Abstract

Eggplant production in Indonesia remains relatively low and has not been able to meet market demands. Long-term use of inorganic fertilizers has led to declining organic matter content in soil, soil degradation, and environmental pollution. To address these issues, agricultural waste such as rice husk can be converted into charcoal or biochar to improve soil quality degraded by excessive use of chemical fertilizers. In addition to biochar as organic material, other organic inputs like liquid organic fertilizer can potentially improve soil physical properties. This research aims to determine the effect of giving rice husk biochar and the correct dose, to find out the effect of applying liquid organic fertilizer and the right concentration and to find out the interaction between giving rice husk biochar and liquid organic fertilizer on eggplant growth and production. The study employs a Randomized Block Design (RBD) factorial with 2 treatment factors. The first factor involves rice husk biochar application at 4 levels (A0: control, A1: 0.6 tons/ha or approximately 30 g/plant, A2: 1.2 tons/ha or approximately 60 g/plant, and A3: 1.8 tons/ha or approximately 90 g/plant). The second factor is liquid organic fertilizer application at 4 levels (B0: control, B1: 0.1 mg/l, B2: 0.3 mg/l, and B3: 0.5 mg/l). The results of the study indicate that rice husk biochar application can increase plant height and leaf number, the best dose for rice husk biochar is 90 g/plant.Application of liquid organic fertilizer has not been able to affect plant height and number of eggplant leaves. Keywords : eggplant, rice husk biochar, liquid organic fertilizer

Abstract

Rubber plants (Hevea brasiliensis) will experience a decrease in production as plants age and the nutrient content in the soil decreases. This study aims to find out the chemical properties of soil on plantations of rubber crops that are converted into palm and coconut crops. The research was conducted from Februari 2023 to Agustus 2024 at the palm coconut plantation of PTPN III Aek Nabara North Garden in Labuhanbatu district and analyzed in the Land Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Northern Sumatra. The methods used are observation methods, field sampling, and analysis in the laboratory to obtain quantitative data. Observation parameters include soil pH, C-organic, Total Nitrogen, Available P, Cation Interchange Capacity, and Base Fulness. The results of the survey showed that the level of soil fertility at the site of the research was included in the low category. The main limiting factor that causes the low fertility of the soil is the low content of organic material in the soil. In order to improve the fertility status of the ground at the research site for further planting, it is necessary to make efforts such as irrigation and fertilization, as well as the addition of organic materials, to make the availability of nutrients for plants more affordable. Keywords: replanting area, rubber plants, conversion, soil fertility, quantitative data

Abstract

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without using soil as a growing medium. The word hydroponic consists of 'hydro' (water) and 'ponic' (work); therefore, hydroponics can be understood as agriculture that uses water as the growing medium. Agrokreasi Analysis is a place for cultivating hydroponic vegetable plants and a marketplace for buying and selling hydroponic vegetable plants located in Medan City. This research uses the case study method, which is research conducted by directly observing the field. The data sources in this study are in the form of primary data. Primary data is data obtained directly from the source by conducting direct interviews with consumers who buy hydroponic vegetables at Agrokreasi Analysis using a questionnaire that has been prepared in advance according to the research objectives and needs. The data collection technique was carried out through interviews, observation, and questionnaires. The independent variables used in this study are price, number of family members, and consumer income, while the dependent variable in this study is the demand for palm kernel sprouts. The sample in this study consisted of 30 palm oil farmers with a demand for hydroponic vegetables. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, which involves determining the sample based on chance, that is, whoever happens to purchase hydroponic vegetables and coincidentally meets the researcher. The analysis results indicate that the price variable (X1) affects the demand for hydroponic vegetables (Y) with a significance value of 0.009 < 0.05. The variable of family size (X2) affects the demand for hydroponic vegetables (Y) with a significance value of 0.505 > 0.05. The variable of consumer income (X3) affects the demand for hydroponic vegetables (Y) with a significance value of 0.718 > 0.05. Simultaneously, the study results obtained a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, which means that price (X1), family size (X2), and consumer income (X3) simultaneously have a significant effect on the demand for hydroponic vegetables (Y) in Analisa Agrokreasi. Keywords: demand, price, number of family members, consumer income

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) and Mutiara fertilizer on the growth and production of yardlong bean (Vigna sinensis L.). The research was conducted at the experimental field of Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia using a randomized block design with two factors: AMF doses (0, 5, 10, and 15 g/plant) and balanced NPK Mutiara fertilizer (0, 5, 10, and 15 g/plant). Parameters observed included plant length at 14, 21, 28, and 43 days after planting (DAP). Statistical analysis revealed that neither AMF nor Mutiara fertilizer, individually or in combination, significantly affected plant length during any observation period. However, a growth trend was observed, with the highest combination dose (15 g AMF + 15 g Mutiara) producing the tallest plant length of 3090 cm at 43 DAP. These findings suggest a potential synergistic effect between biofertilizers and chemical fertilizers in supporting plant growth, though not statistically significant. Further research with greater replication and more sensitive experimental design is recommended to validate these preliminary findings. Keywords: agrotechnology, balanced fertilization, long bean, mutiara fertilizer, mycorrhizal fungi
