Abstract

Background: Discussion about sexual and reproductive health issues among teenagers and parents is still shadowed by taboos in some cultures. Ignorance and myths surrounding these issues make teenagers vulnerable to the consequences of inappropriate sexual behavior, which in turn exposes them to risky behavioral problems. The lack of knowledge regarding teaching strategies used to educate teenagers can result in their indifferent attitudes and decreased motivation in receiving educational materials.Purpose: To determine the characteristics, age, gender, participants knowledge levels regarding adolescent reproductive health, and the influence of leaflet and booklet media on the level of adolescent reproductive health knowledge.Method: A quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only design. The sample consisted of 50 teenagers divided into 2 intervention groups. The media used for education were booklets and leaflets. Results: The analysis results for the booklet group with a mean of 67.48 ± 14.060 and the leaflet group with a mean of 54.20 ± 6.331 yielded a ρ-value of 0.001. Therefore, there is a difference in the impact of health education intervention on the level of reproductive health knowledge among teenagers. Conclusion: Providing education using booklets can be one of the more effective educational strategies.Suggestion: Both adolescent boys and girls are encouraged to properly maintain their reproductive health and participate in every available health education activity to enhance their knowledge and health status.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia currently faces a triple burden of various disease problems, outbreaks of infectious diseases, and an increase in long-standing infectious diseases, new infectious diseases, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). A report released in 2020 by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) indicated that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the postponement of routine vaccinations resulted in approximately 80 million children aged less than or equal to 12 months being susceptible to diphtheria, measles, and polio.Purpose: To review previous research in analyzing the relationship between incomplete basic vaccination and the occurrence of vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) cases.Method: This study employed a literature review design, conducting a systematic review by selecting relevant articles pertaining to the research objective. The literature study selection process was adapted from the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Inclusion criteria for this research encompassed originality, usage of both English and Indonesian languages, keywords covering basic vaccination, adverse events following vaccination, Integrated Healthcare Centervisits, education, and the role of Integrated Healthcare Centercadres. Results: Generally, community knowledge, attitudes, family support, and the role of cadres correlated with vaccination coverage achievement. However, some studies indicated no correlation between specific variables and the infants' basic vaccination status. To enhance vaccination coverage and client satisfaction, improving community knowledge, attitudes, family support, the role of healthcare workers and Integrated Healthcare Centercadres, as well as increasing vaccine availability and vaccination guidelines, are necessary. Conclusion: To improve vaccination coverage and client satisfaction, enhancements in community knowledge, attitudes, family support, the role of healthcare workers and Integrated Healthcare Centercadres, alongside increased vaccine availability and vaccination guidelines, are essential.Suggestion: It is advisable for the community to enhance knowledge, attitudes, and support for vaccination, especially among mothers and families. The active involvement of cadres in vaccination programs and public dialogue regarding the moral ethics of vaccination also need improvement.

Abstract

Background: Public Health Center (PHC) is one of the primary healthcare facilities that has an important role in the chain of survival of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients, especially in rural areas. Nurses are an important component of health workers in PHC. Basic Life Support (BLS) knowledgeis the basic component of building a qualified resuscitation.Purpose: To analyze the relationship between demographic characteristics of PHC’s nurses in a rural area and their knowledge about BLS.Method: An observational analytical study with a cross-sectional approach involved 32 PHC nurses with total sampling techniques. The data was analyzed with the Spearman Rho and Fisher Exact test. Results: 32 nurses were involved. Most respondents are male (18/56.25%), have a Diploma educational background (23/71.88%), and non-government employees (24/75%). The average age of respondents was 34.75 years, and the average worked for 9.25 years. The level of knowledge of BLS was mostly more than 56% (25/78.1%). The knowledge average was 74.06+ 8.93 with a median of 75 anda score range of 50-85. Gender, educational background, BLS certificate upgrades, and employment status were not related to the level of knowledge of BLS. Age and length of work variables have a significant correlation with knowledge. Calculated rs was -0.043 with a p-value of 0.008 (α 0.05) for age and rs value of -0.353 with a p-value of 0.024 (α 0.05) for length of work. Conclusion: Gender, educational background, BLS certificate upgrades, and employment status were not related to the level of knowledge of BLS.There is a sufficient and significant relationship between the age and length of workwith knowledge of BLS with the opposite direction of the relationship. The older and longer a nurseworks, the lowerthe nurse’s knowledge of BLS.  Routine BLS training sessions or emergency drills in PHC both online and offline can be some solution in partnership with emergency organizations and nearby referral hospitals.
