Abstract

Abstract

Final-year students frequently experience anxiety and stress due to academic pressure related to thecompletion of scientific papers. If not managed appropriately, these conditions may negatively affectstudents’ mental health and academic progress. Butterfly Hug is a simple self-administered relaxationtechnique performed by crossing the arms over the chest and tapping alternately, producing a calmingeffect through bilateral stimulation. This technique is easy to perform, requires no equipment, and canbe applied in various situations. This study aimed to determine the effect of Butterfly Hug on anxietyand stress levels among final-year students at Karsa Husada Health Science Collage Garut in 2025. Theresearch design employed a one-group pretest–posttest design without a control group, involving 15respondents selected using Simple Random Sampling (SRS). The instruments used were the HamiltonAnxiety Rating Scale (HARS) to measure anxiety and the stress subscale of the DASS-21 to measurestress. The intervention was conducted consistently and in a structured manner for four days with initialguidance from the researcher. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed a significantreduction in anxiety and stress levels. The significance values were 0.001 for anxiety and 0.002 forstress (p < 0.05), indicating that Butterfly Hug had a significant effect in reducing anxiety and stress. Therefore, this therapy is expected to serve as an alternative self-intervention that students can utilizeto maintain mental health while completing scientific papers.

Abstract

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are a significant health problem and a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children under five years of age in Indonesia. Complete basic immunization (IDL) is the most effective preventive intervention. However, CDI coverage in the Cibiuk Community Health Center (Puskesmas) area, Garut District, is very low (46.1% in 2022), which is thought to be strongly correlated with the high incidence of ARI in vulnerable age groups. This study aims to empirically analyze the relationship between Complete Basic Immunization status and the incidence of ARI in children aged 12-24 months. A retrospective case-control study involving 84 infants (42 ARI cases, 42 controls) with gender matching, using medical records and KIA books, analyzed with Chi-Square and Odds Ratio. Results: The majority of respondents (65.5%) had incomplete basic immunization. There was a highly significant association between immunization status and ARI incidence (p<0.05), with the risk of ARI being nearly 14 times greater in infants with incomplete immunization. Conclusion: Complete basic immunization status plays an important role in protecting infants aged 12–24 months from ARI. Therefore, increasing immunization coverage through promotional and preventive efforts needs to be intensified to reduce ARI morbidity in the Cibiuk Community Health Center working area.

Abstract

The issue of waste remains a serious environmental problem at the global, national, and local levels. Population growth, changes in consumption patterns, and increasingly practical lifestyles have led to a steady increase in the volume of waste over time. The objectives of this study are: To identify and analyze waste management efforts through the application of the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) at STIKes Karsa Husada Garut as a form of support for creating a clean, healthy, and environmentally conscious campus environment. This study was conducted using qualitative research methods by observing and collecting information about the research object. The study was conducted by observing and analyzing the behavior of people in the environment of STIKes Karsa Husada Garut. The study analyzed the effectiveness and suitability of waste separation. Based on our observations, we can conclude that waste management through the process of separating organic and inorganic waste is very important to address environmental, health, and economic issues related to waste. Although waste management efforts are carried out at STIKes KHG, observations show that its implementation is still poor. The STIKES KHG community must be educated about disposing of waste according to its type. Waste management is beneficial for reducing the impact of environmental pollution and supporting the waste management system. Our discussion also shows the importance of applying the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept in everyday life to reduce the amount of waste produced. The process of recycling waste into various products has economic and environmental benefits. The importance of waste management is also reflected in the objectives of waste management in mathematics and natural sciences. However, the report shows that students' understanding and awareness of waste sorting needs to be improved to achieve good waste management. In addition, we also show the benefits of waste management in reducing the use of natural resources and preserving the environment.
