Abstract

Amid evolving educational paradigms that demand greater inclusivity and cognitive adaptability, this study reexamines the influence of religion on students’ mathematics learning behavior through the lens of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A mathematical model was developed to analyze how religious values moderate the interplay between attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control in shaping students' intentions to engage in mathematics learning. The study employed a mixed-methods design, integrating structural equation modeling of survey data with qualitative thematic analysis of interviews conducted in culturally diverse elementary school settings. Findings indicate that religion significantly amplifies the positive effects of motivational and normative constructs on learning intention, particularly among students with strong religious orientations. While religiosity fosters greater discipline and perseverance in mathematical tasks, the study also reveals that certain conservative interpretations may restrict creative and critical thinking, thus posing challenges to problem-solving flexibility. These results call for a nuanced pedagogical approach that respects students’ belief systems while promoting open-ended mathematical reasoning. This research contributes to the broader discourse on culturally and religiously responsive education and offers insights for future curriculum reforms that align value-based education with cognitive development goals

Abstract

This study analyzes the needs of primary school teachers and students concerning the development of a culture-based educational game titled Pesona Gege for the Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) subject. Employing a quantitative cross-sectional survey method, the research engaged respondents from five Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Kandangan District, comprising five teachers and twenty students. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that 100% of teachers and 85–100% of students demonstrated a high demand for educational media that is interactive, culturally relevant, and accessible across multiple platforms. Teachers highlighted the importance of capacity-building initiatives in Genially-based game development, whereas students emphasized preferences for rich visual content and the use of the Indonesian language. These results underscore an urgent need for the development of culturally grounded, student-centered educational media to strengthen national character education. This study contributes to the field by providing empirical evidence on the integration of local cultural elements into digital educational tools, positioning digital games as a strategic medium for actualizing the Profil Pelajar Pancasila through engaging and contextually meaningful learning experiences. Furthermore, the research offers practical insights for curriculum designers and educational technology developers aiming to enhance civic education in primary schools through culturally responsive digital innovation.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) strategy in enhancing student learning outcomes in the Islamic Religious Education subject, with a focus on the Aqidah Akhlak topic of Heart Diseases, in Class VI at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Syarifuddin Lumajang. The research was motivated by persistently low academic performance among students, as evidenced by an average class score below the minimum Learning Achievement Criteria (LAC). Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, the study was conducted over two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Findings demonstrate a marked improvement in student engagement and conceptual understanding, with the average score rising from 65.25 in the pre-cycle to 74.31 in Cycle I and 80.19 in Cycle II. Furthermore, the proportion of students meeting the minimum Learning Achievement Criteria increased from 18.75% (3 students) in the pre-cycle to 81.25% (13 students) in the second cycle. These results indicate that the TPS strategy significantly enhances not only students' academic performance but also their active participation in learning. This research contributes to the pedagogical discourse by validating the use of collaborative learning models within religious education contexts, particularly in reinforcing abstract moral and theological concepts for young learners.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary school has an important role in building students' logical and analytical thinking skills. However, there are still many students who have difficulty in understanding basic math concepts. One of the factors causing this is the teaching method that is less interesting and tends to be monotonous, so that students are less motivated to actively learn. To overcome this problem, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Short Card game method on students' math learning outcomes. In this study, there is a lack of application of interactive and fun learning methods in teaching mathematics at the elementary school level. Although various innovative teaching methods have been introduced, the application of Short Card games in the context of mathematics learning is still limited, especially regarding their effect on improving student learning outcomes. This study used a type of pre experimental designs with a one group pretest-posttest research form. The results showed that the Short Card game method had a significant positive effect on students' math learning outcomes. Students who learned using this method showed a higher increase in learning outcomes compared to students who used conventional methods. Thus, the Short Card game proved to be effective in improving learning outcomes.

Abstract

Environmental education is pivotal in shaping sustainable character among students, particularly within ecologically vulnerable regions. This study investigates the implementation of an environment-based learning model structured through the 4D framework—Discover, Deepen, Develop, and Demonstrate—to foster environmental care character among students at a coastal Islamic elementary school in Pasuruan, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, document analysis, and a supporting questionnaire involving three teachers, one curriculum coordinator, and thirty Grade 5 students. Data analysis was conducted manually using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, enabling in-depth thematic exploration aligned with the 4D learning stages. The findings demonstrate that the sequential application of the 4D model significantly enhanced students’ environmental awareness, moral reflection, responsibility, and action orientation. Contextual, hands-on activities such as tree planting, waste management projects, and thematic discussions anchored in Islamic ethical values contributed to the profound internalization of sustainability principles. Pedagogical alignment between planning, implementation, and assessment further reinforced the model’s transformative impact. This study concludes that environment-based learning through a structured 4D framework offers an effective pathway for character development in Islamic education and provides practical insights for curriculum innovation in ecologically sensitive educational settings.

Abstract

Independence in early childhood serves as a fundamental pillar in character formation, yet this attribute is increasingly undermined by the rise of individualistic tendencies in the era of globalization. This study investigates the role of the habituation method in fostering independent behavior among young children at Kusuma Mulia Nambaan school. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, data were gathered through direct observation, in-depth interviews with educators and caregivers, and the analysis of institutional documentation. Findings reveal that consistent implementation of habituation through routine activities, such as arranging footwear, returning toys, and completing assigned tasks without external assistance, significantly enhances children's self-reliance. These practices cultivated decision-making confidence and task completion autonomy in participants. The research underscores the critical role of structured habituation in promoting not only independence but also the broader development of social-emotional competencies. The study offers empirical support for integrating habituation-based strategies in early childhood education settings as a means of strengthening foundational character traits in an increasingly complex social landscape.
