Abstract

This research aimed to evaluated the growth performance of eyespot rasbora (Brevibora dorsiocellata) feeding with different feed in cultured conditions on early stage of domestication. The fishes was collected from river among Balunijuk Village, Bangka Residence. It’s conducted on February until March 2019 at  Laboratory of Aquaculture Sub-Laboratory of Hatchery, University of Bangka Belitung. A kinds of feed on this tretment was blood worms (Tubificidae) and commercial feed (pellet). The parameters observed in this research was surival rates, absolute weight and length and feed consumptions level. The result showed that the survival value ranged on 90-100%., the absolute weight was 0,12±0,02 until 0,17±0,02 grams, the absolute length was 0,69±0,17 until 0,79±0,06 cm and a feed consumptions level was 10±0,58 until 11±1,00 gram. In common, the eyespot rasbora (Brevibora dorsiocellata) showed the postively responses on early stage of domestications with different feed on cultured medium. Keywords : Bangka Island, Brevibora dosrsiocellata, Domestication, Eyespot Rasbora

Abstract

Several remote sensing methods using satellite imagery and acoustic instruments have often been used in mapping aquatic ecosystems but expensive and need hight expertise. This method used in this study is quite new in mapping aquatic ecosystems, but has often been done in mapping terrestrial areas. This method produces clear high-resolution digital data using optical devices with high efficiency. This research was carried out in Pulau Matahari, Kepualauan Banyak, Aceh Singkil for 3 (three) months in the field and 2 (two) months of data processing. This research data is in situ primary data taken by taking optical images continuously from the surface of the water by swimmer using a waterproof digital camera and then processed with PhotoScan software. The results of this study are high-resolution digital image data that can be used to make seagrass ecosystems map at the study site, assess ecosystem status, identify seagrass species ( 4 species), density (St1:103,9 ind/m2 and St2:128 ind/m2) and seagrass cover (57%– 61%).

Abstract

Catfish is one of the leading commodities in aquaculture in Indonesia. Catfish derivative products are currently very much developed, one of them was smoked catfish. The characteristics of smoked fish are influenced by several factors, including the type of firewood used. This study aims to examine the chemical and physical characteristics of smoked catfish with different burners. The smoking method used is heat fumigation. The parameters observed were proximate, pH value, phenol content, formaldehyde content, characteristics of color, texture and aroma. The results obtained, protein content, water content, ash content and fat content using laban wood are higher than rambutan wood 60.6%:58.8%; 6.65%:5.54%; 7.97%:7.29%; 20.4%;14.6% repectively. The phenol value of smoked fish using laban wood is higher than that of rambutan wood 0.2401ppm:0.2204ppm respectively. Formaldehyde levels in both types of wood are negative. The characteristics of the two smoked fish are the same in texture, aroma, pH and temperature parameters were solid texture, typical aroma of smoked fish, pH value 6.7 with a temperature of 80-100oC respectively. But the color of smoked fish by burning laban wood is bright brown while the rambutan wood is shiny brown.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of mangrove ecosystem degradation to the diversity of the catch in the affected coastal area of Pagimana District. Surveys were done from July 2019 to February 2020 to collect data with questionnaires. Data is analyzed by quantitative descriptive analysis and NASA Arset analysis (GIS). Results of the study show that: (1) extensive damage to the mangrove tend to fluctuate from year to year; (2) the extent of damage is small to cause significant impact on fish catch; (3) diversity of the catch is still relatively high and the state of the waters is still relatively good. Keywords: Mangrove; ecosystem; degradation; catch; diversity.

Abstract

Marine litter is solid material that has been used by people and abandoned or discarded into sewage, river, sea or marine environment. Debris problem in coastal area becomes the urgent issue and concerns many countries across the world particularly marine countries such as Indonesia. The research objective is to examine people perception towards marine litter in Aceh Barat Regency about whom responsible for eradicating marine debris. Researchers conduct the study in January to June 2018 and collect data by distributing questionnaire to 383 respondents. The result shows that 46.2% respondents believe that business activities in coastal area like cafe, hotel, and other business related to marine tourism responsible for keeping the sea clean. In similar, researchers find 38.6% respondent stated that elaminating marine debris is society duty starts from us. The final finding is 36.8% sample shows that researchers are the most motivated stakeholders for reducing marine litter.

Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate composition of fish catching around palm fiber fish aggregating device (FAD). This research was performed in waters of Nagan Raya District, Indian Ocean on October until December 2018. Palm fiber FAD and coconut fronds FAD was set up at 20-30 m depth. The The research is using survey method and to collecting data, experimental fishing was used to collect data with hand line fishing gear. The results show the types of fish catching in palm fiber FAD is Lepturacanthus savala, Selar crumenopthalmus, Selaroides leptolepis, Rastrelliger kanagurta and  Sardinella lemuru. For coconut fronds FADs, composition of fish catching is Selaroides leptolepis, Rastrelliger kanagurta, Sardenella sirin, Caranx sp, Terapon jarbua, Chorinemus tala dan Upenius mullocensin. Total of fish cacthing in palm fiber FADs is 70 fish. While at coconut fronds FADs is 29 fish. Based on descriptive analysis, the palm fiber FADs is more effective than coconut fronds FADs. This study is very important in the production of fish catching around FADs.
