Abstract

Introduction: Stunting in Indonesia is a serious health problem, with a prevalence of 24.1%. This condition risks threatening the quality of life of the nation's next generation due to linear growth disorders caused by malnutrition and inadequate nutritional intake. One of the main causes of high stunting rates is the lack of maternal knowledge about stunting itself. Therefore, increasing mothers' knowledge about stunting is very necessary, and one of the effective methods is to use visual-based educational media. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effect of card challenge, a visual-based educational media, on increasing maternal knowledge about stunting. Methods: This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a one group pre-post test design method. The sample used in this study is 50 mothers who have toddlers. Before and after the intervention in the form of card challenge, mothers' knowledge of stunting was measured and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test to assess significant changes. Results: The results showed that there was a significant increase in maternal knowledge after being given a card challenge game with a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the intervention using card challenge games has succeeded in significantly increasing mothers' understanding of stunting. Conclusions: Card challenge games have proven to be effective in increasing mothers' knowledge about stunting, providing a positive impact on stunting prevention efforts. This study emphasizes the importance of a creative approach in health education that can be accepted and applied by the wider community, especially for mothers with toddlers. This intervention is expected to be a broader model in accelerating the reduction of stunting rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

The elderly population is particularly vulnerable to various health issues, including sleep disturbances and hypertension. Poor sleep quality can lead to increased blood pressure by stimulating the sympathetic nervous system and elevating stress hormones. This study explored the relationship between sleep quality and blood pressure among elderly women with hypertension. This study uses a quantitative method with an analytical descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling with a sample of 67 elderly women with hypertension. The instruments used were the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire to measure sleep quality and a digital sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure. The data analysis in this study used the Chi-Square test. Most of the elderly had poor sleep quality as many as 50 elderly (74.6%) and degree II hypertension as many as 44 elderly people (65.7%). The results of statistical tests showed a significant relationship between sleep quality and blood pressure in elderly women with hypertension, as evidenced by obtaining a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05).Poor sleep quality in people with hypertension can lead to memory impairment, cognitive abilities, and decreased health. It is hoped that the role of the family and the community health center will be to carry out monitoring and evaluation and motivate the elderly to control blood pressure and sleep regularly.

Abstract

Pneumonia is the most common inflammatory lung disease in children. One of the symptoms of pneumonia is an increased respiratory rate and decreased oxygen saturation due to alveolar inflammation, which makes it difficult for the body to obtain oxygen. A non-pharmacological therapy that can be applied is tongue-blowing play based on the principles of Pursed Lips Breathing (Pursed Lips Blowing Play). This study aims to determine the effect of pursed lips blowing play on reducing respiratory rate and increasing oxygen saturation in children with pneumonia. The research design used was a Quasi-Experimental study with a pre- and post-test without a control group. The study was conducted at Pamboang Community Health Center with a sample size of 15 respondents, selected using purposive sampling. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed using the Paired t-test and Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant effect on changes in respiratory rate and increased oxygen saturation after tongue-blowing play, with p-values of 0.001 and 0.001, respectively. Based on these findings, pursed lips blowing play is recommended as a nursing intervention for pneumonia patients.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has led to significant changes in the provision of nursing care. This study examines nurses' experiences with using Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) for nursing care documentation. This study aims to explore the experiences of nurses using EMR in documenting nursing care. This qualitative study uses a phenomenological approach involving 10 nurses, including the head of the room, team leader, and implementing nurses. Participants were selected using purposive sampling techniques, with the following criteria: nurses who perform nursing care documentation using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), nurses working in inpatient, outpatient, emergency (IGD), and intensive care units, nurses with a work experience of at least 2 years, and nurses who are willing to participate. The study was conducted at a private hospital in Pekanbaru. Data were collected through interviews and analysed using thematic analysis, employing the Colaizzi method. Result: The analysis revealed three themes: the benefits of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in nursing services, supporting factors for the implementation of EMR, and inhibiting factors for the implementation of EMR. Based on the study results, it can be concluded that nurses feel the effectiveness and efficiency of EMR in documenting. However, during its implementation, there are still obstacles that require attention from hospital management. Thus, providing health services becomes optimal and efficient for patients and health workers.

Abstract

Ineffective discharge planning results in discontinuity of patient care at home. This condition worsens patient outcomes, leading to patients returning to health services with the same medical history or with new and more severe complications. This study aims to explore the experience of healthcare workers and patients in implementing discharge planning for heart failure patients. This study employed a phenomenological design with a qualitative, interpretative approach. The participants consisted of 17 individuals: ten health workers from a private hospital in Pekanbaru, two heart specialists, three nurses, two pharmacists, three nutritionists, and seven patients with heart failure who were planning to return home. Participant recruitment was conducted using a purposive sampling method. Data collection was through in-depth interviews, and data analysis used the Colaizzi analysis stages. Four themes are interrelated with the studied phenomena: the information received by patients regarding discharge planning, specific education for heart failure patients, the challenges faced by healthcare workers in completing the discharge planning form, and the important components of discharge planning for heart failure patients. The experiences of healthcare workers and patients in implementing discharge planning in this study reveal that there are still inadequacies that concern both healthcare workers and patients. The themes identified in this study can contribute to the development of discharge planning forms for heart failure patients. Therefore, this study on healthcare services suggests that it may reduce the recurrence rate of heart failure in patients.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical phase for mothers, during which the emergence of postpartum blues can significantly affect emotional stability and maternal mental health. Alongside traditional information sources, social media has increasingly become a platform for parenting education. However, its role in influencing maternal psychological well-being remains unclear, particularly within community healthcare settings such as Puskesmas Cipayung in East Jakarta. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between the use of social media as a source of parenting information and the incidence of postpartum blues among mothers attending the Cipayung Sub-district Health Center. Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed involving 63 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling between March and May 2024. Data were collected using structured questionnaires assessing social media use for parenting information and postpartum blues symptoms. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test to determine the association between variables. Results: The findings revealed a significant relationship between the use of social media as a parenting information source and the incidence of postpartum blues (p = 0.001, < 0.05). Mothers who frequently accessed social media for parenting guidance were more likely to experience mild to moderate postpartum blues. The study highlights that social media use for parenting information is significantly associated with the occurrence of postpartum blues. These results underscore the importance of integrating digital literacy and psychosocial support into nursing care to promote maternal mental well-being during the postpartum period.

Abstract

Anxiety and difficulty concentrating are often experienced by first-year college students, especially those with introverted personalities, poor coping mechanisms, low adaptability, and an inability to manage stress. These conditions can impact their academic performance. This is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. A sample of 57 students in the Applied Undergraduate Study Program, Department of Nursing, Poltekkes Jakarta III, was selected through purposive sampling. Data were analysed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed that the average academic anxiety score before the intervention was 55.95, while after the intervention it decreased to 41.00, with a p-value of 0.001. These findings indicate that binaural beats are effective in reducing academic anxiety levels in nursing students at Poltekkes Kemenkes Jakarta III, thus offering an alternative approach to addressing students' academic anxiety.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is classified as one of the main causes of poor health in the world. One of the populations most at risk and increasing in number is the elderly. To achieve successful control of diabetes mellitus, one of them depends on dietary compliance. Dietary adherence is an important factor to keep blood sugar stable and not cause complications. This study aims to determine the factors associated with dietary compliance with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the elderly in the Pisangan Health Center area. This type of research is observational analytics with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples in this study was 70 respondents taken using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments in this study used demographic questionnaires, influencing factors, and PDAQ (Perceived Dietary Adherence Questionnaire). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between education, knowledge, and self-motivation with DM diet adherence. Meanwhile, there was no significant association between sex, occupation, family support, and the role of health workers with DM dietary adherence. In this study, there were 24 respondents with low diet adherence, and 46 respondents with high diet adherence. Researchers hope that health workers can pay more attention to groups that have not been exposed to information related to DM and DM diet management and can pay attention again to other factors that are less related to dietary compliance in the elderly.

Abstract

Febrile seizures are prevalent from 3 to 5 years of age. A sudden increase in body temperature is one of the causes of seizures. The role of parents is very influential in managing febrile seizures in children. Adequate parental knowledge can effectively manage febrile seizures. Effective first treatment of febrile seizures in children can prevent post-febrile seizure trauma. Increased knowledge can be achieved through health education, one of the effective health education media is audiovisual media. Analyze the effect of audiovisual-based health education on parents’ knowledge about the first treatment of febrile seizures in children. The type of research used is quantitative with a Quasi-experimental design, a non-randomized pretest, and a posttest with a control group design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The sample size used was 82 respondents (41 intervention group and 41 control group) and data analysis using the Wilcoxon signed rank test. Data analysis was carried out with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test where the average knowledge score before the audiovisual-based health education intervention with a mean knowledge score was 11.73, while the mean score of knowledge after the intervention was 14.80 with a p-value 0f 0.000 which proves the data is significant. There is a difference in parents’ knowledge about the first treatment of febrile seizures in children before and after being given an audiovisual-based health education intervention.
