Abstract

Menopause is a physiological phase experienced by women due to declining reproductive function and is often accompanied by physical and psychological changes that may affect quality of life. Women's readiness to face menopause is influenced by various internal and external factors. This study aimed to identify factors associated with women's readiness for menopause based on published research findings. This study employed a literature review method using the PRISMA approach. Article searches were conducted through Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Garuda using keywords related to menopause readiness. The selected articles were original research studies published between 2020 and 2025. A total of 20 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The results showed that factors associated with women's readiness for menopause included knowledge, educational level, family and husband support, psychological factors, health education, and socioeconomic conditions. Knowledge and family support were identified as important factors contributing to better readiness for menopause. Women's readiness for menopause is influenced by multiple interrelated factors. Health education and family support are needed to help women experience menopause with better preparation and positive adaptation.

Abstract

Anemia is a reduction in hemoglobin concentration below an age-, sex-, and physiological-status-specific threshold and may result from nutritional deficiencies, blood loss, inflammation, inherited disorders, or other causes. Menstruating adolescent girls are a priority population for prevention and educational interventions. This study aimed to assess immediate pre-post changes in knowledge and attitudes toward anemia following an e-booklet educational intervention informed by Pender's Health Promotion Model (HPM). A quantitative one-group pretest-posttest study was conducted among 77 adolescent girls at SMK Pasundan 3 Cimahi. Participants were selected from a population of 327 students using proportionate stratified random sampling. Recruitment and consent/assent were followed by a pretest assessment, standardized e-booklet education, and an immediate posttest. Knowledge was categorized as good, fair, or poor, while attitudes were categorized as positive or negative. Data were analyzed using the Marginal Homogeneity and McNemar tests. The proportion of participants with good knowledge increased from 16.9% to 79.2% (absolute change: +62.3 percentage points), while poor knowledge decreased from 58.4% to 2.6% (p < 0.001). Positive attitudes increased from 54.5% to 76.6% (absolute change: +22.1 percentage points; p = 0.005). Knowledge and attitude categories were more favorable immediately after the e-booklet intervention. Because the study lacked a comparison group and assessed outcomes only immediately after the intervention, controlled studies with validated continuous measures and longer follow-up are needed to establish the effectiveness and sustainability of the observed changes.

Abstract

Health behavior is a major determinant of individual and population health and is shaped by multiple interacting factors across different levels of influence. This study aimed to critically analyze the determinants of health behavior and their implications for public health promotion. A critical review was conducted using a transparent study selection process guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA 2020). Electronic searches were performed in PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, resulting in 39 studies published between 2021 and 2026 that met the predefined eligibility criteria. Methodological quality was critically appraised using design-specific assessment tools, and the evidence was examined through analytical and interpretive synthesis. Six major categories of health behavior determinants were identified: individual, social, environmental, cultural and religious, technological, and policy determinants. Individual determinants, particularly health literacy, self-efficacy, knowledge, motivation, and health beliefs, were the most frequently examined. However, the synthesis demonstrated that these determinants did not operate independently but interacted with social relationships, environmental opportunities, cultural contexts, technological conditions, and policy environments. The review identified several theoretical, methodological, and empirical gaps, including the predominance of individual-level perspectives and limited attention to interactions among contextual and structural determinants. These findings highlight the need for multilevel, context-sensitive, and theoretically integrated health promotion strategies that simultaneously address individual capabilities and the broader social, environmental, cultural and religious, technological, and policy conditions shaping health behavior.

Abstract

Malaria remains a public health concern in Indonesia, particularly in Indonesia's New Capital City (IKN) development area, where environmental changes and worker mobility may increase transmission risk. This study aimed to examine the association between knowledge, attitude, risk perception, and malaria control among workers in the IKN area. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 167 workers in the IKN development area, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Data were collected using validated self-administered questionnaires. Chi-square tests were used to examine bivariate associations, and multiple binary logistic regression was performed to identify the strongest factor associated with malaria control behavior. Most respondents had moderate knowledge (46.7%), positive attitudes (57.5%), good risk perception (55.1%), and good malaria control behavior (54.5%). Knowledge (p=0.001), attitude (p=0.001), and risk perception (p=0.001) were significantly associated with malaria control. Multivariate analysis showed that risk perception was the strongest determinant (OR=8.559; 95% CI=3.184-23.004), followed by knowledge (OR=6.309; 95% CI=2.145-18.552) and attitude (OR=4.558; 95% CI=1.732-11.994). Knowledge, attitude, and risk perception were significantly associated with malaria control among IKN workers, with risk perception emerging as the dominant factor. These findings contribute evidence for strengthening workplace-based malaria prevention through contextual health education, routine risk communication, early screening, and environmental control in rapidly developing occupational settings.

Abstract

Adherence to pregnancy supplementation in Indonesia remains low, and eHealth literacy is hypothesized to be associated with supplementation behavior among digitally native pregnant women. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between eHealth literacy and adherence to Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) tablet consumption among millennial and Gen Z pregnant women. This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on 108 pregnant women aged 17–40 years in Depok City, Indonesia, who were smartphone users and had received MMS at public health centers (Puskesmas), selected through purposive sampling. eHealth literacy was measured using the eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS), and MMS tablet adherence was measured using the Simplified Medication Adherence Questionnaire (SMAQ). Data were collected through Google Forms and analyzed using the Chi-square test (α = 0.05) and Spearman rank correlation. A total of 62.0% of respondents had high eHealth literacy (mean eHEALS score: 28.21 ± 5.34), and 76.9% were adherent to MMS tablet consumption. There was a significant positive association between eHealth literacy and MMS tablet adherence (r = 0.549; p = 0.010), with pregnant women who had high eHealth literacy being 2.72 times more likely to be adherent (crude OR = 2.72; 95% CI: 1.28–5.78). These findings indicate an association rather than a causal relationship. Integrating structured digital-based education to strengthen digital health competence, particularly the ability to appraise online information, into antenatal care services may support adherence to the MMS program.

Abstract

Outpatient visits for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Puskesmas Sindangkerta increased from 122 to 269 patients from February 2024 to January 2025, with Diabetes Mellitus service coverage reaching 186.69% of the estimated target. The Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) was designed to improve the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases; however, empirical evidence on its association with blood sugar control in primary care settings in West Bandung Regency remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between Prolanis participation and blood sugar control among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Puskesmas Sindangkerta. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from the Prolanis register and medical records of patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for the period from February 2025 to January 2026. The sample consisted of 55 respondents selected through total sampling and analyzed using the Chi-square test (α = 0.05). The results showed that 37 respondents (67.3%) actively participated in Prolanis, and 39 respondents (70.9%) had controlled fasting blood sugar levels. The Chi-square test showed a significant association (p < 0.001), with an odds ratio (OR) of 10.057 (95% CI: 2.643–38.276) and a prevalence ratio (PR) of 2.22 (95% CI: 1.23–4.03). Active Prolanis participants had a 2.22-fold higher prevalence of controlled blood sugar levels than inactive participants (PR = 2.22; 95% CI: 1.23–4.03). Optimization of Prolanis through digital technology and continuous education is needed to support Diabetes Mellitus control in primary care settings. These findings provide an empirical basis for strengthening Prolanis through active monitoring and continuous education to improve blood sugar control among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in primary care settings

Abstract

Low physical activity among nursing students is a health concern because they are expected to become future health promoters and role models for healthy behavior. Digital health promotion through fitness tracking applications may support students in monitoring and improving their physical activity. This study aimed to examine changes in nursing students' physical activity after using the Strava application as a digital health promotion medium. This study used a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 193 nursing students completed both pretest and posttest measurements. Physical activity was measured using the Indonesian version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF). Participants used the Strava application for two weeks to record and monitor their preferred physical activities. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Before using Strava, most respondents had low physical activity, with 109 students (56.5%) in the low category, 78 students (40.4%) in the moderate category, and 6 students (3.1%) in the high category. After using Strava, the low category decreased to 70 students (36.3%), while the moderate category increased to 109 students (56.5%) and the high category increased to 14 students (7.3%). The median MET-minutes/week increased from 509.00 (IQR = 736.00; Q1-Q3 = 228.50-964.50) at pretest to 842.00 (IQR = 1139.50; Q1-Q3 = 500.50-1640.00) at posttest. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed a significant difference between paired pretest and posttest MET scores (Z = -8.176; p < 0.001; r = 0.59). These findings suggest that Strava may support improvements in physical activity among nursing students. However, because this study used a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group, the findings should be interpreted as an observed association rather than definitive causal evidence.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a major public health concern, particularly among primigravidae. This quantitative descriptive study aimed to describe the distribution of maternal attitudes toward the risks of low birth weight (LBW) and preterm birth among anemic primigravida pregnant women. A descriptive design was employed without evaluating determinants, associations, or causal mechanisms. Data were collected at the Independent Midwifery Practice (TPMB) of Solikah, S.ST, in Tulungagung Regency. Using an accidental sampling approach, 30 anemic primigravida pregnant women in their second and third trimesters were enrolled based on confirmed hemoglobin screening (Hb < 11.0 g/dL). Data were collected using a validated 15-item Likert-scale questionnaire assessing perceptions of the risks of LBW and preterm birth (r = 0.509-0.767; Cronbach's alpha = 0.868). Scores were standardized into T-scores and categorized using a cut-off value of 50. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that 16 respondents (53.3%) had negative attitudes (T-score < 50), whereas 14 respondents (46.7%) had positive attitudes (T-score ≥ 50) toward anemia-related pregnancy risks. Because cognitive variables were not measured, these findings describe only the observed distribution of maternal attitudes within the sampled facility and should not be interpreted as indicators of maternal knowledge, awareness, or understanding. This study received ethical approval from the Health Research Ethics Committee (No. 135/KEPK-STIKesHAH/EC/I.DIII/2025).

Abstract

Accessibility of health services is an important aspect in providing quality primary health services at the Health Center. However, limited infrastructure, human resources, and service management continue to pose challenges to improving service quality. This study aims to analyze strategies to improve service quality to improve the accessibility of health services at the Pulo Brayan Health Center. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques, consisting of the Head of the Health Center, general practitioners, and patients as service users. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the strategy to improve service quality is implemented through the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), the use of the JKN Mobile application to facilitate registration, the division of tasks of health workers according to competencies, the provision of priority services for vulnerable groups, and the strengthening of therapeutic communication and patient education. Even so, there are still a number of challenges, such as limited facilities and health workers, low public awareness of routine health check-ups, communication barriers, and relatively long waiting times for services. This study concludes that the implementation of integrated service strategies supported by the use of digital technology and patient-centered services, contributes to increased accessibility of healthcare services. However, further strengthening of facilities, human resources, and public education is still needed to optimize the quality of services at the Health Center.

Abstract

Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) supports thermoregulation, breastfeeding, and physiological adaptation in low birth weight (LBW) infants. This study evaluated changes in body weight following a seven-day KMC program in the Neonatal Unit of Bayu Asih General Hospital, Purwakarta, from January to February 2026. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used with total sampling of 15 stable LBW infants. Most infants were born at 35 or 36 weeks of gestation (5 infants [33.3%] in each gestational age group). Mothers performed nurse-supervised KMC for 1–2 hours daily. Infant body weight was measured using a calibrated digital scale before the intervention and on day 7. The mean baseline body weight was 1,625.0 ± 152.4 g, with a median of 1,550 g. After KMC, the mean body weight increased to 1,805.3 ± 169.9 g, with a median of 1,725 g. The mean weight gain was 180.3 g, the median difference was 175 g, the relative increase was 11.3%, and the average daily weight gain was approximately 25 g/day. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test demonstrated a statistically significant difference between pre- and post-intervention body weight (p = 0.001). An exact paired 95% confidence interval and rank-based effect size could not be calculated because the retained analysis output did not include the standard deviation of the paired differences or the Wilcoxon Z statistic. Kangaroo Mother Care was associated with short-term body weight gain in stable LBW infants. However, causal interpretation should be made cautiously because of the absence of a control group and the potential influence of unmeasured feeding practices and other co-interventions.
