Abstract

Johannine Literature is known for its rich theological perspective. Grounding from his theological standpoints, he draws his ethical principles. One of the disputes in this book is whether John has explicit or implicit ethical implications for his teaching. The methodology used in this paper is a literature review using exegetical sources. This paper focuses on one of John’s teachings, “abiding in” and its ethical principles.  The concept of “abiding in” portrays the identity and authority of Jesus related to His Father, the status and fellowship between Jesus and His disciples, as a mark of true or false disciples, and as a basis to live as Jesus lived. Deriving from this concept, abiding in Jesus is the ground of ethical principles: living in the light, loving others, and obeying the truth.

Abstract

Modern developments have had a significant influence on the world of education, for example technology-based learning innovations. However, technological developments have both positive and negative impacts. An examination based on a Biblical perspective is sufficient to answer the problems that arise because it is important to view the presence of technology as God's providence that must be used wisely. If not reviewed biblically, the presence of technology becomes a big problem in learning. The purpose of writing this paper is to present a study of Christian philosophy and theology regarding learning innovations based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Educational innovation based on AI technology in the perspective of Biblical Christian insights using the research method of literature review. Hopefully God's providence will be manifested in learning practice that glorify God and the world's philosophical views will not shake Christian faith. The results of the discussion show the philosophical views and Christian theology that students will get from teachers who invite students to properly examine AI technology-based learning innovations. The conclusion is that technology-based learning innovations are designed by Christian teachers in accordance with God's will. Suggestions that Christian teachers can make in learning are to deepen their mastery of knowledge, skills and correct attitudes regarding technological developments.

Abstract

Christian education views critical thinking skills as an important aspect because, through critical thinking skills, students are encouraged to differentiate between correct and incorrect information. Critical thinking skills can also guide students to correct knowledge and be able to prove these truths in the classroom. Critical thinking skills in Indonesia are still very low. This is proven by the low PISA results achieved by Indonesia in 2018. Therefore, one way to develop critical thinking skills is to apply the Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model. The Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model can encourage students' critical thinking skills because students are continuously involved in learning to analyze and solve problems. This learning model can also stimulate students' curiosity about something so that students will take the initiative to look for facts and data related to the problem being discussed. This learning model is still relatively new and has been implemented in several middle and upper secondary schools. However, it is still not widely implemented, especially at the elementary school level because it is relatively new. This research aims to examine the importance of the Inquiry Learning Model in developing elementary students' critical thinking skills. The author uses a qualitative descriptive research method

Abstract

Shepherd leadership is often understood as a form of leadership that takes place within the Church. However, it can also be effectively implemented in other settings, such as schools. In fact, schools may be one of the most ideal environments for shepherd leadership, as they require significant daily interaction among principals, teachers, and students. Shepherd leadership is especially important in schools because a principal cannot achieve the ultimate goals of education alone. It is therefore critical to have teachers who share the school's vision and mission. The purpose of this study is to explore in greater depth how shepherd leadership can transform teachers' understanding of a Christian worldview in their teaching, and how this transformation relates to discipleship in Christ. This research collects data to reveal how shepherd leadership is implemented in the school, how teachers respond to the principal’s leadership, and how their worldviews are transformed as a result.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has profoundly impacted social interactions and individual behaviours, particularly among students who increasingly disregard traditional social norms, contributing to a significant decline in digital ethics. This research, employing a literature review methodology, critically examines the transformative role that Christian education can play in restoring digital ethics among young people. It highlights the crucial function of Christian teachers, who are envisioned not just as educators but as mentors guiding students towards Christ’s redemption. The aim is to teach students to respond ethically in their digital interactions as a reflection of their redemption. The findings suggest that teachers who are deeply committed to Christ and who recognize that students, though marred by sin, are still made in the image of God, can effectively nurture ethical behaviour. This study emphasizes the vital importance of integrating Biblical truths as the foundational framework for ethical education in the digital age, proposing that such integration can equip students to navigate the complex ethical landscapes of modern digital environments.

Abstract

The goal of Christian education is to enable students to connect theological concepts with their everyday lives and to apply these concepts through their actions and behavior. To achieve this, it is essential to cultivate students' critical thinking skills. However, a common challenge in the learning process is students' lack of initiative to think critically, which is often influenced by the teaching methods employed. One method that shows promise in fostering critical thinking is experiential learning. This paper aims to explore, from an epistemological perspective, how experiential learning can serve as an effective method for developing students' critical thinking abilities. The study adopts a literature review approach. Human beings are endowed by God with the capacity for reason as an expression of His grace. Epistemological concepts can support the development of this reasoning ability. However, true knowledge of God can only be attained when students base their critical thinking on the truth of God’s Word as the ultimate source of knowledge. Through experiential learning, teachers can foster student awareness by providing meaningful stimuli. This method also enables students to better fulfill cultural mandates through personal experience. Future research should include more concrete examples from relevant literature and a deeper exploration of the epistemological foundations of critical thinking.

Abstract

This study explores the complexity of leadership succession and regeneration in a private Christian school in West Jakarta and possible ways to navigate the challenges, as the school has experienced a high turnover rate in its leadership in the past five years. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research collected the data through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Principals as well as heads of schools participated and the research results revealed a discrepancy between the educational philosophy of Christian schools and the practices of leadership succession and regeneration, lacking a specific system or strategy. Moreover, there is no formal succession and inadequate spiritual mentoring for the school leader candidates. Therefore, considering that succession is also a spiritual mandate, this study offers a contextual and values-based pathway for leadership regeneration, which includes early-stage talent mapping, structured leadership development, spiritual mentorship, and alignment with the school’s Christian philosophy to ensure the continuity of biblically grounded leadership.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an instrument to measure adolescents’ perceptions of the role of parents as faith educators in Christian families, based on the principles found in Deuteronomy 6:6–9. In facing the challenges of the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) era, the family—especially parents—plays a critical role in instilling strong faith values from an early age. This research applied a theoretical development method that included constructing a blueprint, drafting item statements, validating content through expert judgment, and testing the instrument on 260 university students. Content validity was analyzed using Aiken’s V index, while item validity was examined through the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. All 26 items were found to be valid (r > 0.138), and the instrument demonstrated excellent reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.976. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of 0.942 indicated that the data were suitable for further factor analysis. Based on the validation and reliability results, two items were removed, resulting in a final instrument with 24 valid and reliable statements. This instrument can be effectively used to assess adolescents' perceptions of their parents’ role in faith education. Future studies are recommended to conduct exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to strengthen the theoretical and structural foundation of the measurement model.
