Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease often accompanied by cardiovascular complications, one of which is hypertension. Controlling HbA1c and LDL cholesterol levels is a crucial component of diabetes mellitus management, aiming to reduce the risk of these complications. This study aimed to analyze the association between HbA1c control and LDL cholesterol control with systolic blood pressure control in diabetes mellitus patients at the Tejakula II Community Health Center. This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects were registered Diabetes Mellitus patients receiving services at the Tejakula II Community Health Center. The sample size of this research was 47 participants. Data on HbA1C, LDL cholesterol, and systolic blood pressure were obtained from patient medical records. Data were analyzed bivariately using appropriate statistical tests and odds ratio calculations. The results showed that HbA1C and LDL cholesterol control were not significantly associated with systolic blood pressure control (p > 0.05). The model explained 13.4% of the variation in systolic blood pressure control (Nagelkerke R² = 0,134). Although the odds ratios suggested a tendency toward a higher risk of uncontrolled systolic blood pressure among patients with uncontrolled HbA1C and LDL levels, these associations were not statistically significant. However, patients with uncontrolled HbA1C and LDL cholesterol levels had a higher risk of developing uncontrolled systolic blood pressure. Diabetes Mellitus management needs to be carried out comprehensively and multifactorially in primary health care facilities.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder caused by impaired insulin secretion or ineffective insulin function, resulting in persistent hyperglycemia and an increased risk of long-term complications. Dietary management is an important component of diabetes treatment because proper eating habits help maintain blood glucose levels and prevent complications. However, many patients still experience difficulties in following dietary recommendations, which can negatively affect glycemic control. Recent developments in diabetes management emphasize the role of behavioral and psychological factors in improving self-care, particularly self-efficacy. Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s confidence in performing behaviors necessary to achieve desired health outcomes. Although previous studies have mainly focused on pharmacological therapy and metabolic outcomes, limited evidence has examined the relationship between self-efficacy and dietary adherence in primary healthcare settings in Indonesia. Therefore, understanding this relationship is important for developing effective nursing and behavioral interventions. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and dietary adherence among patients with diabetes mellitus at the Ciracas District Health Center, East Jakarta. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in May 2025 involving 66 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Self-efficacy was measured using the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES), while dietary adherence was assessed using the Perceived Dietary Adherence Questionnaire (PDAQ). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between self-efficacy and dietary adherence (p = 0.001). Patients with higher self-efficacy demonstrated better compliance with dietary recommendations, indicating that greater confidence supports effective diabetes self-management behaviors in daily life.

Abstract

Sexual violence against children is a serious issue that impacts their psychological, social, and cognitive development. The lack of early sexual education, coupled with societal views that consider this topic taboo, increases children's vulnerability to becoming victims. With technological advancement, educational media in the form of video games has emerged as an engaging and promising alternative to enhance children's knowledge of sexual violence prevention. Objective: To develop an educational video game and evaluate its effectiveness as a tool for preventing sexual violence among elementary school children. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach without a control group. A total of 90 students from grades 3 to 5 were selected through stratified random sampling. Research instruments included pretest and posttest knowledge questionnaires, as well as a media feasibility assessment questionnaire. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed that the average knowledge score increased from 7.01 before the intervention to 10.61 after the intervention. The results indicated a significant improvement in children's knowledge after using the educational media (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the feasibility assessment revealed that the video game was rated as "highly feasible" by users as an educational tool. The educational video game is both effective and feasible as a tool for teaching sexual violence prevention to elementary school children. It also supports parents and teachers in delivering sensitive material through an enjoyable and interactive approach.

Abstract

Bullying often occurs during adolescence, for secondary reasons, such as joking about body shape or other things. Changes that occur during adolescence can cause emotional shifts, often giving rise to indecision and a sense of loss of control. Someone affected by bullying will feel low self-esteem. One therapeutic modality that can be applied is Cognitive Therapy. This cognitive therapy aims to develop rational thinking patterns by changing irrational thinking patterns that often lead to behavioral disorders into rational thinking based on facts and actual information. This study aims to determine the effect of cognitive therapy on the self-esteem of adolescent victims of bullying. The methodology used was a Quasi-experimental pre-post test with an intervention package providing cognitive therapy to the intervention group. The self-esteem instrument used a questionnaire from Stuart's theory that assessed cognitive, affective, social, and physical aspects. Cognitive therapy significantly impacted the self-esteem of adolescent victims of bullying, with a p-value of 0.005. This suggests that cognitive therapy is essential for developing and implementing psychiatric nursing care for adolescent victims of bullying to improve their self-esteem. This study demonstrates that cognitive therapy can significantly improve the self-esteem of adolescent victims of bullying. Cognitive therapy has been shown to improve low self-esteem in adolescent victims of bullying.

Abstract

Patients with terminal illnesses frequently struggle with anxiety, chronic pain, and sleep disorders, which can seriously lower their quality of life. ARTIKU (Integrated Relaxation Audio) is a non-pharmacological approach to innovative integrated audio relaxation therapy that combines murotal, guided imagery, and the five-finger relaxation technique. This study aims to explore the preliminary effects of ARTIKU therapy on rest quality in palliative care patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest. As many as 34 palliative patients were selected using purposive sampling. The ARTIKU music therapy was administered for three consecutive days. Measurements were taken pre-post intervention using the ARTIKU questionnaire, which measured pain level, sleep duration, and anxiety. A paired sample t-test was used to analyze the data. The median values for anxiety and pain levels decreased significantly, from 2.00 to 1.00 (Z = -5.11; p < 0.001) and from 5.00 to 2.50 (Z = -4.49; p < 0.001), respectively. On the other hand, patients' sleep duration increased significantly from 4.00 to 5.50 hours (Z = -4.95; p < 0.001). The ARTIKU therapy intervention is highly effective in alleviating pain and anxiety, as well as enhancing sleep duration among palliative patients. ARTIKU therapy demonstrates preliminary effects in improving rest quality among palliative patients, showing significant improvements in pain, sleep duration, and anxiety. These findings suggest that ARTIKU has potential as a non-pharmacological intervention and warrant further investigation through randomized controlled trials with larger sample sizes and longer intervention duration to confirm its effectiveness.
