Abstract

The research objective was to find out how personal pronouns used by the students in writing narrative text at SMAN 2 Koto Baru, Dharmasraya. The research method was descriptive qualitative method. The data source was documents. There were 38 sheets of student writing about narrative text. The research finding was the students still made mistakes in using personal pronouns such as subject pronoun (correct 61.1%), object pronoun (correct 32.2%), possessive adjective pronoun (correct 49.7%), possessive pronoun (correct 0%) and reflexive pronoun (correct 0%). It can be concluded the ability of the students in using personal pronouns still less.

Abstract

The discourse on shifting artistic idioms which allows for the opening up of diversity in the visual creation of paintings is the background for this applied research. The aim is to offer alternative materials for paintings that add novelty to the idea of creation. The method used is based on practice and experimentation through the use of used pictorial media as a field for painting. This research produces alternative works of painting with visual uniqueness due to the overlapping images as a differentiator. Apart from marking a paradigm shift in the discourse and idiom of painting, it also strengthens the findings regarding the transfer of the basic material context of painting. This creation is quite important because the exploration of unconventional painting presents uniqueness that can trigger newness in painting in the future.

Abstract

The village is the smallest entity with its strategic position in holding regional elections which is vulnerable to the practice of money politics. Project mark ups, vote buying, bribery, gratuities constitute political corruption when elected as leader. The impact of the regional elections is that they do not produce authentic leaders for the welfare of their citizens. The aim of the research is to build an anti-money politics village as a strategy to anticipate fraudulent regional elections in 2024. This research uses a socio-legal research approach with literature study techniques and in-depth interviews. The research results show that the practice of money politics is influenced by several factors and to minimize these factors, an anti-money politics village model must be formed, one of which is through literacy or community forum-based education.

Abstract

Patriarchal culture glorifies masculinity and subordinates women, influencing their career choices and ambitions. Patriarchal culture oppresses women. Patriarchal society destroys and isolates women. Verbal and pictorial data are presented in this descriptive qualitative research. This research aims to analyze how patriarchal culture shackles and discriminates against women. Patriarchal society degrades women and inhibits their socialization. This descriptive qualitative research presents data verbally and graphically. In micro studies, social sciences and humanities apply qualitative research. The research was conducted at Jalan Tangguk Kec Medan Denai. The research started in early June and ended. Researchers obtained data through interviews, observations, and document studies. The results showed that Batak patriarchal culture empowers men at home and in society. Although Batak culture devalues women, they complement men. Batak families depend on men, while women clean the house. Batak people in Medan City can promote gender equality and progress through knowledge and action.

Abstract

The independent curriculum is expected to be a solution to increasing education gaps. The purpose of the study was to conduct an analysis of the implementation of the independent curriculum, information about obstacles, challenges in the implementation of the independent curriculum at SMA Negeri 17 Surabaya. The method used is descriptive qualitative, data collection is carried out by conducting interviews with subject teachers, vice principals for curriculum, and making observations. The results of the descriptive analysis that the implementation of Pancasila Education learning at SMA Negeri 17 Surabaya runs effectively and systematically, there are curricula, teaching materials, teaching media, as well as teaching methods, facilities, learning resources by considering the characteristics and needs of students. The obstacle is that there are still incomplete learning resources, not all teachers understand the application of the independent learning curriculum in learning.

Abstract

Female employees are often the reference and center of the company in maintaining the companys image. Female employees, especially in the industrial sector such as BSC Cafe Lubuk Pakam, often experience communication barriers and lack of self-efficacy. This study aims to determine three things, namely (1) Analysis of the Level of Self Efficacy of Female Employees (2) Integration of Interpersonal Communication to Self Efficacy (3) The Role of Female Employees in Fostering Self Efficacy. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods case studies with purposive sampling techniques and in-depth interviews. The results of this study indicate that the level of self-efficacy of female employees increases with good communication skills. And female employees themselves have a central role in growing their individual self-efficacy.

Abstract

This study examines the audience’s response to the representation of local culture, especially the city of Malang, which are shown in the movie Yowis Ben. The purpose of this study is to find out the responses given by the audience to the local Malang’s culture in the movie. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with Stuart Hall’s reception analysis approach. The results of the study show that cultural representation of the use of Javanese language with the representation of local culinary of pecel is dominated by a dominant-hegemonic position where the audience fully accepts the message conveyed, meanwhile using local swear words known as pisuhan is dominated by negotiated position where the audience can accept the dominant code but reject it by making a selection. Researcher viewed that this movie is a good media in introducing a local culture of Malang to a wider audiences.

Abstract

Transition signals is one of the main important things in composing a coherent paragraph; in fact, many students still feel struggle to apply them in their academic writing. Therefore, this research is conducted in order to provide a comprehensive overview of how current students use transition signals in their undergraduate thesis. This research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data are obtained from nine findings and discussion chapters on undergraduate thesis of English department students. The data are classified based on the types of transition signals by Oshima and Hogue (2006). The result revealed that all types of transition signals are existed in undergraduate thesis, those are transition signals for chronological order, order of importance, additional idea, cause and effect, comparison and contrast, giving example, and conclusion. The type of transition signals that most frequently used is transition signals for addition whereas the type of transition as the least used is transition signals for order of importance. Also, the type of transition signals that most incorrectly used is transition signals for chronological order

Abstract

Learning is a learning process built by teachers to improve moral, intellectual, and develop various abilities possessed by students, including thinking abilities, creative abilities, knowledge construction abilities, problem solving abilities, and the ability to master learning material well. The aim to be achieved in this research is to describe the role of teachers in 21st century learning at SDN 1 Mansalean, Banggai Laut Regency. This type of research uses qualitative research. Abstract

This research was motivated by a title about the use of subtle language or choosing the right words when interacting. A person can be said to be ethical if he pays attention to polite and courteous language in his speech. The aim of this research is to describe or explain the form and function of Indonesian euphemisms among teenagers in East Pentadio village. The method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative research type. Based on the research results, it was found that the forms of euphemistic expressions used by young people in East Pentadio include abbreviations, foreign terms, metaphors and periphrases. Meanwhile, refined language functions to create a polite and comfortable atmosphere, disguise meaning, and reduce embarrassment. The habit of softening words has become part of society's culture. For this reason, as a cultured society, we are expected to be able to recognize the use of euphemisms. This serves to maintain mutual feelings and comfort in communicating with fellow speakers.
