Abstract

Used cooking oil, commonly produced from household cooking activities, poses serious risks to health and the environment if used repeatedly or disposed of carelessly. Repeated heating causes the formation of harmful compounds such as free fatty acids, aldehydes, and acrolein, while disposal into waterways can cause significant pollution. This community service program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of housewives in Banjar Adat Taman Sari, Mengwitani Village, in processing used cooking oil into useful products, particularly solid soap. The activity conducted on July 24, 2025, employs a participatory learning-by-doing approach through interactive presentations and hands-on practice. Participants were introduced to the hazards of used cooking oil, purification techniques using activated carbon, and soap-making methods. Out of 37 participants, 4–6 was directly involved in the practical session, while the others followed via a live stream. The soap produced met the standards for cold-process soap in terms of color, scent, and texture. The program successfully raised environmental awareness, empowered women with practical skills, and opened up opportunities for household-scale businesses based on environmentally friendly practices.

Abstract

Cendol drink is a traditional Indonesian beverage made from rice flour and widely consumed in East Java. Many household-scale cendol entrepreneurs are located in Jetis, Mulyoagung Village, Dau District, Malang Regency, where production is still manual and limited to around 3 kg/day. Financial management, production processes, and marketing strategies also remain suboptimal. This community service program aimed to enhance partners’ knowledge and skills in financial management, production techniques, and marketing strategies to improve business performance. The program was implemented through knowledge transfer methods, including counseling sessions, demonstration plots, and mentoring conducted over three months. Program success was measured through improvements in production capacity, product quality, financial management practices, production efficiency, and marketing reach. The results showed that the integration of knowledge transfer and appropriate technology increased production capacity from 3 kg/day to 10 kg/day and raised household entrepreneurs’ profits by approximately 50 percent. The adoption of simple yet applicable technology provided tangible benefits for micro and small enterprises, particularly in improving operational efficiency and business sustainability. This activity also reflected effective collaboration between academia and the community in supporting local economic empowerment. Follow-up programs are recommended to include training in creative content development and social media management, supported by periodic mentoring to ensure sustainable implementation of production and marketing strategies.

Abstract

The Arboretum Tourism Park, located in Bumi Harapan, holds great potential to become a leading tourism destination in Central Sulawesi, particularly in Banggai. Therefore, this community service aims to assist the village government in developing the Arboretum Tourism Park through the creation of educational recreational facilities and the implementation of digital promotion strategies. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method was applied to address the partner’s needs. The results showed significant improvement in the development of educational recreational facilities, increasing from 20 percent to 90 percent, marked by the establishment of three attractions. Furthermore, technical guidance on digital promotion strategies enhanced the managers’ skills from 40 percent to 95 percent, as evidenced by the establishment of an official website and social media platforms for the park. The contribution of this program lies in increasing the park’s attractiveness, which is expected to boost tourist visits and, ultimately, contribute to improving the village economy. This program supports sustainable village-based tourism development.

Abstract

Maternal mental health issues are a critical contributor to the high Maternal Mortality Rate in East Kalimantan. Significant challenges in providing adequate support stem from limited psychological services and knowledge gaps among midwives at the Trauma Center Community Health Center (Puskesmas). This community service research aimed to build the capacity of midwives to provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) for pregnant women through a digitally supported psychoeducation program. The methodology involved a psychoeducation program delivered to 30 midwives, featuring a PFA workshop and the socialization of the "Bumil Sejahtera" application. A paired T-test was used to analyze data and measure improvements in participant knowledge and skills. The results demonstrated a statistically significant improvement (p<0.05) across all assessed domains, with the mean score increasing from 87.33 in the pre-test to 113.67 in the post-test. This enhancement of skills is beneficial for the early detection and initial management of maternal mental health issues. For maximum impact, program sustainability is recommended through periodic workshops and collaboration with the local Health Department to expand the application's user reach.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the creativity of guidance and counseling teachers through deep counseling-based training. The training was conducted on July 10, 2025, involving 49 guidance and counseling teachers from junior and senior high schools. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, the program included pre-test, panel discussion on deep counseling, innovation showcase, practical sessions, and post-test. Results showed a positive impact on teachers' creativity, with participants in the "balanced creativity" category increasing from 85.7 percent in the pre-test to 91.8 percent in the post-test. This improvement demonstrates that the training effectively enhanced teachers' ability to balance creative exploration with professional consistency in delivering counseling services. The integration of creative media into deep counseling encouraged teachers to design innovative, contextual, and student-centered services. This activity contributed to strengthening guidance and counseling teachers' competence to provide more effective, engaging, and sustainable counseling services that respond to students' psychosocial needs. The program also serves as a model for continuous professional development that can be replicated in other regions, focusing on the integration of digital technology, diversification of counseling media, and enhancement of competencies in addressing the complexity of contemporary student issues.

Abstract

In the current era of rapid technological advancement, digital marketing has become a vital strategy for business sustainability and growth, especially among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Effective and efficient use of digital marketing tools can significantly enhance market reach, increase brand awareness, and ultimately improve sales performance while reducing operational costs. Nevertheless, many MSMEs still face barriers in adopting digital platforms due to limited knowledge and technical skills. This community outreach initiative provides structured and targeted digital marketing assistance to MSMEs affiliated with Baitul Mal Banda Aceh. The mentoring model consists of five key stages: (1) needs identification and analysis, (2) mentoring plan development, (3) implementation of mentoring sessions, (4) monitoring and evaluation, and (5) reporting of outcomes. The results indicate a noticeable improvement in participants’ understanding of digital marketing concepts and platforms. Most MSMEs successfully created and managed social media accounts (Instagram and TikTok) and utilized e-commerce and food delivery platforms such as GrabFood and GoFood for product promotion. Participants also demonstrated increased confidence and independence in designing promotional content using digital tools. Overall, the program received positive responses from participants and shows strong potential for sustainability as a community-based digital empowerment model for MSMEs.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in response to the challenges of managing chronic diseases faced by Prolanis participants at the Jumpandang Baru Public Health Centre in Makassar. This program employs a multidimensional strategy encompassing interactive health education, telepharmacy technology via WhatsApp, the provision of pill cards for medication management, and system enhancement through collaboration with health personnel and local government. The evaluation was conducted by pre-tests and post-tests on 24 initial respondents, with the results demonstrating a considerable increase in comprehending medication adherence (average score 14.05 to 14.54) and monitoring treatment effectiveness (13.84 to 14.29). Simultaneously, comprehension of the Patient Companion's (PMO) role remained continuously elevated (24.47 to 24.54), signifying a robust knowledge foundation in this domain. The participation rate rose to 24 responses in the post-test, signifying favourable community interest and acceptability. The expected outcomes of this activity in the near future are an increase in patient independence, patient-volunteer relationships, or the telepharmacy workflow of the community health centre. Notwithstanding the limitations imposed by inadequate health facility facilities, this program effectively enhanced participants' health knowledge and conduct. The program's sustainability is advised through regular mentoring, official incorporation of telepharmacy services, and optimisation of local resources.
