Abstract

One of the urgent issues worldwide is infectious waste, which impacts both the environment and health. Infectious waste includes various types of medical waste, such as disposable diapers and sanitary pads contaminated with hazardous materials like blood, bodily fluids, and other pathogens. If not properly managed, infectious waste can lead to the spread of diseases. The village of Tanjungrejo, located in the Ngombol subdistrict, has a well-managed TPS3R Waste Bank, but one of the issues they face is the lack of a management method for infectious waste like disposable diapers and sanitary pads. In Tanjungrejo, infectious waste is often disposed of by being dumped into streams or burned along with other waste due to the lack of proper facilities for managing infectious waste. This method of waste management can lead to the transmission of diseases and environmental pollution, such as water, air, and soil contamination. Based on these issues, the aim of this community service project is to develop technologies and innovations to help address environmental problems, including the management of infectious waste. The project will use the Design Thinking method, which includes the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test.

Abstract

The 99 Farm Livestock Group faces challenges in increasing feed production efficiency and occupational safety and health (OHS). These challenges are caused by the use of inefficient and unergonomic grass chopping machines, which pose risks to livestock farmers' safety and increase operational costs. This community service program aims to address these issues by introducing energy-efficient grass chopping machines designed with ergonomic and OHS aspects in mind. This study examines the impact of implementing this technology on livestock farmers' operational efficiency and welfare. The results show a significant increase in the efficiency of the grass chopping process, reduced operational costs, and improved working conditions for livestock farmers. The implementation of this technology is also expected to be an example for other livestock farmers to implement more sustainable and safe practices.

Abstract

In 2023, the waste production in D.I. Yogyakarta Province reached 440,267.76 tons per year, with household waste contributing the largest portion at 44.3% of the total. The continuous rise in waste is attributed to the increasing population and declining quality of life. Additionally, the local community's lack of awareness about effective waste management, such as composting food waste, exacerbates the problem, making it difficult for them to handle the waste they generate. This initiative aimed to educate the Padukuhan Sawit community, particularly RT.002, on household-based waste management practices. It included discussions and hands-on training on how to use mini composters. The methodology involved a field survey, discussions with community leaders, preparation and planning, socialization, distribution of mini composters, and an evaluation and demonstration of the proper use of mini composters. The program, conducted over two sessions, garnered significant enthusiasm from the participants. Out of the 10 mini composters distributed, only 4 were used independently. The main barrier preventing wider adoption was the fear of failure, such as unpleasant odors or other technical issues. Therefore, there is a need for strategic follow-up and mentoring to ensure the sustainability of the initiative. Such as monitoring each representative of the dasa wisma and distributing spare EM4 fluid to facilitate waste management for other residents.

Abstract

MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) play a crucial role in supporting Indonesia’s economy, including the furniture sector, which holds significant development potential. XYZ Regency is well-known as a furniture MSME hub with products exported widely. However, challenges such as raw material cutting efficiency, production quality standardization, and limited working capital remain obstacles for business actors. The XYZ Regency Government is planning to develop a furniture industrial center to improve community welfare, increase global market competitiveness, and benefit various stakeholders. This study aims to evaluate the business feasibility of a furniture industrial center in XYZ from a financial perspective. The quantitative method used involved data collection through surveys and questionnaires engaging 1,155 furniture MSMEs in A and B Subdistricts. Analysis was conducted by calculating cost of goods manufactured (COGM), labor costs, overhead, and projected profit and loss. The results indicate that annual labor costs reach IDR 1,513,046,088, overhead is IDR 997,270,000, and non-production operational costs are IDR 724,560,000. The estimated Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) is IDR 3,234,876,088, with annual revenue potential of IDR 4,464,000,000 and a net profit of IDR 629,123,912. Projections show that the Break-Even Point (BEP) is expected to be achieved between the 8th and 9th years, with optimum operational targets being reached by the 10th year. This study provides a basis for XYZ Regency Government to make informed decisions regarding the development of the furniture industrial center business in the future.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's policy of deactivating analog television broadcasts and switching to digital television has an impact on people who are still used to enjoying analog television broadcasts. Moreover, many television devices owned by the public are still analog system televisions. Thus, people need devices that can convert analog signals into digital form and can be displayed on analog television. This device is better known as a Set Top Box (STB). Unfortunately, people only use STB to watch digital TV shows, while STB has many features that can be used to obtain information, communication tools and entertainment media. For this reason, it is necessary to transfer knowledge and technology to the community so that it can optimize the functions and features of the STB, then these activities are packaged in the form of Community Service. The results of the activity showed that the public was very enthusiastic in following and concerning to the presentation of information on STB features, proven by the large number of people who attended, reaching 93% of the invitations given, and the many questions asked during the discussion session.

Abstract

The UKM in Borobudur village are diverse, such as food, snacks, brown sugar, leather, etc. The products produced by these UKM are marketed locally through traditional markets, stalls, and kiosks located around Borobudur village. The problem is that the turnover generated by UKM is relatively small because the target market is still local. This is because the marketing strategy used is classified as classic. Market expansion can be done by implementing digital marketing. The increasing use of social media currently opens up great opportunities for business people to carry out promotions. Promotions carried out using social media and displaying interesting content are aimed at increasing tourist interest in visiting tourist areas. Abstract

Entrepreneurship is an indicator in seeing the progress of a nation and state. To become a developed country requires a minimum of 20% of entrepreneurs from the total workforce, while Indonesia is still below 8%. Therefore, the core of this community service program is to inspire the spirit of entrepreneurship from an early age to students. Hopefully, in the future, these students will become skilled and competent entrepreneurs. Technically, this entrepreneurship service is to provide a theoretical and practical understanding of entrepreneurship to teenagers, especially students of State Senior High School 4 Palangka Raya. This training is expected to be a provision for them after graduating from school, if they want to start their own business. The method involves training with various materials and visual materials related to entrepreneurship. At the beginning of the activity, students were given an understanding of entrepreneurship in theory, namely the history of entrepreneurship, business theory, financial statements, and business feasibility studies. After that, participants were given an understanding of entrepreneurship through speakers who came from practitioners / entrepreneurs. The material from the practitioner is the experience and tips of entrepreneurship. Then this activity was continued with questions and answers between participants and speakers. Evaluation was conducted through a pre-test (before material exposure) and post-test (after material exposure and Q&A) to measure students' understanding and interest in entrepreneurship. Before receiving the training, participants may feel afraid or hesitant regarding the risks that may arise during entrepreneurship. However, after receiving the training, students began to feel more confident and realized the positive impact they could experience if they were involved in entrepreneurship. This can also be seen from the increase in understanding by 36% of all participants.
