Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services in improving students’ politeness at Vocational High School (SMK) X. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design). The research subjects consisted of 17 students who had low levels of politeness based on the pretest results. The instrument used was the Politeness Scale by Dahraini (2020), which has a reliability value of 0.856. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the scores before and after the treatment. The N-Gain score of 0.59 indicates an improvement in the moderate category. The results of this study demonstrate that group counseling services using the problem-solving technique are effective in fostering students’ moral awareness, empathy, and polite behavior within the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a predictive model of freelance employee turnover by integrating digital work behavior data and psychological perceptions, as the high turnover rate in the freelance sector has a significant impact on the sustainability of digital platforms. A total of 150 freelance respondents from various fields in South Sumatra participated in this research. Data were collected through digital activity logs and perception surveys, including measures of job satisfaction, work stress, and affective commitment. Quantitative analysis was conducted using logistic regression and the Decision Tree (C4.5) algorithm to construct a predictive model of turnover intention. The findings indicate that work stress has a significant positive effect on turnover intention, while job satisfaction, affective commitment, and digital communication frequency have significant negative effects. The Decision Tree model demonstrated strong performance with an accuracy of 82% and an AUC of 0.85, identifying work stress and communication frequency as dominant factors in turnover prediction. These results support the Affective Events Theory and Perceived Organizational Support, showing that the combination of psychological and data-analytic approaches can serve as a foundation for developing early-warning systems for turnover in digital workforces. This study contributes to the advancement of psychology-based HR analytics within the growing gig economy in the digital era.

Attention to working conditions and internal dynamics has become an essential aspect as employees increasingly demand positive working conditions and facilitate employee development. Companies need to ensure that workers not only receive adequate facilities but also experience positive values, norms, and patterns of interaction in their daily work routines. Quality of work life and organizational culture play important roles in enhancing employee job satisfaction. This study aims to determine the extent to which these two factors influence job satisfaction levels. The research subjects consisted of 152 employees of PT Mars Lestari Palembang, selected using a simple random sampling method. Data were collected using several scales: a quality of work life scale containing 41 items, an organizational culture scale with 25 items, and a job satisfaction scale with 33 items. The analysis results showed that the coefficient of determination (R Square) was 0.664 with a significance value of 0.00 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that quality of work life and organizational culture significantly affect employee job satisfaction.

Abstract

This study examines how social psychology–based leadership education enhances public communication skills among leaders during disaster emergencies and contributes to social conflict mitigation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and focus group discussions involving local disaster management officials, community leaders, humanitarian volunteers, educators, and social psychologists. The findings reveal that integrating social psychology principles into leadership education strengthens leaders’ ability to understand group dynamics, manage public emotions, and deliver empathetic and credible messages. Empathy-driven and socially aware leadership communication proved effective in reducing social tensions and fostering community trust and collaboration during crises. This research contributes to the theoretical development of transformational leadership in disaster contexts and offers practical implications for leadership training institutions and disaster management organizations to design psychosocially grounded leadership education that supports humanitarian coordination and resilience.

Abstract

The success of a company depends heavily on the performance of its human resources. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that employees have a sense of connection to their work and the company, often referred to as work engagement. Work engagement plays a role in encouraging employees to contribute their best to their work, as employees who are engaged tend to be passionate, enthusiastic, and committed to achieving company goals. The primary objective of this study is to determine how work engagement affects the performance of couriers at Bujang Kurir Pontianak. Using quantitative methods, this study collected data through a psychological scale that measures the performance and work engagement of couriers in the workplace. The research subjects consisted of 30 respondents, representing the entire population. They were selected by employing a saturated sampling technique, in which all members of the population were the subjects of the study. The analysis results based on a simple linear regression test indicate that work engagement has a significant effect on performance. The significance value is 0.001 (p <0.05) indicates that work engagement significantly improves performance. With a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.617, work engagement contributes 61.7% to performance, while the remainder is affected by other contributing factors. Thus, increasing work engagement can directly improve performance.

Self-leadership refers to an individual‘s ability to lead themselves through goal-setting, self- reinforcement, and other self-regulation strategies. Meanwhile, Work- engagement is a positive psychological state characterized by vigor, dedication, and full absorption in one‘s work. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The participants consisted of 214 freelancers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using two instruments: the Self- leadership Questionnaire (SLQ) and the Utrecht Work-engagement Scale (UWES), both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between Self- leadership and Work-engagement, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.718 (p < 0.01). Furthermore, regression analysis showed that Self- leadership contributed 51.6% to the variance in Work-engagement. These findings highlight the vital role of Self-leadership in enhancing Work- engagement, particularly in flexible and autonomous work environments such as freelancing.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has improved work efficiency but may also increase technostress, potentially affecting employee performance. This study aimed to examine the effect of technostress on employee performance in the digital era. A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational and cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved 127 employees selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Digital Stressors Scale (DSS) to measure technostress and the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ) to assess employee performance. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings revealed that technostress did not have a significant effect on employee performance (β = -0.089, p = 0.321 > 0.05), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.008. These results indicate that technostress is not a primary determinant of employee performance. Other factors, such as digital competence, adaptability, and organizational support, are likely to contribute more substantially to employee performance

Abstract

The increasing use of Instagram among university students has encouraged the tendency to engage in social comparison, a process of comparing oneself with others that may influence self-esteem. This study aimed to examine the relationship between social comparison and self-esteem among Instagram users at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Fatah Palembang. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The participants consisted of 300 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) to assess social comparison and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) to measure self-esteem. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between social comparison and self-esteem (r = -0.305; p < 0.01). These findings indicate that the higher the tendency to engage in social comparison, the lower the students' self-esteem. The findings are expected to serve as a basis for promoting greater awareness among students regarding the importance of using social media more wisely to maintain and enhance their self-esteem

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the construction of psychological well-being through local cultural values among communities in Puding Besar District, Bangka Regency, Indonesia, using perspectives from social psychology and cultural sociology. The study employed a qualitative approach with an interpretative phenomenological design. Participants consisted of 15 community members selected through purposive sampling based on their active involvement in local social and cultural activities. Additional key informants included community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and village officials. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), involving coding, theme identification, and interpretation of participants’ lived experiences. The findings revealed five major themes contributing to psychological well-being: local culture as a source of identity and meaning in life, mutual cooperation as a mechanism of psychosocial support, kinship relationships as a foundation of emotional security, togetherness as a promoter of social cohesion, and cultural preservation as a form of self-actualization and sustainable well-being. The study concludes that psychological well-being is a socio-cultural construct shaped through the internalization of local cultural values that strengthen identity, social capital, emotional support, and meaning in life within the community.
