Journal of Appropriate Technology for Community Services (JATTEC) berisi hasil-hasil kegiatan pengabdian dan pemberdayaan masyarakat berupa penerapan berbagai bidang ilmu khususnya teknologi tepat guna. Jurnal ini sebagai wadah untuk mempulikasikan pengembangan teknologi yang digunakan dalam pengembangan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Pengembangan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat dilakukan melalui peningkatan UMKM, usaha perekonomian, maupun kegiatan lainnya yang meningkatkan kualitas pengetahuan dan kemampuan masyarakat.

Abstract

The level of understanding among tempeh producers in Habaring Hurung Village on waste treatment remains significantly limited. Liquid waste from production is directly discharged into water bodies and causes various environmental problems. Consequently, a program was implemented to provide knowledge regarding suitable technology for effectively managing tempeh liquid waste to produce environmentally sustainable biogas. This initiative occurred in Habaring Hurung Village in the Bukit Batu District of Palangka Raya City. The community empowerment activity begins with a careful preparation process, followed by collaborative efforts with partners, the assembly of biogas reactors, and socialization initiatives, and concludes with an evaluation phase. The findings derived from this project indicate that the Habaring Hurung Village community has demonstrated proficiency in constructing biogas reactors. Moreover, there has been an obvious improvement in the community's understanding of liquid waste utilization and environmental management.

Abstract

Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Nira Lestari is a micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) engaged in coconut processing, including Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). VCO products produced by partners have low quality and quickly smell rancid. These problems are caused by the manual production process which causes a long production time, the inclusion of water that causes hydrolysis and the high volatile compounds in VCO. The purpose of this program is to design a centrifugation device and vacuum pump filter to increase the efficiency of partner production and eliminate rancid odor in the VCO produced. The method used in this service is a survey of partner needs, tool design, tool making, tool testing, tool application and product testing. The application of the two tools has been proven to help streamline partner production and eliminate rancidity. Laboratory test results of VCO after the use of the tool show that VCO has a moisture content of 0.0829% and a germ content of 0%.

Abstract

The majority of the livelihoods of the people of Kenaran Hamlet are vegetable farmers and itinerant vegetable traders. In facing market realities, they are often disadvantaged by a significant decline in vegetable prices due to abundant supply. Knowledge about financial literacy and sound financial management is needed to address this wisely. To realize this, community service activities must educate the community to make their lives more economically prosperous. Departing from this, a family financial management socialization program was created to improve residents' financial literacy. This program was carried out in several stages: observation, program preparation, socialization, and evaluation. The result of this program is the local community's understanding of sound financial management and increased financial literacy to achieve economic prosperity.

Abstract

Retail owners need to utilize transaction data for customer buying patterns. By knowing the pattern of customer purchases, retail owners can adjust the layout of the store and the layout of goods on the display rack or a planogram to increase product visibility which refers to increased sales. Not many retail owners are aware of the benefits of using a good planogram and how to design it, so it is essential to provide training related to planograms to the public so they can know how to create planograms properly and correctly. Community service will be conducted from July to October 2022 in Sleman, Bantul, and Temanggung Regency and its surroundings, with interactive mentoring methods with material delivery and questions and answers. Submission of the material contains definitions, benefits, and illustrations of the application of the planogram in the retail industry, as well as the stages of planning the planogram. With this community service, it is hoped that retail business owners who participate in the mentoring can utilize transaction data at each retailer to develop a planogram based on customer purchasing patterns, thereby increasing sales and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Penggunaan digital marketing ke dalam rencana pemasaran perusahaan secara keseluruhan telah menjadi sangat penting karena kemajuan teknologi informasi dan meluasnya penggunaan internet. Namun, sejumlah besar UMKM menghadapi tantangan dalam mengadopsi strategi pemasaran digital, terutama karena kurangnya pemahaman dan kemahiran mereka dalam bidang ini. Sesi pelatihan ini diadakan di Dukuh Kalangan, tepatnya di Desa Genengsari, dengan fokus khusus pada UMKM Catering Bu Kam Snack yang belum mengadopsi strategi pemasaran digital. Tujuan dari program pelatihan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta UMKM mengenai prinsip-prinsip dasar pemasaran digital, keunggulannya, dan konten terkait yang berkaitan dengan bidang tersebut. Hasil dari program pelatihan dan pendampingan ini mencakup pengembangan keterampilan pembuatan Logo, kemahiran dalam memanfaatkan WhatsApp Business, kompetensi dalam memanfaatkan Google Business, dan pembentukan Akun Lynk.id. Berdasarkan pelatihan dan pendampingan yang dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa UMKM Catering Bu Kam Snack telah siap untuk memulai pemasaran digital.

Abstract

Natural disasters are quite common in Indonesia, such as volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes, and floods, this is because Indonesia is located between the three tectonic plates of the world (Indo-Australia, Eurasia and the Pacific). Disasters that often occur cause material losses such as damage to buildings and hamper the supply of primary needs, for example the need for electrical energy. The delay in the need for electrical energy after a natural disaster has caused the mobility of the community to be disrupted, for example lighting.The portable energy system that has been designed has proven to be quite effective in supplying electrical energy for the evacuation of victims of natural disasters. The test results show that portable energy can produce energy of 720Wh with a load scheme of using five 10Watt LED lights that operate for 12 hours/day and three charger stations operating for 4 hours/day. In the charging test using a solar panel with 120 Wp the device can be fully charged for 9 hours, but if the weather is cloudy, the solar panel cannot produce maximum power and results in less than optimal battery charge.Portable energy can have positive social and environmental impacts. Positive impact on the social sector, because it can provide a temporary supply of electrical power so that the electricity supply to the affected areas can operate normally.

Abstract

The influence of the utilization of chemical fertilizers on agricultural land has a negative impact on the environment since it can reduce soil fertility and pollute air and water. Currently, the use of chemical fertilizers is starting to be reduced. The development of organic fertilizers derived from natural ingredients began to be developed, where the advantages of using organic fertilizers are easy to obtain, environmentally friendly, and low production costs. The Community Empowerment Assistance Lecturer Program was carried out in Tuwung Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. This program is carried out in order to empower farmers as an effort to increase the productivity of their agricultural products. The aims of this program are; 1). Provide training to farmers related to how to make liquid organic fertilizer from purun plants; and 2).  Determine the effectiveness of the implementation of training on increasing farmers' knowledge in making liquid organic fertilizer. Training activities were presented to the introduction of purun plants and their potential as materials for making liquid organic fertilizer. Next, the activity continued with a demonstration of how to make liquid organic fertilizer from purun plants. Finally, the farmers were asked to practice directly making liquid organic fertilizer. The results of this training had an positive response on the knowledge and skills of farmers in Tuwung Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, in making liquid organic fertilizer. In addition, this activity is considered effective and efficient based on the results of the evaluation in accordance with the target achievement.

Abstract

Tuwung Village, located in the Kahayan Tengah District, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan, has significant potential in managing social forestry land to support food security. The local community, organized in the Social Forestry Business Group (KUPS), has successfully cultivated 120 hives of stingless bees (Trigona sp.), with monthly production capacity of up to 350 mL per hive. Although honey production is abundant, its sales remain very limited due to a marketing strategy that relies solely on word-of-mouth promotion. Therefore, this community service activity was introduced to provide guidance to KUPS Madu Kelulut on branding, product packaging, and digital marketing. With an attractive brand, high-quality packaging, and the right marketing strategy, it is hoped that the stingless bee honey business can become more competitive in a market already saturated with similar products. This community service program involved several stages, including preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The activity was carried out on July 9, 2024, with 40 participants. The evaluation results indicated an 81.25% increase in participants' understanding of branding, product packaging, and digital marketing. Furthermore, the participants successfully created the brand "Madu Kelulut Nyai Hapu," with an appealing packaging design and effective promotional content shared through social media and e-commerce platforms.

Abstract

Developments in technology and science have had a big effect on life, including in the field of education. Many schools from high school, middle school, elementary school, even kindergarten or PAUD are developing themselves to provide quality learning or educational services by implementing computer-based information systems. The current problem is that the recording of report card scores as a child's development is done manually or written in a report card, this makes it difficult to find out the child's development graph. So there is a need for a system that helps facilitate the assessment of report cards and progress charts preschool children's education. The method used in this service is a descriptive research design method. Service activities in the system development process that will be proposed are the waterfall method. An integrated report card data processing information system to make things easier for PAUD schools. The information system makes things easier for students or parents in checking report scores via the website..

Abstract

Digital technology, especially SolidWorks software and 3D printing, has brought significant changes to the modern manufacturing industry, increasing efficiency, productivity, and product quality. The problems faced by vocational school graduates are related to their lack of skills in operating the software. Community service activities aim to provide solutions, with direct training, to overcome the skills gap that arises due to the lack of facilities and competent teachers in the vocational school environment. Training methods include delivering material with practical exercises and using evaluations to measure participants' understanding. The main goal is to improve product design skills using SolidWorks and operating 3D printing machines. Based on the training carried out, it shows an increase in participants' knowledge regarding the operation of SolidWorks software and 3D printing. This can be seen from the increase in post-test scores of 6.34% compared to the pre-test. In addition, the participants' 3D printed parts showed better quality in terms of dimensional accuracy, visual surface roughness, and fewer defective parts compared to before the training.
