Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of coconut fiber waste as an additive in concrete mixtures for rural road pavements. The construction of road infrastructure and buildings requires materials that are not only strong and durable, but also affordable and environmentally friendly. Coconut fiber was chosen because it is an abundant organic waste, lightweight, and has mechanical properties that can improve concrete performance. The method used in this study is a laboratory experiment with a variation of coconut fiber addition of 5% of the cement weight. The tests carried out include compressive strength tests at the age of 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. The results of the study indicate that the addition of coconut fiber in high amounts tends to reduce the compressive strength of the concrete, not meeting the planned and it can also be seen that there are 3 test objects that are damaged and cannot be tested for compression so that they get a result of 0. and do not support the concept of sustainable development

Abstract

The advancement of technology in society has significantly impacted urban development, particularly in Gorontalo Province, leading to increased mobility and activity among residents. This has resulted in the growth of residential buildings, places of worship, educational institutions, and shopping centers, with structures increasingly expanding vertically due to population growth. This study aims to compare the structural analysis of an 8-story reinforced concrete building using two lateral load-resisting systems: the Shear Wall System and the Special Moment-Resisting Frame (SMRF) System, analyzed using ETABS software. The findings reveal distinct structural behaviors between the two systems. The shear wall system exhibited a maximum inter-story drift of 38.367 mm in the x-direction and 7.840 mm in the y-direction, while the SMRF system showed 23.272 mm (x-direction) and 37.492 mm (y-direction). The most notable difference was observed in the y-direction, where the shear wall system demonstrated significantly lower drift values compared to the SMRF system. This indicates that the shear wall system provides better resistance to lateral displacements in high-rise buildings under similar conditions.

Abstract

This study analyzes the availability and projected needs for social infrastructure in Marisa District for the period 2023-2035. The research methodology uses a quantitative descriptive approach with population projection techniques based on SNI 03-1733-2004 standards on Procedures for Urban Housing Environment Planning. The research findings indicate that for the period 2023-2025, Marisa Subdistrict requires additional educational infrastructure in the form of 8 kindergarten/RA units, 4 elementary school/MI units, and 1 high school/SMK/MA unit, as well as 2 doctor's practice units for the health sector. The 2035 projection indicates a greater need for 16 kindergarten units, 10 elementary/madrasah ibtidaiyah units, 3 senior high school/vocational school/madrasah aliyah units, and 4 doctor's clinics. Meanwhile, religious facilities are deemed adequate until 2035. Development priorities are focused on adding basic and upper secondary education facilities. This study provides strategic references for local governments in formulating policies for the development of social infrastructure, particularly in the fields of education and health. The implementation of the study's findings is expected to optimize development in Marisa Subdistrict, the capital of Pohuwato Regency, making it more effective and structured in line with regional needs.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and evaluate the performance of the irrigation system in the Huludupitango Irrigation Area located in Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency. This area serves 1,054 hectares of agricultural land and plays an important role in supporting local agricultural productivity. However, with the increasing intensity of utilization, the performance of the irrigation system has declined due to insufficient attention to the maintenance of infrastructure and facilities. This study employs the e-PAKSI method (electronic–Asset Management and Irrigation System Performance), an internet-based system for comprehensively evaluating and managing irrigation assets. Based on the evaluation results, the performance score for physical infrastructure such as main structures reached only 9.41%, while the score for distribution channels was 11.19%, with an overall total score of 20.6%. These figures indicate that the irrigation system is in poor condition and requires attention and a comprehensive maintenance program from the government.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an attendance monitoring system using RFID with WhatsApp notifications. The RFID system utilizes radio waves for object identification and tracking, the system also utilizes fonts as a supporting application as api-whatsapp. Application testing is used in 2 ways, blackbox testing and UAT (User Acceptance Test). From the results of the design of the attendance system quality measurement application, it was successfully realized with blackbox testing. Blackbox testing is a test that ensures that the system that has been designed runs properly and correctly, while UAT (User Acceptance Test) testing is the final test to ensure that the software meets user needs. The test results at SMK Negeri 5 Gorontalo show that the attendance system using RFID can read and process data accurately. The system also operates consistently by sending notifications to parents after students scan their attendance.

Abstract

This study aims to model the dynamic system of transportation choices in Gorontalo City, evaluate improvements in public transportation service conditions, and identify interactions among various influencing variables. A quantitative approach using dynamic system modeling is applied, as this method is effective in capturing complex relationships between variables over time. Findings reveal a consistent upward trend in the number of vehicles in Gorontalo City. According to BPS data, the number of vehicles increased from 88,386 units in 2017 to 125,033 units in 2025, with an average annual growth of 4,581 vehicles. The modeling was conducted using the dynamic system approach through Stock and Flow Diagrams (SFD) and Causal Loop Diagrams (CLD). The study successfully captures complex interactions involving population growth, community income, birth rate, education level, and urbanization. Using STELLA software for dynamic system simulation, the analysis demonstrates that these variables have causal relationships and mutual influence, shaping the dynamics of transportation growth in Gorontalo City

Abstract

Land is one of the main factors in the development of a region, Gorontalo City as the capital of Gorontalo province is developing rapidly due to the increase in population, economic, social and cultural activities. The development of Gorontalo City has an impact on the development of the need for land use functions. The objectives of this study are: (1) to map the land functions spread across Dungingi District, Gorontalo City and (2) to identify residential zones, goods and services, wetlands and plantations. The research method used is spatial analysis through the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the distribution of existing land functions and using the overlay method. The results of this study produce a visualization of the distribution of land functions and recommendations for sustainable regional spatial planning. The results of the study are expected to be a reference for local governments in managing effective land use.

Abstract

The Walewangko Stilt House is a form of Minahasan vernacular architecture that is rich in philosophical values, spatial symbolism, and the cultural identity of its people. General studies on the material and construction aspects of Walewangko have been carried out extensively, but in-depth studies on the symbolic meaning, the relationship between spatial form and cultural identity, and strategies are still needed. This study aims to analyze the role of philosophy and cultural identity in the Walewangko Stilt House through a literature study approach. The results of the study show that the Walewangko House not only functions as a residence, but also as a symbol of social status, harmony with nature, and a binding force for the values of mutual cooperation in the Minah community. The preservation of Walewangko needs to be directed towards a revitalization strategy based on community participation to remain relevant amidst the challenges of modernization.

Abstract

This study aims to design a Convention and Exhibition Center in Gorontalo using a regionalist architectural approach that blends local cultural identity with modern technology. This approach is intended to create a multifunctional space that not only facilitates meetings and exhibitions but also becomes an architectural landmark that responds to local climate and sociocultural needs. Through spatial needs analysis, comparative studies, and the application of regionalist design principles, the proposed design integrates meeting, exhibition, and recreational functions in a unified architectural form. The Gorontalo Convention and Exhibition Center is expected to increase tourist visits, strengthen cultural identity, and drive sustainable local economic growth.

Abstract

The Department of Communication and Information Technology (KOMINFO) is a local government agency that provides services in the fields of communication, information technology, cryptography, and statistics for the community. This agency is led by a Head of Department who is responsible to the Regent through the Regional Secretary. This study aims to design the KOMINFO office in Gorontalo City using a contemporary architectural approach. The selected location is in the East City District, Moodu Village. This redesign is motivated by the need for government facilities that support agency performance in the rapidly developing digital era. The application of contemporary architecture aims to create a functional, flexible, and aesthetically pleasing building that reflects KOMINFO's modern identity. Design characteristics include: dynamic geometric forms, environmentally friendly materials, wide openings for natural lighting, and adaptive spatial layout to accommodate advancements in information technology. This approach is expected to produce government facilities that are responsive to future advancements in communication and information technology.
