Abstract

This research describes the educators serve as facilitators who can enhance the efficacy of the learning process. The success is contingent upon the teacher's proficiency in understanding students, the curriculum, instructional methodologies, and assessments to effectively convey scientific information. Consequently, educators must enhance their quality and proficiency to achieve the objectives of Indonesian national education, namely to cultivate the nation's well-being. The National Science Teacher Association delineates three tiers for the preparation of science educators, encompassing biology instructors: preservice (student teacher candidates), novice teachers (induction), and professional teachers. Professional educators must be adequately prepared from the outset, even as student teacher candidates. Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) assists educators in enhancing the quality of classroom learning. This research uses quantitative descriptive research that captures information about the cognitive abilities of TPACK and authentic assessments of prospective biology teacher students at Medan State University and the ability to integrate TPACK in the implementation of ISFI II

Abstract

This study aims to identify the species composition, abundance, and diversity of macrozoobenthos in the Waters of Mangrove Forest Dusun XIV Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict, North Sumtra. Field survey methods and purposive sampling techniques were carried out by taking macrozoobenthos samples using standardized quadrats along randomly placed stations in the mangrove forest. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Simpson's dominance index. The results of research on the diversity of macrozoobenthos species obtained 17 species with 3 phyla, 3 classes, 8 orders, 16 families, and 16 genus. Measurement of physical and chemical factors of water obtained an average temperature of 28-31°C; average pH 7.2-7.6; average salinity 22-28°C; and the substrate is mud and silty sand. The type of macrozoobenthos that dominates in the area is Gastropoda. Macrozoobenthos diversity index value (H') 2.3905 at station I, 2.2567 at station II, and 2.1379 at station III, categorized as moderate. Based on these results, the Mangrove Forest Waters Area Dusun XIV Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict is still within the threshold of good quality standards for the life of macrozoobenthos biota, which means that the environmental conditions are still not too polluted. This study makes an important contribution to the understanding of mangrove forest ecology and the importance of conservation and management of mangrove ecosystems as an integral part of the ecosystem

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Antipsychotic drugs are the treatment of choice for patients with schizophrenia. Clozapine is an atypical antipsychotic with unique efficacy in treatment-resistant schizophrenia. However, genetic variations in CYP1A2 can influence the differences in the activity of this enzyme, which in turn can affect the metabolism of clozapine and the response to treatment. This review aims to examine the impact of CYP1A2 genetic variations on clozapine metabolism in patients with schizophrenia. This review is prepared using the narrative literature review method, literature search was conducted through PubMed over the past ten years (2014-2024) using relevant keywords. The findings indicate that CYP1A2 genetic variations *1F is an ultrarapid metabolizer whose activity is strengthened by the presence of cigarettes, while *1C and *1D shows a decrease in CYP1A2 enzyme metabolism. This review underscores the importance of considering genetic factors, particularly CYP1A2, in tailoring treatment plans for schizophrenia patients

Abstract

Soybeans are the main food crop commodity in Indonesia which is ranked third after rice and corn. The aim of this research is to determine the characteristics of soybean varieties that are able to grow and produce due to shade stress. The research was carried out from November 2023 to February 2024. The research used a Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK). with the first 2 treatment factors Shading Stress, including P0 = No shade, P1 = TBM and P2 = TM. The second factor is the variation in soybean varieties consisting of six levels including (V1) Mutiara 1, (V2) Agromulyo, (V3) Dena 1, (V4) Dena 2, (V5) Edamame and (V6) Devon 1. Observed parameters include plant height, leaf area index, number of pithy pods and harvest age. Research data was analyzed using the ANOVA variance analysis procedure to determine whether there was an effect of each treatment. The results showed that the effect of TBM shading (P1) could increase plant height (48.18 cm), and treatment without shading (P0) increased the number of pithy pods (45.66 pods). The effect of varietal variations shows that the best performance is the Edamame (V5) variety on plant height (49.64 cm), Dena 2 (V4) produces the highest number of pods (40.62 pods), and Agromulyo (V2) produces the highest harvest age (83 days). Analysis of shade and various varieties that were carefully assessed on the growth and yield of soybean production showed that it had no real influence on all the parameters observed.

Abstract

Widely cultivated, green okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is a highly profitable horticultural crop. In contrast, okra production has not shown any significant improvement. This study observed the growth of green okra (A. esculentus L.) plants using gamma rays. In this investigation, the nonfactorial Randomised Block Design (RBD) method with three replications was implemented to investigate the effect of gamma radiation on green okra (A. esculentus L.) seeds. The study examined six levels of gamma radiation: 0 Gy (control), 100 Gy, 300 Gy, 500 Gy, 700 Gy, and 900 Gy. The findings indicated that plants demonstrated a survival rate at a dose of 0 Gy. At the same age, the irradiation dose of 700 Gy resulted in the highest number of leaves, whereas the control dose of 0 Gy resulted in the lowest number of leaves. The irradiation treatment dose of 500 Gy exhibited the least flowering time, while the control dose of 0 Gy exhibited the fastest flowering time. The slowest flowering time was observed at 900 Gy. This investigation determined that, compared to other radiation levels, gamma radiation at 2 WAP exhibited substantial radiation levels. This study demonstrates the critical role of gamma radiation at 2 WAP in okra production. The results of this study can be used as a prerequisite for ensuring the highest quality offspring from the effects of gamma radiation

Abstract

Stunting, one of the malnutrition in the prenatal period up to the first two years of life and often exacerbated by recurrent gastrointestinal infections after birth. This study explores from various databases including Pubmed, Scopus, Science Direct, Sage Journal, Springer Link, with keywords: "stunting, gut microbiota, toddler". In this study, 10 open access articles published in 2016-2024 were used as sources of information using PRISMA 2020 guideline. It was found that the presence of gut microbiota plays a role in stunting. Gastrointestinal infections have specific mechanisms that can lead to impaired growth and postnatal growth. Deficiency of non-pathogenic gut microbiota is considered to be the main cause. Changes in gut bacterial composition in children under five are associated with increased gastrointestinal frequency, which in turn leads to chronic growth disorders.
