBBI and they have form, class, and meaning variously. They are consists of noun, verb, and adjective. Papuan vocabulary has possiblity to enter in KBBI next edition if they don’t have culture concept (specially). However, the writer found inconsistencies and obstacles in the KBBI IV edition.

Abstract

Manusia menggunakan bahasa untuk menyatakan perasaan, gagasan, dan pikiran. Permainan bahasa terjadi ketika manusia memanipulasi bahasa pada kata, kelompok kata, kalimat, dan lainlain. Terdapat tiga kelompok permainan bahasa, yaitu permainan bahasa pada suara, bentuk, dan makna. Contoh dari permainan bahasa ini dapat ditemukan dalam alliterasi, anagram, ambigram, kaligram, pictogram, ligature, homofon, kata berbentuk kotak balok, humor, kartun, karikatur, dan lain sebagainya. Fungsi permainan bahasa dapat berupa berkelakar, mempersatukan bangsa, dan bahkan dapat merendahkan kelompok masyarakat lain.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan aktivitas belajar yang efektif dalam mengembangkan wawasan dan ilmu pengetahuan. Di lingkup perguruan tinggi, membaca menjadi penunjang kemampuan dasar mahasiswa lainnya, seperti berbicara dan menulis. Tuntutan pendidikan di zaman kompetitif saat ini dibutuhkan minat baca dan keterampilan menulis yang baik dalam memecahkan berbagai persoalan. Mahasiswa yang sudah terampil menulis, seperti menulis karya tulis ilmiah, akan terbiasa berpikir sistematis, cermat, serta tidak sembarangan dalam mengidentifikasi dan memecahkan persoalan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tingkat minat baca dan kemampuan menulis karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), serta untuk mengetahui tingkat korelasinya. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian korelasional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan tes. Data yang terkumpul diolah menggunakan teknik analisis product moment pearson correlation. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara minat baca dengan kemampuan menulis karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia UMI memiliki tingkat korelasi yang kuat. Selain itu, minat baca mahasiswa juga memiliki hubungan yang positif dengan kemampuan menulis karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa. Dengan demikian, semakin baik atau semakin tinggi minat baca mahasiswa, maka semakin baik pula kemampuan menulis karya tulis ilmiahnya.

Abstract

Intertextual research is used to see the relationship between two texts, especially the literature that comes fromdifferent background of social and culture, but they have the same theme. However, intertextual research aboutKalimantan’s folklore has not been done yet. Therefore, by using analysis descriptive method and intertextualapproach, this article wants to explore the folklore of “Putri Junjung Buyah” in East Kalimantan and “PutriJunjung Buih” in South Kalimantan, reveal intertextual relationship, and explain article hypogram and thetransformation between these folklore. The result shows that there is a relationship between “Putri JunjungBuyah” and “Putri Junjung Buih”. This relationship exists on the story background, the appearance of a princess,the struggle of getting something, and the marriage. As article hypogram, “Putri Junjung Buih” is regarded as areference to the next folklore, “Putri Junjung Buyah”. “Putri Junjung Buyah” has been transformated in manyways, especially instrinsic elements, that are story background (setting, social, and culture) and the theme.

Abstract

This study discusses about Banjar proverbs as an education media of positivecharacter in daily life with the aim to describe Banjar proverbs that showspositive character education and becomes a treasures for insight aboutproverb. The method used in this analysis is qualitative descriptive method.From the analysis it is found that positive character education is able form to asuperior human, that is (1) to be an Indonesian who has good morals, attitude,and character. (2) To achieve an intelligent and rational society. (3) In thefuture, Indonesian should become an innovative and progress people. (4)Strengthen the spirit of 'we can', that everyone should find solution in everydifficulties. (5) Indonesian should become the true patriots who love the nation,the state, and their homeland.

Abstract

As the text, song is a sistem tanda which has been organized by the codes which has reflected the certain value, behaviour, and believed. As a discourse, song has a complete and sound concept. It as also complete message, cohesive in form and coherence in meaning. This paper is arranged to reveal the discourse of song lyrics “Berita kepada Kawan” by Ebiet G. Ade taken from textual, thatconsists of grammatical and lexical aspect. The method applied are library method, analyticdescriptive, and narative arrangement. The textual aspect analysis has result that gramatical aspect which is applied in the song lyric are reference (personal, demonstrative, and comparative reference), ellipsis, and conjunction. Lexical aspects are repetition (anaphore, epizeuksis), synonymy, collocation, antonymy, and hyponimy.

Abstract

The story in the poems Kuala dan Jajaka (1975) by Masyhuddin Masyhuda interrelated with each other. Revealing the narrative unity of the poems and describing the theme, plot, characterization, and settings become the aim of the paper. The method which is applied is literature, analisys descriptive, and narrative arrangement. The analysis result shows that there is a descriptiveunity in poems which has story about love story of Din and Nur. The theme is about Nur’s devotion to Din. The plot is consist of situation, generating circumstances, rising action, and in the end is climax, without the denouement. The main characters are Din and Nur, the second is Nur’s father, and thethird is Nur’s mother, doctor, and dukun (the traditional healer). The main imagery of character is psychological dimension. Social, place, and time setting is used as the setting of the poems.
