Abstract

The handicraft industry in Bojonegoro, East Java, holds significant potential through products such as Jonegoroan batik, batik painting, knitted products, and teakwood crafts. However, members of the Asosiasi Handicraft Jatim (AHJ) Bojonegoro still face critical challenges in digital marketing and financial management. Limited use of Google Business Profile and the absence of systematic bookkeeping have restricted market reach and weakened sustainability. To address this issue, a community service program was conducted with the aim of empowering local artisans through knowledge transfer and practical mentoring. The method was implemented in five stages: planning, implementation, evaluation, feedback, and sustainability. The implementation included two main sessions, namely digital marketing and financial literacy training, complemented by mentoring and practice. 30 MSMEs owners participate in the program, and pre- and post-tests revealed significant improvement in knowledge. Evaluation results showed positive responses, with participants expressing strong interest in the continuation of similar programs. This mentoring program contributed to enhancing partners’ capacity to expand market reach, improve business financial management practices, and strengthen the economic competitiveness of handicraft MSMEs in Bojonegoro in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The Mentaraman Art and Cultural Educational Tourism Village faces challenges related to limited managerial capacity, low literacy in community-based tourism management, and suboptimal governance sustainability. This community service program aimed to strengthen the managerial capacity of tourism managers, particularly in planning, institutional organization, resource management, and tourism service standardization. An experiential learning–based capacity-building approach was applied through socialization, thematic training, field-based practice, technology application, evaluation, and continuous mentoring. The results indicate a significant improvement in managerial capacity across key indicators, including planning, coordination, institutional management, tourism guiding literacy, and digital technology utilization. Quantitative evaluation shows that over 80 percent of participants achieved good to very good competency levels and expressed positive perceptions of the effectiveness of field-based learning. The program also contributed to improving the quality and diversity of art and cultural tourism products, optimizing digital promotion, and strengthening community participation. Sustainability was supported through the formulation of a five-year tourism village development roadmap, initiation of village-level regulatory support, reinforcement of collaborative networks, and ongoing partnerships with higher education institutions. These findings demonstrate that experiential learning–based managerial capacity strengthening grounded in local potential is effective in promoting sustainable and professional management of art and cultural tourism villages.

Abstract

Literacy is a crucial factor in improving the quality of human life. The Serengan Village Library in Surakarta City has significant potential as an inclusive and sustainable community-based literacy center. This community service program aims to implement the national Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation program, with its mission to improve the Community Literacy Development Index. The community service program is implemented through design, outreach, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. The program includes technology-based library management to improve the competency of librarians (18 participants), School Literacy Movement (GLS) training (20 participants), and digital marketing and product photography training for MSMEs (20 participants). Monitoring and evaluation are conducted using indicators, which include design, action, and indicators. The results of the activities indicate an increase in the capacity of all target groups (librarians, teachers, and communities involved) for the program (220 percent on average from the baseline). These include more professional librarians, more creative teachers in conveying literacy to children, and more digitally prepared MSMEs. This program can be a model to establish the TPBIS program in the other village libraries. Moreover, this program contributes to strengthening the function of village libraries as community literacy centers and supports the achievement of SDG 4 on quality education.

Abstract

Tourism villages have contributed to improving the community economy, but the lack of optimal digital support for promotion has resulted in low visibility and popularity of tourism village destinations. Putak Tourism Village is one of those still experiencing this problem. The lack of knowledge and skills to optimize social media as a promotional medium remains an obstacle. This community service aims to optimize promotional strategies through social media to improve the branding of Putak Tourism Village. This community service activity is carried out through training and mentoring partners, using Instagram social media as a promotional strategy. The result of this program is an increase in the majority of Putak Tourism Village managers' understanding (86 percent understand) regarding the strategy for increasing tourism village branding through Instagram social media. The implication of this program shows that enhancing digital literacy through targeted social media training can significantly improve promotional capabilities and destination branding, thereby potentially increasing tourist visits and supporting the sustainable development of local tourism economies.

Abstract

The urgency of this community service stems from the persistence of gender-biased organizational practices within student bodies, which risk perpetuating inequality from an early stage. Addressing this issue in schools is essential to cultivate gender-aware leadership, foster inclusive organizational cultures, and support the national agenda for gender equality in education. This community service activity aims to strengthen gender relations and inclusive organizational culture within intra-school student organizations (OSIS). Conducted at SMAN 2 Bojonegoro, the activities involved socialization sessions and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with OSIS members. The program emphasized the understanding of gender concepts, equality, and the development of a supportive organizational environment. Results indicate that gender stereotypes still influence the division of tasks and leadership roles among students. The discussions revealed limited understanding of gender-inclusive practices, which led to organizational inequality and conflicts. However, the intervention successfully raised awareness, with post-test evaluations showing improved perspectives on gender fairness and inclusive organizational culture. This program concludes that sustained mentoring and gender-sensitive leadership practices are essential to transform student organizations into inclusive environments. The outcomes recommend continuous gender education, inclusive policy design, and intersectoral collaboration for long-term impact.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is the most common hypertensive complication during pregnancy. Additionally, preeclampsia is a leading cause of high morbidity and mortality rates. One of the healthcare professionals who plays a crucial role in providing health services to pregnant women at community health centers is the midwife and doctor. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the role of healthcare in community health centers to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality due to preeclampsia. This community program aims to enhance the knowledge of midwives and doctors about preeclampsia particularly in terms of follow-up at both the primary and advanced levels. There are 74 midwives and doctors from the community health center in Surabaya participating in this event. This activity was carried out using the health education method combining discussions, and a Q&A session about preeclampsia. The measurement of knowledge levels was conducted using pre-test and post-test. From the results of the test, it was found that there was an increase in the average score of more than 50 percent. Based on the statistical test, the significance value in this study is 0.005 (p-value < 0.05). The results indicate that community programs can enhance the knowledge of midwives and doctors regarding preeclampsia effectively.

Abstract

Seloliman Village is one of the banana producers with an average production of 10-15 tons per year. The "Omah Kripik" business group was founded in 2022 to process bananas into banana chips. The process of making banana chips is still hampered by the problem of limited production capacity and product marketing with the potential for large availability of raw materials. This community partnership empowerment (PKM) activity aims to implement process technology and e-commerce to increase production capacity and product marketing.  Activity method: training and assistance in implementing process technology and e-commerce. The results obtained are the creation of an automatic banana slicer and marketing management training using e-commerce. The results of the PKM program activities were able to increase the production capacity of banana chips from previously only 20 kg a day to 60 kg a day. Additional knowledge about marketing management through e-commerce which is held is also able to attract the curiosity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Seloliman Village, Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency so that the products produced can have added economic value and be able to compete creatively. The impact of e-commerce is that it is able to increase sales from 100 packs per day to 300 packs per day through online orders.

Abstract

Sea lettuce is commonly consumed fresh in salads. However, its underutilization has attracted the interest of the Giri Sari group of women farmers in Pecatu Village, who are exploring the production of sea lettuce chips. While their families enjoy the chips, they tend to be oily and lack crispness. The group aims to market sea lettuce chips to the community, but faces challenges in achieving and maintaining optimal crispness, durability, and effective packaging. The purpose of this community service is to apply appropriate technology that specifically focuses on the process of draining and packaging products. The methods used include socialisation, technology application, monitoring and evaluation, and ensuring the sustainability of the programme. As a result, there was a 75 percent increase in partners' knowledge and skills regarding the processing of sea lettuce chips. In addition, the quality of the chips improved by 90 percent, and they are now packaged in attractive aluminium foil that extends the product's shelf life by up to three months. With technological support from the PKM team, it is expected that the partners will be able to produce sea lettuce chips that are worthy of being marketed to the community.

Abstract

The utilization of tofu whey waste is crucial due to its environmental impact and the lack of proper waste management by tofu and tempeh producers in Tengaran, Salatiga. Currently, liquid waste is still discharged into nearby water bodies, affecting both the environment and surrounding agricultural areas. These areas are dominated by rice fields where farmers heavily rely on chemical fertilizers such as Urea and Ponska. This community service program aims to convert tofu and tempeh liquid waste into liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) to reduce chemical fertilizer usage and minimize environmental pollution. The implementation involved training and mentoring members of the Barukan Farmer Group (Poktan Barukan) in LOF production through simple biotechnological methods. The initiative led to several key outcomes: the independent availability of LOF, improved agricultural practices, and enhanced farmer group management. The LOF has proven effective as a bioremediation agent, promoting healthier rice growth characterized by vigorous plants, greener leaves, and earlier panicle development. Additionally, the LOF has commercial potential and can be scaled up for broader use. Around 80% of farmers showed active participation and a strong commitment to continuing LOF use, supporting a more sustainable farming system and contributing to the local green economy.
