Abstract

This study investigates the challenges and strategies in teaching English to non-English majors, specifically within business and accounting programs at Institut Teknologi Bisnis AAS Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research explores the perspectives of both instructors and students to identify key difficulties and effective practices. The study reveals that student motivation is a significant challenge, with many students perceiving English as peripheral to their main field of study. To address this issue, instructors have integrated business-related content into the English curriculum, enhancing relevance and engagement. Additionally, the research highlights the diversity in student proficiency levels, which necessitates the use of differentiated instruction and peer-assisted learning to cater to varying needs. The integration of technology and blended learning approaches has been beneficial but also presents challenges related to access and instructor proficiency. Institutional support for resources, collaboration between language and subject-matter experts, and continuous professional development are crucial for overcoming these challenges. The findings offer insights into improving English language education for non-English majors and provide recommendations for educators and institutions. Keywords: English language teaching, non-English majors, business and accounting programs, blended learning

Abstract

This study examines the role of abusive supervision and gender on cyberloafing with emotional exhaustion as a mediating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with a questionnaire data collection method. This research was conducted on employees at maternity clinics in Purwokerto, totaling 140 respondents out of 212 employees. The sampling technique used was quota sampling by setting a quota based on the proportion of each maternity clinic. This research was conducted using Partial Least Square analysis. The results of this analysis calculate the percentage of the results of the demographic conditions of all employee respondents at maternity clinics in Purwokerto so that the calculations are evenly distributed. As a result, 140 respondents were collected from the sampling. By using a significant level of 5%, the results of the analysis calculation prove that Abusive Supervision has a significant positive effect on Cyberloafing and is dominated by female employees. Abusive Supervision has a significant positive effect on Emotional Exhaustion and is dominated by female employees. Emotional Exhaustion has a significant positive effect on Cyberloafing and is not influenced by gender. Meanwhile, the mediation results show that Emotional Exhaustion cannot mediate the relationship between Abusive Supervision and Cyberloafing and is not influenced by gender. The results of this study indicate that supervisors who treat employees harshly will make employees engage in cyberloafing behavior, but employees can control their emotions. Abstract

In the course of weekly fabric procurement from suppliers, Cahaya Sandang frequently encounters challenges in determining the optimal quantity of fabrics to be ordered. The uncertainty surrounding order quantities has led to a loss of consumer confidence for Cahaya Sandang. To address this issue, a research initiative was undertaken, focusing on the development of an information system for forecasting fabric sales at the Cahaya Sandang Store. The fabric sales forecasting system was designed using Python, incorporating various forecasting methodologies such as moving average, exponential smoothing, linear regression, Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), and Long Short Memory Term (LSTM). These designated forecasting methods are exclusively applied to predict cloth sales for the subsequent week. The determination of forecasting methods was based on the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) values derived from the existing forecasting models. The findings affirm the efficacy of the five employed methods, demonstrating a maximum error value below 10% for the prediction of Cahaya Sandang fabric sales. By implementing this fabric sales forecasting system, the decision-making process regarding fabric orders from suppliers is expected to become more streamlined and targeted.

Abstract

There are many factors that can affect inflation, both internal and external. The rate of inflation is also influenced by other factors such as increased economic activity that drives an increase in aggregate demand not matched by an increase in aggregate supply due to structural economic constraints. This research aims to determine the influence of money supply, interest rates, and exchange rates on inflation in Indonesia, both partially and simultaneously. This is a quantitative study using secondary (time series) data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Bank Indonesia, and the Ministry of Finance over a period of 31 years, from 1993 to 2023. The data analysis technique used is the Multiple Linear Regression Equation. The results of this study indicate that partially, money supply and interest rates have a positive and significant effect on inflation in Indonesia, while the exchange rate does not have a significant effect on inflation in Indonesia. Simultaneously, it is found that money supply, interest rates, and exchange rates together influence inflation in Indonesia.
