Abstract

This research focuses on the development of polymer mortar using epoxy as a binder, fly ash as an additive, and nanosilica as nano-filler. The study investigates the effect of nanosilica variations on the mechanical properties of polymer mortar, specifically density and compressive strength. The research used nanosilica content variations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% of the mold volume. Material composition consists of 45% sand, 17.5% epoxy, 17.5% hardener, 20% fly ash, and varying nanosilica percentages. Test results show that increasing nanosilica content decreases the density of polymer mortar from approximately 1880 kg/m³ (0% nanosilica) to 1730 kg/m³ (5% nanosilica). Meanwhile, compressive strength increases up to 2% nanosilica content with an optimum value of 60.31 MPa (an 87.3% increase compared to mortar without nanosilica), then decreases with further addition of nanosilica. The findings suggest that 2% nanosilica represents the optimum content for enhancing the mechanical performance of epoxy-based polymer mortar.

Abstract

Inspector Yazid Road is one of the important routes often used by vehicles in Lahat District, Lahat Regency. Especially in the lower market area of Lahat, various problems often arise in traffic conditions. Activities in the market have a major impact on the increasing number of daily activities and are one of the main factors causing high traffic volumes. Various side obstacles also worsen the performance of the road section. Referring to the problems that have been mentioned, the author tried to conduct a study to assess and analyze the performance of the Inspector Yazid road section using the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). The data collected included road geometry, vehicle flow, side obstacles, and population in Lahat Regency. The data was then analyzed based on the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines. The results of the study showed that peak times occurred on Monday to Friday between 16.00 and 17.00 WIB, with a vehicle volume reaching 1537 smp/hour, side obstacles 1122 kej/hour, and a capacity of 1837 smp/hour. The free flow speed was recorded at 49.92 km/h, travel speed at 13.64 km/h, and the degree of saturation at 0.84, which indicates that traffic on Jalan Inspector Yazid is in an unstable condition and is almost approaching the maximum capacity limit.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of earthquake loads, represented by Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA), on the construction cost of reinforced concrete columns in two-story residential buildings in Indonesia. Using a numerical simulation approach, the research evaluates four PGA scenarios (0.0155g to 0.7172g) to assess their influence on column design specifications (dimensions, reinforcement) and associated costs. Results indicate that higher PGA values significantly increase internal forces, particularly bending moments (Mx and My), which rise up to 4.1 times at PGA 0.7172g compared to the lowest PGA (0.0155g). Axial forces show a more moderate increase. To resist these forces, column dimensions and reinforcement requirements escalate, with material upgrades (e.g., BJTS-420 steel) necessary for high-risk zones. Cost analysis reveals a near-linear relationship between PGA and construction costs, with a 1.94-fold increase at PGA 0.7172g, driven primarily by material expenses (63% of total costs). The study highlights the economic implications of seismic design, demonstrating that while higher PGA demands elevate initial costs, they are justified by enhanced structural safety and long-term risk reduction. These findings underscore the importance of performance-based design to optimize material use without compromising seismic resilience, providing actionable insights for policymakers and engineers in earthquake-prone regions.

Abstract

Indonesia, an archipelago of over 17,000 islands, relies heavily on maritime transportation for inter-regional connectivity, given that its waters constitute over 62% of its total area. Situated on a strategic global trade route, Indonesia is developing its maritime infrastructure through initiatives like the "Tol Laut" program to enhance logistical efficiency and economic growth. Jayapura, with its vital port, plays a significant role in the national sea transportation system, connecting Papua and other Indonesian regions. Data from the Papua Province Statistics Agency (BPS) reveals a substantial increase in passenger traffic at Jayapura Port in December 2024, with a 24.15% rise in departures (23,591). This surge aligns with predictions of peak travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Unlike previous studies focusing on predictive modeling, this research employs a descriptive analysis of historical passenger at Jayapura Port to identify demand trends influenced by seasonal factors, specifically holidays and religious celebrations, without considering economic or demographic variables. Based on what writer do in this topic, the results of data that has been made in the Microsoft Excel application using data from (Central Statistics Agency/BPS) are that the most passengers are in December-January (holidays) and also mid-year holidays. The highest MoM occurs between November and December, while the highest YoY is in the comparison of December 2021 with December 2022, namely (68.99%) due to the transition after Covid-19. Until now, the increase in the use of sea transportation has continued to increase, especially during the seasonal period. So with this research, it is hoped that it can help provide information and policies to improve services during periods of high demand.

Abstract

A Green Building (BGH) is a building that prioritizes the efficient use of resources, is environmentally friendly, and takes into account its impact on human health. Assessing the performance of a Green Building is very important in efforts to achieve sustainable development. One of the main aspects of such an assessment is energy-use efficiency. This study aims to evaluate the energy efficiency performance of the Earthquake-Resistant Core Growing House (RITTA) in Prabumulih City at the technical planning stage. The research employs a research-based approach, with data collection through document studies, assessment instruments based on Green Building criteria, and appropriate data analysis methods. The results of the performance assessment of the Green Building in terms of energy-use efficiency at the technical planning stage show that the Earthquake-Resistant Core Growing House (RITTA) in Prabumulih City obtained an energy efficiency score of 67.39%. Based on the classification set out in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing Regulation No. 21 of 2021, this score places the building in the “Madya” (Intermediate) category. The recommendations from the performance assessment emphasize a combination of passive design strategies (such as ventilation and natural lighting), the selection of high-quality insulating materials, the utilization of renewable energy sources, and compliance with earthquake-resistant building standards. This approach will improve energy efficiency while maintaining the structural safety of the building against earthquake risks.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the bearing capacity of the subgrade in the vicinity of Muhammadiyah University of Jember using the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer Test (DCPT) method as a basis for planning road pavement thickness. The testing was conducted at several locations by recording the cone penetration values due to falling loads (mm/impact) and converting them into California Bearing Ratio (CBR) values through an empirical approach. The test results showed that the average DCP value at point 1 was 76.58 mm/impact with a CBR of 2.19%, while at point 2 it was 79.67 mm/impact with a CBR of 2.08%. Both values indicate that the subgrade is classified as soft to very soft soil with low bearing capacity. Linear regression analysis between the DCP and CBR values produced a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.974 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.948, indicating a very strong and significant relationship between the two parameters. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the DCPT method is effective for quickly and economically determining field CBR values and can serve as a reference in planning pavement thickness at the University of Muhammadiyah Jember.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of slum reduction simulation through a region-based intervention strategy in the 29 Ilir settlement, Palembang City. This research differs from previous studies by simulating slum reduction with a measurable quantitative approach for each sectoral aspect. The analytical descriptive approach method was used to integrate primary data from field surveys, namely the seven Slum Aspects (Aspek Kekumuhan). The data analysis process utilized scoring to determine the severity level of the settlement. The research findings from the simulation highlight that interventions targeting environmental infrastructure—especially road improvements and fire protection systems—have the most substantial impact on slum reduction. This result underscores the effectiveness of a region-based approach in accelerating the improvement of substandard urban settlements. To ensure the long-term sustainability of the improved conditions, strategic follow-up measures are essential as part of a preventive and integrated urban development framework.

Abstract

The characteristics of peat soil are different from clay soil. Physically it has a high water content, large pore number, has organic material content, the presence of fibers in peat soil, while technically it has high compression and low shear strength. This study was to determine the shear strength of peat soil in North Indralaya in Bakung and Tanjung Pule villages. The soil sample used was undisturbed soil. The tool used was a triaxial test tool with CU conditions. The soil sample had a diameter of 35 mm and height of 70 mm with a sample depth of 50 cm. The sampling method used was the block sampling method. From the results of the study, it was found that the greater the isotropic consolidation stress given to the test sample, the greater the deviator stress that arose. The cohesion value was 14–22 kPa, the friction angle was 7°–8°, for effective soil 15–25 kPa. The effective internal friction angle was 7°–9°. Meanwhile, the largest peat soil shear strength value is in Tanjung Pule village with a total shear strength value of 22.636 kPa and an effective shear strength of 26.166 kPa, while Bakung village has a total shear strength of 15.593 kPa and an effective shear strength of 18.273 kPa.

Abstract

Building maintenance is a crucial aspect of a building’s life cycle to ensure its functionality, comfort, and safety for occupants. This study aims to analyze the implementation of building maintenance at Jagakarsa Flats, South Jakarta, as an effort to optimize building performance. The research employed a case study method with a descriptive qualitative approach through online interviews and analysis of the Work Plan and Requirements (RKS), Terms of Reference (KAK), and relevant technical regulations. The findings show that maintenance activities for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil aspects have been carried out in accordance with the RKS, while housekeeping and exterior space aspects have not been fully documented. A gap was also found between field practices and national standards (Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 24/PRT/M/2008), particularly regarding inspection frequency and documentation. In conclusion, the implementation of building maintenance at Jagakarsa Flats is generally effective but requires stronger preventive maintenance strategies and more systematic documentation to ensure sustainable building functionality. This research contributes to improving building maintenance management practices in vertical housing within urban areas.
