Abstract

The prevalence of anemia in teenagers in East Java in 2018 was 50-60%. Anemia can be caused by various things, including iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, folic acid deficiency, infectious diseases, congenital factors and bleeding. The Indonesian government is intensifying its anemia prevention and management program in adolescent girls and women of childbearing age (WUS) by prioritizing the provision of one blood supplement tablet every week to reduce the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls and WUS by 2025. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of health promotion and a movement to take blood supplement tablets together through WhatsApp Group media to increase knowledge about anemia and compliance with consuming blood supplement tablets among young women at SMPN 1 Karangrejo. This research is included in pre-experimental research using one group pretest and posttest by carrying out a pretest before giving treatment and then doing a posttest after giving treatment. The sample for this research was 92 young women at SMPN 1 Karangrejo. The research results obtained a p value = 0.000 (? 0.05), so it was concluded that there was a difference in the level of knowledge about anemia and compliance with taking blood supplement tablets between before and after being given health promotion and the movement to take blood supplement tablets together via WhatsApp Group, which means health promotion and the movement to take blood-enhancing tablets together via WhatsApp Group is effective in increasing knowledge about anemia among young women at SMPN 1 Karangrejo

Abstract

In 2023, South Sumatra Province recorded a quality score of the Food Pattern of Hope (PPH), reaching 94.2, surpassing the national average. However, cases of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) among pregnant women remained, with a percentage of 7.4%. CED in pregnant women can lead to the birth of babies with low birth weight (LBW), disrupt fetal growth, and increase the risk of anemia during pregnancy, which can indirectly contribute to prematurity. This study aims to identify the determinant characteristics of CED in pregnant women during the second and third trimesters in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. The method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis showed that CED among pregnant women in their second and third trimesters in Ogan Ilir Regency occurred in determinant groups with no risk of pregnancy spacing (10.3%), sufficient antenatal care history (10%), non-risk maternal age (10.9%), and non-working mothers (9.8%). For the parity variable, five pregnant women with CED (11.9%) were from the high-risk parity category. Regarding the high-risk determinant characteristics, CED was found in low maternal education (15.2%) and low family income (11.2%). Future research is recommended to explore the determinant characteristics of CED more complexly. Additionally, optimal antenatal care (ANC) should be conducted in quantity and quality, emphasizing the importance of enhancing maternal health knowledge. Implementing the recommendation of at least two pregnancy check-ups by a doctor should also be strengthened.

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are the most common complication in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Diabetic ulcers are full-thickness wounds that frequently occur in specific parts of the body, particularly in the lower extremities. These wounds are a significant concern because they can lead to severe complications, including infections, amputations, and even reduced quality of life if not managed properly. Patients with diabetic ulcers require not only medical attention but also substantial support from their families in daily care and management. The family plays a crucial role in providing therapeutic health care to members suffering from diabetic ulcers. This includes ensuring proper wound care, helping patients adhere to prescribed treatment regimens, monitoring blood glucose levels, and supporting lifestyle changes such as a balanced diet and regular physical activity. However, the extent to which families can perform these roles effectively depends on their knowledge and caregiving abilities. The purpose of this study is to assess the knowledge and abilities of families in caring for family members with diabetic ulcers. This research is a quantitative descriptive study conducted with a sample of 37 respondents, selected using a total sampling technique. The study utilized a questionnaire that had been rigorously tested for validity and reliability to ensure the accuracy of the findings. The results of this study indicate that while the majority of families (59.5%) possess good knowledge about diabetic ulcers and their care, a significant proportion (64.9%) lack the ability to effectively care for family members with this condition. These findings highlight the need for targeted education and training programs to enhance the caregiving skills of families, enabling them to provide better support and improve outcomes for patients with diabetic ulcers.

Abstract

Stunting, a condition of impaired growth in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition, remains a global health issue, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia. Factors such as poor nutrition, frequent infections, and inadequate healthcare contribute to its prevalence. Supplemental feeding, especially with foods rich in calories, protein, and micronutrients, is a proven approach to improving the nutritional status of stunted children. This study reviews literature from 2015 to 2024, utilizing databases like ScienceDirect, PubMed, Springer, Sagepub, and Google Scholar, with keywords including "stunting," "impact," and "supplemental feeding." Excluded are studies with unclear methodologies or insufficient data on the effects of supplemental feeding. Findings indicate that nutritional interventions involving protein, carbohydrate, and micronutrient-rich foods (e.g., eggs, milk, legumes, and zinc) effectively support linear growth and improve nutritional outcomes. A holistic approach integrating local food and micronutrient supplementation offers a sustainable solution to reduce stunting and enhance child nutrition in resource-limited settings

Abstract

Acne is a skin disorder that often occurs in adolescents. Propionibacterium acnes is a bacteria that causes acne. The use of antibacterial substances is very important to prevent and control this bacterial infection. One of the advances in the use of antibacterials comes from the use of ecoenzyme. The process of managing organic waste with ecoenzyme can be an effective and environmentally friendly waste management strategy. Garut orange with the scientific name Citrus nobilis var. chrysocarpa is a local wisdom fruit. Orange peel which is a waste that increases in quantity when the harvest season arrives can be used in the manufacture of ecoenzyme. This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial ability of ecoenzyme from garut orange peel against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The fermentation time for ecoenzyme production varied from 30, 60 and 90 days.. The method for the eco enzyme antibacterial test uses the disc diffusion method. Three variations in eco enzyme concentration used to inhibit the growth of isolated bacteria are 33%, 66% and 100%. Ecoenzyme from Garut orange peel shows antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne. Antibacterial activity shows an increase with increasing fermentation time of ecoenzyme

Abstract

Victims of sexual violence are predominantly children. This is due to a lack of understanding of the boundaries of "appropriate touch" on the body. An age- and culturally-appropriate measurement tool is needed to support their self-protection education efforts. This tool will assess children's readiness to identify and respond to suspicious touch. The purpose of this study was to design and test a questionnaire that serves as a measure of knowledge, affective and psychomotor expressions of children aged 5 to 8 years. This questionnaire is also useful as a medium for educating children to avoid sexual violence. This study used an exploratory mixed-method design. Content validity was assessed by three experts, face validity was assessed through observation of 13 children. Item-total correlation analysis and Cronbach's Alpha were used to assess reliability and empirical validity on 62 students from three schools. Results showed that all 28 items were valid by experts (I-CVI and S-CVI/Ave=1.00), and all had r values greater than 0.246. Cronbach's Alpha values were highly reliable for the self-protection section (0.983) and the expression of affection section (0.974). Therefore, this questionnaire can be used by parents, health workers, and teachers, to measure and educate children to prevent sexual violence.
